I got 25 miles in before the weather changed from sunny/70s to windy/cloudy/60s. I did a Brooklyn waterfront ride into Coney Island and then directly back home.
|
Today I led 5 others (all well over 50) on a 65.5 mile ride with 3,174 feet of climbing, to an iconic nearby climb.

46 miles in excellent dry weather just as it started to heat up. Good pace, but I stopped to look at a vintage Thunderbird and forgot to stop the timer
This is a post ride pic - nothing more therapeutic than a salt water pool ! https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...7e157968e.jpeg |
Did a nice 32 mile loop midday on the vintage Trek. Man, I love that bike. Bought it new in ‘83 and have been in love ever since. Nothing puts a stupid grin on my face like that old girl!

Saw this on my 40 mile ride through Minneapolis. Great way to maintain social distancing with the grandkids! |

Staying in isolation... |
Yep, 13.5 on my local MUP
|
More isolation....46 miles on the trail....

58 miles from the driveway to end of Hawthorne Trail and back. Brutal headwinds on the return slowed my pace to 16.5 mph. Saw an alligator sunning itself on the tarmac, but it scooted off before I could get the shot, to the right. Never was much of a photographer.....

Managed 40 miles after working all day....brutal headwinds the entire way back, couldn’t catch a break. Seems to be a late afternoon thing for the past several weeks.......
|
Yes, I rode today, feel great, just my 13 miles ride.
|
Off/On Rain all day...early evening time...just cloud cover...gear up, suit up and leave the house?....rain...screw it...ride...

54 miles from driveway to Hawthorne and back. I’ve discovered that I can go car-free for this ride, much of which is bike trail.
Rained today until 3:00, so a bit of a late afternoon ride. Roads had dried, but the trail was damp, wet in spots, and empty of human beings. The sun eventually came out for the return, and folks started to appear as I got closer to town. A small breeze at my back made it a pleasant end to the riding day. I also post with the Clydesdales, though if I keep this up I’ll literally drop out of the 200+ club, which is my goal. Never considered myself fat per se, but I’m trying to get down to 185 (high school weight), so a little bit of work to do yet...... |
106 miles with 5800’ of climbing to the in-laws to wish my mother in law Happy Mothers Day. I picked a nice bunch of daisies for her as I got close to her house.
A couple of unplanned detours due to a road being impassable and another turned into really chunky gravel. Swirly winds all day...tough headwinds the last 20 miles. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...64028373d.jpeg Lunch outside in the sun on a bench. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...da4a69635.jpeg They thought I looked curious! https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...32376364e.jpeg Road art. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c5a44baaa.jpeg Denton, NC https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...afafc1f4d.jpeg Had to ride down to see if it was passable. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...7b4bdaf74.jpeg Easy to get around on the right shoulder. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...063f76aaa.jpeg The first detour. Replacing a culvert and it was too deep and wide to cross. |
47 miles on the gravel bike...first time riding in these gravel roads. After the gravel roads I went to the in-laws house. My MIL fed me a wonderful supper of corned beef, boiled cabbage, corn on the Cobb, green peas, chocolate doughnuts and strawberry pie with ice cream.

I put in a couple miles just to try out some new upgrades (pedals and handlebar grips).
|
17.5 miles today - too damned cold in low-mid 50s, but glad I rode. Not a bad day by any means, but the ride made it a definitely good day.:)
ETA: According to Weather Underground, 60s and 70s and sunny next week! Yeah! |
17 wonderful glorious miles, Beautiful weather, I rode the loop where I blew the spokes on a R800 Cannondale, only a 5% grade
|

Tire clearance is limited to 25c or so, but if you can find the right wheels and tires, they ride as good as any stiff CF race bike. I love the steep angles on mine (74.25 degree head tube?). |

Let me guess, Wolber Alpine "wheels"? Mine lasted 2 weeks on my 87 SR600.
