I left the house at 6:30 this morning before the heat took over with the humidity. I was on the bike path and I kept getting some type of flying insect that thought they should go in my ears. They were out yesterday morning also. I am not sure what they are but I thinking I will start wearing bug spray when I go out on the bike path. I rode for 18.8 miles this morning.

I did, yeah!
Just shy of 16 miles late this morning, 75 minutes riding my Tarmac. Been HOT here, or RAINING, or WINDY for the last several weeks so I haven't been riding nearly as much as I'd liked. Been taking the MBGR to work & back since last week, get my balance tuned up for getting back out there on my Tarmac. Felt grand! It was HOT & sunny with not too much breeze. Worked up a prodigious sweat with the humidity from all the rain here'bouts. No speed records, but some climbing to add interest. Be back out again soon enough as the garden, the lawn, my work schedule, weather permits of course. |
I changed my plans for a nice rural ride. Just couldn't do the 3+ hrs of windshield time so I stayed local and lazy-ish.

After a crazy storm last night, I hadn't expected to ride today, but managed to get out for 13 miles. It was as muggy as a steam room. :(
There was quite a bit of damage to trees, etc. I stopped several times to help pull tree branches off the road so traffic could use both lanes of the cow path. |
The wife and I rode our 13 mile route again this morning. The heat and humidity about did us in.

It was a beautiful day today in The Bay. |
Yesterday was my Birthday ride. Began at 12:12am and rode 55.55 miles. Showered, ate something, laid down for a bit of shut-eye and was back up and out at 7am to complete the distance. Rode another 20.20 miles for a total 75.75 miles. Made the 75 miles for birthday then .75 miles for good measure.

I rode to work and home today. On my way to work I stopped in at CVS as I was bringing my bike in with me. A lady offered to watch my bike but I politely declined her offer and told her I just walk it in with me. I rode for 11 miles today.

I rode the Hiawatha Trail round trip for 30 miles and about 1000' climb. I was passing by on a driving trip into Washington State from Colorado, and luckily I'd heard about this rail trail. It's a real gem, lots of fun. The ride starts from the upper end with a long tunnel, over 1.5 miles. The tunnel was challenging mainly because it's dripping wet and cold. I started at 0800 and was the first person on the trail. I had it all to myself until I turned around to head back. Here's a view from one trestle down to another.

So I have been riding but not posting about it. Averaging 2-3 26 mile rides a week down here on Cape Cod. The Shining Sea Bike path is 11+ miles and a couple of miles from my house, so round trip is 26 miles. Only caught in a down pour once so far. Grateful to spend time here. A shot from Quisset beach in Woods Hole. Haven’t run into any Great Whites.

Needed some penance in the 93 degree heat. This is from the I-74 Bridge looking to the West. |

So there must be a bike lane on the new bridge? I moved away in 2012, they were a long way from finishing the new span then .

I got a 20 mile ride in yesterday. I left the house at 6:45 and was able to ride the bike path the whole ride. Though the group of 3 dog walkers blocking the width of the bike path are lacking path etiquette.

Rode a 24 miler yesterday in the 90 degree heat. I forgot how much the heat saps you. I was shot the last 3-4 miles. I need to remember the electrolyte packets and food for hot rides.

Got a 13 mile ride in this morning. First one in a while. It's been hot and really humid for this area.
I stopped for a while at my fossil hunting area (another of my hobbies) and found a what I think must be a giant clam shell from the cretaceous era embedded in limestone. Way to big and heavy to try and tote back on my bike, so I stashed it and will drive over later to pick it up. I'm currently in the process of prepping out a chunk about the size of a dinner plate and several inches thick of barnacles embedded in gray marl. Fun porch sitting activity. |
Hard group ride last night 25.7 miles with 1,220 ft of climb. Some brutal hills. I am feeling it today.

Went out yesterday at 3:53am to road test new tires on my 2018 Roubaix Expert for 13.31 miles. Out this morning at 1:36am for 31.13 miles on the Roubaix. New cheapo tires are smooth and comfortable.

I was out this morning 6:00 am. I rode only for 13.5 miles due to the bike path being buggy. It was worse when I stopped to take a drink so I turned around and went home. I figured if I couldn't stop to drink I shouldn't be riding in the heat.

Down the driveway this morning at 2:11am feeling good after four hours of sleep but yesterday's 31.13 mile ride changed that good feeling pretty quickly. Energy tank was running on empty so only managed 26.62 miles on my wife's 2016 DAHON D7 Mariner Fold-Up. Maybe I'll take a nap today so tomorrow will be better.
