Rode one of my favorite local routes on the lightest bike in my fleet. Another beautiful Sept day here in the Boston area:

55km today. The summer is still very hot and humid here in Tokyo, so I spent my morning doing laps around the Yoyogi cycling course. The course is shady, and though it was crowded with tourists and kids (today is Sunday), it was better than baking in the sun on the riverside bike path I usually ride on. This week promises to be hot, so I’ll do a few more rides at the park. Next week, when it begins to cool down a bit, I’ll be able to do some decently long rides out to the countryside.

30 miles. Finally, I got to ride into the country after some rain. Ran into this guy along the way.

I got in my first ride in about 2 months, because of some eye and vision issues. Since the affliction is clearing up, my confidence, awareness, and balance has improved. I rode for an hour.

Good day today. 20.2 miles in 1 hr 20 min. Had my PR on a local segment today by a long way.

@nlerner - you are killing it with regular mileage.

I finally got out for a post-refurb shakedown ride on a bike that needs to be 100% dependable - because it will be getting a lot of shaking. Chose to keep fenders because - … well, you might appreciate them in dust and muddy. Focused more on saddle time than speed. 4 hours, and about a 15-20 min lunch.

Rode to the Bills Backers bar to watch the game. Bills win! 7 miles on my fixed gear, giving me 103 miles for this weekend.

I left the house at 7:05 am this morning and got on the bike path. The temp was somewhere in the mid fifties this am when I left the house. I tried a different road to get home which kept me off the bike path for the most part. I was able to get a 22 mile ride today.

WaveyGravey 09-09-24 01:42 PM

Yes. 26 miles.

Rode to a friend’s house to bring him some crusty old pedals that he plans to rehab and put on an old Raleigh 3-speed. I was on my Milwaukee Cycle Company single speed.

Today was a rewind ride day. Did the same route this morning as I did in April 2020 during which I was hit by a wild hog, crashed, got up and with my friend's help holding my bike I got on and rode home. My wife took me to the ER and was told I had cracked 2 ribs, punctured my lung, cracked my scapula plus a left shoulder injury.

During last night's ride I shot a pic of the lighthouse through the heavy sea mist because it looked like a sky full of rainbows. Unfortunately, the pic didn't turn out because of all the water on the lens. Duh! So today I shot a pic of a road that I ride daily. It's usually busy, but the tourists are all gone for the season yea! So far I've been able to maintain my 30 miles/day for 6 days/week. It's been 2 weeks so far. :thumb:

Yesterday - Out on a 1st shakedown ride of a gravel build on pavement and all was good. Today - gravel gotta roll dirt, also another day in which to teach and evaluate the touch points on a saddle time ride. ~40 mostly gravel miles.

At the several river bridges = no salmon yet. Must be downstream awaiting access or after the hatchery folks get their quota.

The International Peace Garden, became The Community Labyrinth. With a whole program of ‘walk the path’. As demonstrated above. I guess a marketing person had an idea….and sold it. Church as Community sounds a good idea.

No photo's today. Didn't ride yesterday for family matters.
Did about 6 miles today of very localized running around, and testing new rear axle and cones kit on the Sekine.
It seems to be working well- almost friction-less.
Hopefully do over ten tomorrow, and check bearing tension.
Knees sure tighten up after one day off the bike. Took about 3 miles for them to loosen a little this afternoon.

I rode to Echo Lake from Golden yesterday, to a high point on the road of 11,200'. 70 miles and 7,000' of climbing. Aspen are starting to turn color. Fast, fun descent in very light traffic, only got passed by a few cars.

john m flores 09-10-24 10:21 AM

No. I'm busy with work and life and my body and mind really need some exercise

pepperbelly 09-10-24 12:08 PM

Did a 6 mile lake lap.
I will post a couple of pics of the interesting obstacles on this path.

Beautiful area pepperbelly.

I managed to get out for 14 miles around noon today. That's later than I usually ride.
I was surprised at how little traffic there was that time of day. And I also noticed how courteous the drivers seemed to be. :)

I was just showing the bollards that prevent a good average speed.
I took a couple of pics of my favorite stretches.

Yes. 21.5 miles of gravel and Chip seal. I need to mix it up from road riding a bit.

I get jealous of the trails up in Pennsylvania and around the Northeast Coast. The guys posting those pics are killing me.

It was up in the hills type of morning. I try to rotate my bikes. Thinking I had just ridden this Heckler a few months ago, it turned out it was last year!

pdlamb 09-12-24 08:21 AM

I decided to join a group ride the LBS "hosts" last night. Kind of a late start from the house, but I pulled into the parking lot right at 6:00; lots of cars and trucks with bike racks there, but no bikes. I figured maybe my watch was slow, and I've ridden this route before, so I decided to see if I could catch up to the group.

On the way, there was a Bird (great blue heron, they're big enough for a capital B!) fishing in an alligator pond. OK, it's a drainage pond for a new subdivision, but the city has put up "beware of alligators" signs all around them. I wonder how long Birds will continue to inhabit those ponds!

Caught up with the group at the turn-around point at the river, and ended up riding back with them. Nice to ride with a group again, and this was more relaxed riding. But is it really necessary for every third or fourth person to yell "car up?" Like, does the lady immediately behind me have to yell in my ear right after I've called and alerted her to another car coming?? And with the sun going down, it's pretty awesome to see two dozen headlights, and pretty blinding to get behind two dozen flashing taillights.

It was interesting to watch the group dwindle on the way home. One person split off within a mile, another one (on a nice road bike with skinny road bike tires) turned off the MUP and took off on a grassy path with a No Trespassing sign. There were a couple miles of suburban streets where the pavement had been ground off, preparing to repave, and that was rough even on my didn't-pump-them-up-before-this-ride 32s.

Back at the bike shop, a couple more folks and I kept going, and pretty soon I was enjoying a cool night ride home. 34 miles round trip, and I'm a little bit stiff this morning.

BTinNYC 09-12-24 08:39 AM

First ride in Spain. It was a little rainy and my buddy took a spill in one of the roundabouts, so we didn't finish the loop. He's OK but a little scuffed up. Hopefully he's good to ride tomorrow, we planned a big one.
