We tried to have our wine while stopping midpoint on our standard Tandem ride. No dice. The biking performance dropped off so bad that we were cured.

Having struggled with several addictions in my life time, I'm pleased that I'm now alcohol free. But, even while I was a consumer of mind altering substances, I've never ridden either a bike of motorcycle while under the influence. I guess, despite my addictions, I wanted to wake up the next morning and get through another day. I can't think of many things that puts one at risk for not being able to greet the sun than riding anything on two wheels while intoxicated. These days I find the high from cycling to me much more rewarding than I would have ever dreamed in my earlier years.

Not since college. I can only remember one time. Fortunately I was on my Pegasus, a dutch bike with incredibly relaxed geometry and tremendous fork rake. It went straight all by itself and I just had to pedal.

That would still be considered moderation, at least by my admittedly strained book of definitions.
