First outdoor ride in a month. It wasn't pretty but it felt good to get out.

20 miles yesterday on my own.
Had my first flat today; a blowout that sounded like a car backfired! I was with a group of ladies; 20 miles into a 30 mile route. We couldn't find a thing in the road that I had run over, but my tire had a 2" slice across it. We tried using a boot, but the new tube burst too. We called the bike shop, and someone came get me. Cyclists are awesome people : ) |

Wife and I rode the tandem in the El Tour de Tucson on Saturday. Last 25+ miles of the 109 were into brutal headwinds, but my wife's efforts got us to the finish after I had started to cramp. There were over 3000 riders in the century mass start and over 9000 total, so plenty of folks on the course to pass and be passed by.

30 miles in 38 degree temps with 3 others on a night ride. When the ride started I was really having hard time just sitting in while warming up. As the pace picked up I knew I was in trouble. I ride with these guys frequently and never have any trouble keeping up. I'm thinking that this is my worst ride of the year. At a stop sign around 6 miles in I told the others I was "done for the day" and would take a side road, then meet them at the tavern when they finished. One of the guys suggested I check my brakes so I opened the levers. Wow!!!, what a difference! I must have bumped one of the brakes getting the bike inside or out of the 4 Runner. I finished the ride with the guys and even took my share of pulls.

28F - 1 mile to rec center - swim 30 minutes then ride 1 mile back. Then 2 mile walk by the creek!!!!!!!!!!!!

About 25 miles around 80 degree Pensacola, Florida. I rode over a 3 mile long bridge over the bay on my way to the beach, not the most pleasant part of the ride; the bike lane was about 5 feet wide, filled with tire popping junk and heavy fast traffic was just a couple of feet away.
Took this shot just after crossing #1. The trip back seemed better. I'll bet it was that 20 MPH tail wind. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...f/IMG_0215.jpg |
36 miles w/the club, with a breakfast stop at an awesome bakery/deli in the middle. Chilly but felt good to get out.
|
no ride today, but, 37.7 on Sunday, 48 (kind of a club ride) on Tuesday, 5k run on Wednesday, and 31.6 yesterday. Club ride tomorrow

Did 30 on T-day to pay in advance for anticipated pumpkin pie and another 30 today to pay after the fact for the 2nd piece. Went on the American Bike Trail out of Folsom for the first time for both rides. The scenery was wonderful, but the 28-35 degree temp during the 2 hours each day was a bit nippy for this SoCal gal.

Got in a nice 25 mile club ride, called the "Tour de Latte" ride :) I did all the "extra" hills with a "hill crazies" today, boy can I feel it! ;) It was cold at the start but it turned out to get in to the low 50 F's by the time we left a coffee house in Manitou Springs so the ride home felt pretty good! :)

It was 41 degrees at 7 am so i waited until 10 am and 55 degrees before i went out. Good ride, sun was out most of the way out until i hit the foothills, then clouds overhead. Rested some then the wind picked up and blew the clouds east. Sun came out first leg home, did not want to stop as i would cool down. Was going well then felt my left heal tighten. Shut it down and just cruised home at about 14 mph into a head wind. Got in 52 miles. First ride in ten days.

63 miles today, 51 on the club ride plus 12 to/from the park where we meet. chilly temps at the start (upper 30's), but sunny all morning and in the lo 60's when we got done.
|
57 miles, about 30 of it on the MUP, which I normally avoid. However because of the extreeemely windy conditions, it was the best choice. We had 30-35mph winds coming from the NW. I had most of the pain on the way out, and had a nice easy cruise on the way back. 35 degrees, and 30mph wind... Uggh.

Did a mountain bike ride yesterday with a couple of friends. 7 miles of singletrack.
Left the woods around 3:30 just as all the hunters were coming in. |
The weather forecast was a bit off today, they predicted wind and 14 degrees Fahrenheit and little or no snow. The first two were correct but the higher I climbed into the forrest the more it snowed. Very challenging on unplowed roads but all in all a very nice ride. (I stop for cake halfway and put on dry socks and gloves).

Awesome^^^
Today may have been the last dry & warm ride down the Chicago Lakefront. I joined up with Bob & Mike who rode their classic bikes. I rode the modern CX bike. Once the salt gets spread in Chicago, I'll use my winter bike only. 45F with a 15 mph wind from the south. Sunny skies. Thanks for getting me out today, Bob! |
12 miles today in sunny 45F conditions - much more pleasant than yesterday's 10 miles in mid-30's sunny and breezy.
|
Went to a local bar with my wife to watch the Steelers game today and had a couple Sam Adams Winterfest Ales. Once back home it was getting dark and I wimped out and rode on the rollers for one hour.

Mostly sunny and a little cooler in Georgia today, but still very nice. Close to 60. I rode 25 miles checking out some side roads off of the dirt roads I've been riding. As I expected, some ended at kaolin pits. I also took a short unauthorized jaunt down a freshly paved but as yet unopened new road.

Rode a section of the GAP (Greater Allegheny Passage) today short ride 12.5 miles but none the less still riding here. Weather was 38°F when I started light winds, that made for a very nice ride. One thing is that the cold weather has made the GAP almost empty which is really nice. Hoping to get out again tomorrow in the afternoon for a short ride too.

I did my first foothills to the beach ride (70 miles) today. The sky was a clear blue, the temps were in the 50s and the company of a great group of women riders would have combined to make a great ride if it wasn't for the 20+ mph head winds and the 36 mph gusts. A couple of times I thought my bike was going to blow over!
