Went to two different LBS's today, and a couple of coffee's here and there.
Probably close to 16-17 miles total~ can't remember exact routes, but I've been taking the "long way" lately.
I take it easy, and generally avoid the sprint thing, unless I'm on a busy bike path and have to pass.
Got some needed parts, and my pet Sekine project is rolling quite nicely.

Got out on my MotoGR yesterday, first real ride after my back 'popped' early last week. Wanted to trial 34t rear big now that I have DR hanger fitted, allows ample spacing 'twixt top idler cage & those extra two teeth.

My favorite 'challenge' hill was my goal, see if the new gearing permits a non-stop (albeit slow!) ascent to the ridge top, 3/4 mile & 250 uphill!

Short answer is YES, it works a charm!

A short ride out & back. Didn't want to push things too far after a week of little to no riding. 4-3/4 mile, 650' elevation in a bit over half an hour. It's downhill to the challenge hill's base, and a fast descent once I turn around at the top, then uphill back to home. All in all a nice, short workout.

Out at 2:22AM this morning for a pre-Wife's Birthday ride. Distance was 22.22 miles of slow, easy pedaling. Tomorrow's ride will begin MUCH CLOSER to shortly after MIDNIGHT and due to my PCa treatment effects will likely be 3 segments to complete her 74 miles then 1 more for Good Measure.

I was out at 7 am with the temp at 52f degrees. I took off my glasses as the sun coming from the east as I head north bounces off my lenses almost like a strobe light. So without glasses it isn’t bad. I got 20 miles on the bike path and it seems quieter today than I have seen lately.

About 40ish miles. Around lake Sammamish No pics on the ride, this time out I was riding with a stronger, younger man. And always at a ‘courteous’ following distance, as it were. At least, ....never out of sight. Nice to ride with a buddy.

This is what I rode.

Took a triple so as not to get too embarrassed on climbs. Actually, I really like riding this bike.

Round the Lake counterclockwise, starting in Issaquah. Disregard the Legend notation for Unpaved, as the Eastside trail is all paved now.

I often see bodies of water in the photo's on this thread.
Wonder if anyone fishes them...

Time soon for me to be targeting walleye~ from one of the bikes.

About 13-14 miles today- a grocery run, and much earlier a coffee and bike stuff run.
There were a lot of people out on bikes this afternoon.
No photo's this time. I should get a few as the leaves start to turn...

Went out at 12:05AM and some raindrops started falling so back inside to check RADAR. RED cloud cover overhead in short order. At 1:30AM the thunder subsided and clouds were gone on the RADAR so back out at 1:51AM and down the driveway + a few houses away and BACK COMES THE RAIN. Figured the RADAR showed it clear so it had to stop soon BUT NOPE. Continued on, got soaked, finally stopped raining AND SO DID I AT 22.22 MILES.

Been feeling krappy since after showering with no motivation for going back out right now. Maybe back out after dinner IF THE RAINS STAY AWAY to complete her ride.

I got out this morning and tried some new to me roads. I always get nervous riding new roads, as I am never sure I can make my goals. But even more so now that I understand the bike I am riding now doesn't have the lower gearing that my other bike had. So the hills are harder. Anyway, I did fine on this ride it turned out to be 21.7 miles. I had planned to take a right at one turn but turned left that eventually brought me back to the bike path and not the two larger hills I would have had to climb if I had taken the right. I will eventually have to ride this ride with taking the right turn not the left. A very nice day to be out riding today.

I rode 30 yesterday and descended a nice hill at 20 MPH. Hidden in the shade were these guys, which to my knowledge serve little to no purpose. At the last minute I saw them but was too late and hit the first one (without the white pole). I was on the tops and the bars went down and thought that maybe my carbon fork was toast. At least I kept the bike upright and came to a quick stop - hopeing the fork wouldn’t fail. I contacted the city where these are located and the traffic and road division have already acknowledged my complaint. Edit: Note on the other side of the road the same poles but placed directly in the bike lane. Yeesh

I’m not an experienced fisher-person. But Sammamish is probably lowest on the list of places to sink a lure or drown a worm….given local alternatives around the Sound and it’s Cascade freshwater rivers.

Salmon run is upon us. Great viewing.

Sammamish is more of a water skiers habitat/personal watercraft domain, imho. Close to the shore one sees paddleboarders, maybe a few kayaks. Never seen a rowing team, that’s Lk Washington. Usually warmer than most lakes, so it gets a few swimmers. The amateur triathlon crowd like the place.

20 mile grocery run across Tucker and Decatur. 8 avocados, 1 lb of brown mushrooms and a jar of peanut butter later, I was home for an exercise ride around the neighborhood with my wife.

Doc Sharptail 09-05-24 08:22 PM

About 26 miles today- a run for cheap meats for the freezer, and some hardware for projects that are on the go.
Did stop to check water levels at one of the places I like to fish. Had a bit of trouble finding the access point from the West shore.
My usual approach is the East shore.
Up and down unknown to me streets looking for the bridge access point probably added another 3 miles to the known total :innocent:

Did an impromptu 10 mile one way to lunch with my friend. A "driver" on Steve Reynolds Blvd tried to break in his newly bought pos by breaking an old bicyclist. As Agent 86 would say, "Missed it by THAT much!" One foot closer and I'd have to cancel out tomorrow's trip to the co op, etc. :speedy:

Rode my age today. I'm 61 and rode 62.1 miles. Woof, I'm tired! So far today I've consumed: A cappuccino, a spinach & cheese croissant, and two beers. I'm bushed!

Doc Sharptail 09-07-24 03:03 AM

About 20 miles total today.
I'm starting to feel the recent spate of "Longish" rides (for me).

However.... I did finally get to fish!!!

This is what Sturgeon Creek looks like. It's roughly 8 miles from my back door, and I got there today on the ancient Sekine.

This is the mouth of the creek on the Assiniboine River. (excuse the crappy phone pix~ I forgot to put the D-810 into the back-pack)

The usual river-bank visitors. They are white-tails.

Water is low, and still very warm. No walleye today, but I did land a smallish pike, which was released. I'll give it a try again in about a week- give the water a chance to cool down a bit, and get the wall-eye active.

34 miles on our Saturday breakfast ride. Had two detours: On one, the road was closed and we had to go the wrong way up a cloverleaf ramp to get around it. The other was we had to go around a detour on the trail. Still averaged over 10 mph which surprised me.

The early arrivers

DIdn't ride today, at least not yet. It was 40°F when I got up, little warmer than the 38.6°F an hour earlier. And my back is kinda sore, I suppose from all the freight I helped hump out of receiving and into the store yesterday. I did ride a little yesterday, mile commute to & from work & both ways on my lunch break.

It's 62°F & sunny now too so I might get a few miles in before dusk yet.

I need some suggestions on suitable biking attire for cooler weather ahead.

Never been much of a chilly weather rider but this year the bug's got me interested.

And there's a new bike for me on a Big Brown Truck, destined to be delivered this coming Tuesday, so I'm well-motivated to continue this season as long as I practically can.

All suggestions most assuredly welcome!

I headed out this morning hoping to get a decent ride in, but the strong north wind and Saturday traffic had me back home after about 8 miles.

I was needing something to calm my anxiety after my oncologist visit yesterday. Test results, etc.

essiemyra 09-07-24 04:23 PM

I was out riding at 7:30 this morning for a 20 mile ride. The temp was 59f degrees when I left the house, going up the bike path. I wasn't sure which way my ride would go, stay on the bike path or get off and find another route. Which is what I ended up doing as I was thinking on my way home the bike path would be more crowded with weekend bike riders with bad road etiquette.

pepperbelly 09-07-24 04:41 PM

Between sinuses draining into my chest and the heatwave we have had I haven’t ridden until today.
I went to the gym and rode indoors for 5 miles. Ate after and felt good so I loaded my bike up and went to my local lake for a quick 6 mile loop.
I have a love/hate thing with this lake. It’s close and has a good mup but there are endless climbs-none big but a lot of them.
The temp was about 85° with a dry NW wind that pushed the humidity out.
I went counter-clockwise saving the big climb for last. That was when I realized I had outsmarted myself. Since I started out going into the wind After the climb I had to cross the dam into a 20mph wind.
I was gassed afterwards. I can’t take off that long again.
