I was out early this morning for a ride but due to bad communications I wasn't sure what time I needed to be home for my granddaughters. I only got a 17 mile ride in this morning, Also I was on the bike path and was notified by a walker that up ahead it was flooded. I turned around instead of finding out the hard way that I wouldn't make it through the high water. And still I was happy with my ride today.

Got 14 miles this morning.

I went out for a ride yesterday, but was too late getting started, and not really outfitted for the heat well enough. I called it a day with 8 miles.

Test ride. I think I'm in love ❤️

EDIT: Yes, I bought it.

A leisurely 18 mile, 1,000’ climbed ride with Mrs RSbob. We both had a nice time and took a little snack break at a nice little lake.

WaveyGravey 07-13-24 08:51 AM

Yes. I rode 30 miles this morning.

Samac 07-13-24 12:45 PM

A nasty hot sweaty ride home from work with too many hills. Glad it was only ~5 miles.

Cheers,

Scott

26 on 7/7
23 on 7/10
30 on 7/12

More humid than usual, and the wind has come from the N. Since I ride N and then turn around to ride S to get home, I had 2 tail winds on my way home. And it's basically down hill, too.:) Garmin tells me 'no benefit', but they're crazy - I've enjoyed the rides. Our son keeps sending me kudos on Strava. We've ridden 200-300 miles together when he's visited over the last 2 years, but this year he's riding a lot more and a lot faster than me, and I'd hate to slow him down....

With luck, I'll get to 36 by 7/19, 43 by 7/26, and 50.34 (age+1 in KM) on 8/4. I really want to do my age in KM around my birthday this year....

Another day with an early start. No issues with communications regarding granddaughters as today is Saturday. I rode for 25 miles this morning. I was off the road by 8:30 am.

Always grateful to post this thread

Rode over to the YMCA. Only 6-7 mi ea way but a couple of uphill sections for good cardio.

when I arrived - 3 other bikes. Guy leaving said no thefts that he knew in his 3 years, he just locked his ebike. Of course. :thumb: I am a Y newbie so useful info.

23+ miles at 15mph with a big smile on my face. This was the first ride with the new Panaracer Pasela ProTite tires on the 1976 Motobecane Grand Touring.

I was out early this morning. I had planned to to ride the same ride as yesterday but, we all now what happens when we plan. So when I got to a section of the bike path that was across the road the gate was across the path, and it was locked. The sign read "closed for the season" which I don't think the sign changes. It is just more noticeable when the gate is closed cause it is attached to the gate. Anyway, I decided not to go on that section of the bike path as two days prior it had been flooded out on portions. So I thought that might be the reason for the closure today. I decided with that little change of plans that I needed to go directly home. So I rode today for 20 miles instead.

I also saw a man walking along the road at 6:30 am and he was headed west. As he was on the same side of the road as me I went wide around him. I noticed a few times before I reached him he looked backwards. So when I passed I said good morning. He asked me if I knew were Fort st. was. I told him I am not from the area and don't know that street name. He asked a few more questions about what town we were in? Where is the Detroit River? What river is over that way(Huron). I felt a little uncomfortable so I kept my distance(when giving him wide berth, I went to the wrong side of the road for me). I hope he makes it to wherever he is going.

Rode 31 miles today.

I gotta ask, what do you have for pedals on that bike? In the pic it looks like there's yellow balls on them. :foo:

Medium hot this afternoon.

Maiden Voyage. I picked up my new Trek Checkpoint SL 5 yesterday. Took it out for the first time today. This is my first
  • carbon fiber bike
  • bike with brifters
  • bike with disc brakes
  • bike with tubeless tires
  • bike with clipless pedals
On the test rides I just used platforms from the store. Today was the first ride in clipless ever. It went fine actually. I forgot to unclip a couple times but the panic instinct kicked in and I was able to get unclipped in time.

Yeah, I noticed that too. To be honest I'm finding it harder to get used to the brifters than to clipless.

Got 14 miles in this morning.
The sweet spot with this heat is after the morning commuters have cleared and before the asphalt starts to melt.

SpedFast 07-16-24 10:56 PM

Got in a little over 25 before the thunder and lightening picked up. Took off without my riding gloves or riding glasses, Then my seat clamp broke and had to ride the bike back home feeling like I was on a BMX. Felt really weird and I couldn't stand all the way. Should know better than to use a road bike on off road trails. But hey, any day on the bike is a good day. :thumb:

Later I was feeling froggy so I hopped on the trainer and did the Col du Tourmalet on Zwift. Ouch. 😜

Forgot to post last night when I got back. No ride today I think.... kinda sprinkly out there, the kind of weather than turns into downpour sometimes. But last night I got 17 miles in.

I got in a 17 mile ride this morning. One of the more enjoyable rides in quite a while.

We had some sort of weather system move through last night. This morning was cool with clouds blowing over from the north.

Same here. About 16 miles. Played with the seat height, feels much better now.
