Wish me luck this weekend
Doing the Ride to Conquer Cancer this weekend, Vancouver to Seattle. Approx. 270 kilometers I'm told. It is over 2 days. It will be my longest ride to date, though I did a 203 K ride in April in a total time of 8.5 hours which includes rest stops/check-ins. We get to sleep in tents the first night ;-(
Anyone else on this board doing this ride?

don't forget your passport apparently our neighbours to the south think we're nothing but a bunch of socialistic terrorists wanting to change their health care system and are getting fussy about who they let enter their fair lands.
Have a good time and ride safe.

It's a ride not a race. Ride at an easy pace and you'll have no problem.

Good luck, it isn't as hard as it sounds. The crowds and cheering stations will also motivate you. Just don't start too hard and burn yourself out. Hydrate!
I am doing both Toronto's and Vancouver's next year. Hope to see you!

Good luck on your ride. I keep hoping with all the rides for cancer and money collected, they would be a lot closer to finding more cures, instead of the knife.

Ride to Conquer Cancer- Vancouver to Seattle done. 265 Kilometres (164 miles) over 2 days. Total ride time of 9:33 Weather was good on day one, rain and cold on day 2 though it got better later in the day. Organization was great. The route in Washington state was great, lots of riding along water, beautiful greenery, at least some that I could see when I looked up from the wheel of the person in front of me.
The last half or so of the ride to University of Washington was along a bike path, quite something. There was a stretch towards the end where a running race was taking place, so there was a bit of dodging runners and cyclists coming the other way, but all good. I had a flat at 85K on second day, and so did two of the riders I was with, so that was the only little hiccup, but no big deal.
$6.9 Million was raised. 1700+ participants. I already signed up for next year.

Glad you made it. I did the Toronto RTCC a couple of weeks back. Awesome.
But I probably won't be signing up for next year. There's a limit to the number of times you can hit your friends up for $2,500 in sponsorship cash.

Not if it's for a good cause, now you know who's good for some dough so you can concentrate on hitting up other people and raise even more. So get started on passing the word to all who gave this year that you're doing the ride again in a year so they have the coin in hand for you when you come calling next year.

Good luck.
