Town Line !

I was getting close to reaching the town line so I figured after all the climbing I had been doing I would try and unwind the legs. Seeing that I haven't done group rides in years I still like to play my own solo games when riding.

Good job! I love watching the pavement go by at speed!

Hello,

As I watch it I actually feel a reflexive cringe when crossing those turns. I know you can see the roads are clear, but my view is straight ahead and I feel like I'm breaking a taboo by not looking for traffic.

Like I said, it is just a gut feeling from watching and I thought it was funny.

I get the same feeling watching video from handle bar mounted cameras. On the other hand it makes for a smoother more beautiful video, and really conveys the sense of speed.

I agree completely.

May I ask the significance of "Town Line!"? There is so much bike lingo I never heard before...

I presume it's reference to a sprint, aka "city limit sprint" = "town line sprint," but that was too long for a sprint. More like a 'final stretch breakaway,' whatever that might mean on a solo ride.

The city limits or county line is a traditional sprint point on many group rides.

Always had a sprint for the town line in our group rides, and every once and a while some one would try and steal it from a ways out. So I just wanted to pick it up a few mile out from the line just for some fun.

what was the grunt about @ 6:37 just before the text "always look for ways to keep the ride fun"? or was that just the beginning of the unwinding? :-)

That's how I usually do it. I know from experience that I can out-last them all, so that's how I prefer to set things up.
