It’s curvy enough to discourage distracted driving. But yeah, I would love a paved trail network that started at the end of my driveway. I have to settle for hilly forested hiking trails.

I was able to get out and ride today it was the first time in almost a week that we didn't have rain. We are in Michigan just south of Detroit and it is almost flat here. I got 19.8 mile ride in but the last 7 or so miles were into the wind. It was nice to be out riding today.

Looks like I'll start 2024!

Rode 54 miles yesterday. Ten miles out to Saguaro National Park, rode the eight mile Scenic Loop Road twice with a group of guys I meet there, then rode 16 miles across town to see the U of Arizona Art Museum. Then 12 miles home. The museum had a Pollock, a Calder, an O'Keefe, the only names there familiar to me. The cycling was a nice mix of urban and rural, with a touch of desert foothills.

Last ride of the year?

OldTryGuy 01-05-24 05:06 AM

Made it out at 9:33pm yesterday for 11.11 miles to keep the 4 day 2024 riding streak going. Couldn't get out early thanks to a PSMA/CT PET Scan to see if/where my Prostate Cancer has returned (metastasized) so not the best way to start off the New Year.

p.s. - breakfast eaten + bike is ready for today's ride :D making it 5+5, 5 days in 2024 and 5 rides plus same as my PCa diagnosis Gleason10 or 5+5

ZWIFT for an hour while it poured rain outside. But after a half hour it was raining sweat inside.

Same here. A lot of rain in the area overnight and this morning, that big storm moving up the east coast. Luckily, no ice (although the mountains just north of me got some) so I rode the new "Canopies and Coastlines" route in Watopia. 17.25 miles. There's a 25 mile club ride tomorrow afternoon, but I'm waiting to see if it warms enough to keep my knee happy.

andrewclaus 01-10-24 05:28 PM

Rode 66 miles mostly flat today, around the Tucson Loop plus a side loop on Indian land out to the San Xavier del Bac Mission, the "White Dove of the Desert." It can be seen for miles, in the Santa Cruz River valley:

That tire track behind your rear wheel with no bike tire track is kinda weird.... Just saying

bharrisonb 01-11-24 02:19 AM

Hi SpedFast ... look closely, the front tire shows a track in the sand, and the rear tire shows the track to the left of the car tire.

I was pulling your leg :) My first thought when I saw the pic was that you got a push. Looked like a good ride.

Took out my latest project on it's shakedown ride this morning up in the mountains. What a fun bike so far. So easy to control, a bit plush in the climbs but on the downhills it's all business. I didn't care if it was cold, muddy, and damp.

I did ride today but quickly found not getting in much saddle time in the last month my muscles were not happy. I was mentally ready to head home after 5 miles but I stuck it out for 7.2. This ol' guy needs more saddle time. Supose to be low 60's tomorrow and no rain so I'll give it another go tomorrow.

essiemyra 01-17-24 06:48 PM

Finally I was able to get a ride in today. I only rode for 12.5 miles but it was my first ride since we arrive here in Corpus Christi, Texas. The weather was on the cool side with the temp only at 45 degrees but sunny. I wasn't very comfortable on one of the roads I rode on. It was state road 359 and it has a great shoulder, but the speed limit on the road is 70mph. It didn't have a lot of semi-trailers so that was nice. I am hoping to find another route to ride tomorrow.

andrewclaus 01-18-24 03:54 PM

Rode out to Colossal Cave Mountain Park outside of Tucson today, 45 mile RT with 1,400' of climbing.

View back to the Rincon Valley below, with the Santa Catalina Mts in the far distance. I live at the base of that range, 20+ miles away.

Got in a nice cold and muddy ride up in the mountains this morning:

I had another nice ride today. Today's ride was 14 miles but no miles on state route 359. It was down side roads that seemed to go nowhere. Which was okay because there wasn't much traffic on the roads. The temp was a nice 65 f degrees this afternoon.

rsbob 01-18-24 08:25 PM

Rode ZWIFT today doing 30 virtual miles with 1000’ of climbing at an average of 172 Watts. One sprint PR. I know that I am “worthless and weak” (from Officer and a Gentleman film) but was running at about 80% effort as not to burn too many matches.

Yesterday was 18 virtuals with 1,800’ at an average of 150 Watts. Tomorrow will be an easy spin day.

rsbob 01-22-24 12:14 AM

114 miles on the trainer this week. (We have had freezing rain, snow and several sub freezing days and a 12 hour power outage just to make it more interesting). Mixing it up with endurance, intervals, and hard one hour efforts. Then took the dog for a 3 mile forest walk climbing 500 feet in a half mile right outside the back door. Got back just before rain started.

essiemyra 01-25-24 07:24 PM

I got out and rode today. The weather was beautiful with the temp at 65 f degrees when I left with sunny blue skies. I got a 20 mile ride in and it was on a bike path and also along a ranch road that has little traffic. This was a great day for riding.
