May have to put Australia on the back burner for a while...

Bikes: More bicycles than I can ride at one time: 2 custom made tourers, a Brompton 6-speed, and an Indian-made roadster.

This is the 2nd summer I have been waiting for ScoMo's "Fortress Australia" to open up. No point in saying anything, it is what it is.

Big +1 from me!

Bikes: 2018 Cervelo R5 DA Zipp 404s 2014 Cervelo R5, 2012 Scott Metrix 10 Hybrid

Greetings. Haven't posted in a while however all good. jppe doing 3 100 milers in a row is unfathomable!!!! Doing 50 takes stuff out.

Update: Our group of COVID road bike warriors have continued to today. We now have 8-10 in our group; most are 74-77 years old with some youngsters in mid-60s. All double vaccinated. When one travels we ride in the back for a week until tested. So far no one got COVID from riding; one did from a trip to LA. We ride four days a week Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday

Our "normal" ride is about 40 miles going from 15 to 19 MPH. On a good day (lower winds) we might maintain 17-18 for 8-10 miles. Call it COVID fitness.

Just passed 6,000 miles for 2021 after 7,500 in 2020 -- the most in my dozen years of riding.

Don't know what the future holds, however cycling has been a savior for most of us who would have been stuck at home avoiding the virus.

Best wishes to all.

Bikes: 2022 Trek Emonda SL 5, 2002 Klein Quantum, 2000 Trek 8000, 2011 Trek 7.5 FX

I started riding again in early 2020 after losing 20 lbs. I ended up the year by riding just over 3000 miles and losing about 75 lbs. I went from 270 to 195. I recently turned 65 this past August and am now down to 180 lbs. I'm 5'-11" tall. I've ridden over 4,700 miles this year and plan to get to 5,200 if the weather cooperates. I celebrated my weight loss by buying myself a new road bike about a month ago. I don't have enough posts to post photos yet, but the new bike is a carbon frame 2022 Trek Emonda SL 5 Disc. I'm planning to add carbon wheels in the spring when I return from Florida. They won't be in stock until February.

I'm taking my old road bike, a 2002 Klein Quantum, with me to Florida this winter, where I hope to sell the Trek FX 7.5 hybrid I have down there.

Thanks. I completely changed my diet, but I'm not sure I could have done it without getting back on the bikes.

[QUOTE=Phil85207;12452236................................................... I guess three weeks off the bike before the event did come into play.[/QUOTE]

It certainly would.
Easing off the last week before the event would be the rule.
So how come it was three weeks??

Bikes: Motobecane Grand Record, Motobecane Super Mirage (3x5 speeds), Motobecane Mirage, Atala (unknown model), Peugeot mixte frame Tourist. A bunch more kids bikes. Most recently a Trek Verve One, tricked up for semi-serious touring.

I am singularly impressed! I suffered a spine fracture as a youngster (teens, not 40s) and have been dealing with it since. Better pain and mobility control over the past 3 years and have been able to "push" myself more. But with your issues (and the ankle brace?) you have done marvelously well and are an inspiration to those of us who find themselves failing to get up off the couch now and again.

Try to get out and ride my M2S ALL-TERRAIN ULTRA HT almost every day......but darn winter is coming and the Battery doesn't like the typical below zero F temps here in Stanley Idaho. Oh and I am a young 74 years and riding, riding... riding!!!!

Hard to know facts from phony news these days but I heard the photos of Biden riding a bike with his wife and a retinue of secret service agents was staged - they'd taken a SUV there and had been dropped off two blocks before the shoot. If there are any 90+ bike riders out there I'd love to hear it from the horse's mouth...

Needs to buckle his damn helmet... and not set that poor example.

Any other discussion will end up with this moved to P&R... so that's all I have to say.

Helmets restrict my breathing.

I was too sleepy to buckle it.

False sense of security...

Colors clash with my wool jersey....

Can't remember the last time I hit my head on the ground...

Everything a smart president does is staged, well planned and filmed.

Can you imagine sleepy Joe saying to Jill, “Hey, I have a spare hour, let’s go hop on our bikes - ride around DC and get some exercise!”

More cardio than a walk to one’s indoor WH golf course room.
Remember your heart only has so many beats in a lifetime!?!
Don’t use them up exercising. Hahaha!!!

It's a pretty well-known fact that Biden has been a bike rider for some time. One of his bikes is custom made by Stephen Bilenky who has been building bicycles since 1983. An authentic craftsperson, Bilenky produces an average of 75 frames a year from his workshop, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
