Bar Bag.................

Thanks for even more great replies, and thanks for the issues I had not
thought of.

I am leaning toward the 'Jandd' bag......if.....it will fit on a flat topped bar.
Any thoughts on that? If that doesn't work I will give a second look to the
smaller Nashbar bag.

old99,
Sorry dude. I go to pains to try to be clever with the titles but have
out-clevered me by a mile. Can I suggest e-harmony, or maybe celibacy?

capejohn,
I looked at a Bell at Walmart but it doesn't look like the straps are long
enough to fit my flat topped bar.

As always,

Dr. Phil, it IS her! Blonde, fat, sitting on a stump in a bar! Yep, that's her alright!

I have Jandd bags mounted on Specialized Expedition and Giant Cypress flat bars, on 4 road bike "drop" handelbars, and on the back of seat (hanging on the seat/saddle rails).

Just a caution. Handle bar bags, restrict your hand position to the drops and hoods. For me it became VERY annoying...

The added wind resistance of the bag itself makes the fork turn more easily in cross winds when I've no hands on the bars (about 50% of my ride). Maybe my experience is unusual?
Absolutely! I was turned off using a handlebar bag back in the 1980s when I hit a pot hole on a fast descent, and the bag was popped out of its mount and fell onto the front wheel. Luckily it didn't go into the wheel, but jammed in the space behind the fork, just below the headset. Instant braking accompanied by loud screeching of rubber on Cordura™. I was extremely lucky not to have taken a header - since then, no more bags on the handlebars!

Bar Bag...............

Thrifty1,
I am talking about an 'IRD Blackbird' bar which has an oval section, not a round
one. That means the straps might need to be longer. Sorry for not explaining 'flat topped bar'.

Will Davis,
Just looking to carry the things I mentioned earlier: a cell phone, glasses,
wallet, keys, and maybe a snack. Not really looking to carry much weight
at all.

Thanks again.
