Happy New Year!

Hi all,

I've not been a frequent visitor the last couple of months, but I wanted to wish you all a very happy new year! Here's to a calmer and less-interesting year ahead.

All is well with us. Both still gainfully employed (me still as a consultant) and healthy and happy in spite of our 401-Ks turning into 101-Ks. Still enjoying our bikes. Counting our blessings.

Warmest wishes,
Trudie

Welcome back, and don't be a stranger.

I'm with you on the hopes for a "calmer and less-interesting year" ahead!

Good to hear from you, Trudie. But count me out on the wish for a calmer and less-interesting year. What's the fun in that? After what 2008 threw at me, I'm hoping for all the fun and excitement I can find in all the years yet to come my way.

Happy new year back TruF. Hang in there, the 401 might start back..........unless you spent a weekend at Bernies.

Bernies? Sounds like a good story here...

Ahh! It sounded like the name of an expensive department store, which would at least have been a fun way to lose lots of cash!

And a Happy New Year back at you!

Glad to hear that your job is working out.

I'm hoping for a peaceful year, but it is off to a rough start ... more home and auto repairs hanging over me than I care to think about.

I am welcoming 2009 on the theory that it probably will be an improvement over 2008. I am not a whiner, and I am still about the luckiest S.O.B. I know, but the closing quarter of 2008 was pretty rough, between investment compression, a torn retina, and the abrupt shutdown of my employer of the last 6 1/2 years. The investments will recover, the retina repair seems to have been successful, and I am actually having fun contemplating the opportunity for a career shift.

Good to hear from you and to know that all's well. I wondered what you were up to, having not heard from you in a while.

I'm looking forward to this new year as well, as I do most years. I'm just an unrepentant optimist.
