30 miles. Rain held off. Actually pretty good riding; light breeze, cool enough to be refreshing.
Passed a group of tandem riders. Looked like parents with children. Seemed like a happy group.

96 miles, 8400' elevation gain. Great roads, but rough. My shoulders took a beating bracing against the rough rodes. We were riding near Yosimite. Glad I gave up my triple for a compact, I can live with compact gears. Seems thge ground squirrels were having a "lets run across the road in front of bikers" day. We had a few near misses. We crossed the Clavey, Cherry Creek, and Tuolumne River. The last climb out of Wards Ferry did me in. I was in survival mode to get home. The melt has started, water is high but not turbid. That will change soon with 90 degf+ days.

As June approaches my club gets more serious with ever longer rides.. Today's ride was 72 miles with 14 miles of constant climbing.. 2500 ft of elevation gain.. Great ride, great scenery.. Could have less exhausted , but in our house we never get enough sleep.. When I got back , first I had a beer with the group.. But, the real thirst quencher was about a half gallon of skim milk. Now for a nap.

Yes, I was working the "2nd. Rest Stop" for the "Starlight Spectacular" Night Bicycle Ride, rode from the apt. to the stop 10 miles at 8PM, helped set up and prep the snacks, awaited the "riders". BTW, it was WET and COLD, reported 39F degrees with pouring rain at 2 AM.! The stop closed at 2:30 AM. We did take down and clean up till 3:15 AM., I got my rain gear back on and headed home, making the apt. at 4 AM. this morning. It was a great event, hundreds of riders, wet, cold but with the biggest SMILES and a lot of laughter, so much for bicycle riders being wimps! The bikes were "lighted up" in all fashion's, some rode in costume's, etc. Sure hope it's "SUMMER" come June 2011's edition and not "late FALL" like this year's run! ;)

I got in 60 miles in the Hoosier countryside on a CIBA ride today. At 16.3mph.

Question: If I changed from 26x1.5" tires to 26x1.25" tires a couple of days ago and haven't yet got around to reprogramming the cyclocomputer for the smaller tires, can I still claim to have ridden 60 miles today?

Only if you don't tell us that you changed from 26x1.5" tires to 26x1.25" tires a couple of days ago and haven't yet got around to reprogramming the cyclocomputer for the smaller tires.

Good ride anyway, however far it was?!?! :D

Just a short 20 mile out and back early this morning, plus a quick run to get the Sunday paper. I commute by bike on Mondays (my only day in the office) and that's a 44 mile RT so Sunday is usually a short day for me.

Nearly rode my age in a 52 mile race today. It was the State Cat 4 Road Race Championship and they said we had a field of over 60 riders at the start. Don't know my exact place yet but it was anywhere from 7 to 9th. Final postings will be later today. The race was 4 laps with one climb each lap. On the 4th lap I crested the climb with a group of about 15 and we stayed away from the peleton the rest of the race. Getting over the top of hill at the front really hurt, working to stay in the break really, really hurt but I held on and after few miles we were sure the break would hold and the pace came down, I got my mojo back then we sprinted.

Boy, I recognize where that pic was taken.

I got out for about 3 1/2 hours this morning, before my girls woke up.

It was wonderful. Pretty much the first weekend we've had this year with decent weather and no threat of rain.

I should have cleaned the bike I took out out Thursday night for a group ride, and got caught in the hail storm, but I decided to go for a ride instead.

I'll clean the 'Peg tomorrow.

OK, if you're up on your Winnipeg landmarks, maybe you'll recognize this one.

I guess it was about an hour into my ride when I spotted that sign, and somehow I just knew that was the place to have lunch. Good choice.
I carried on accross town till I found this pathway.

All told, I put on 45 klicks today exploring parts of Winterpeg I'd not seen before.

DnvrFox 06-13-10 06:51 PM

It was raining and 48F and I went out for a 10 mile ride.

Nice twofer weekend. Saturday I did 101 miles in the Shenandoah Valley, from Staunton to Lexington, up to the BRP, and then back down into the valley. Out-ran a humongous thunderstorm, but I beat that sucker by two minutes at most.

Sunday I did 93 miles on the Eastern side of the blue ridge, in Northern Virginia, including 33 miles on Skyline Drive. I've never seen so many bikes on the drive ever. It was thick with them. Hot and humid and hot and humid. And hot. And humid!

kr32 06-14-10 11:59 AM

50 miles from Duck to south of Jockeys Ridge about 5 miles? Not sure where I was inrelation to Hatteras but I was heading that way. Hot and humid but fun and relaxng.

LAriverRat 06-14-10 07:46 PM

55 miles, hot and not very humid. Up and over the Santa Fe Dam to Hwy 39. Head wind on the way back.

BluesDawg 06-14-10 08:42 PM

Hot and humid after work, about 97 degrees. 21 mile road ride on a relatively flat route with a friend from work. We hit it pretty hard and steady. Ribby, my Bridgestone RB-1, wanted a hard workout after being left home while I was on BRAG last week.

LAriverRat 06-16-10 08:08 PM

60 miles today, left at 9am, overcast, 68 degrees, 3 mph wind, perfect weather. Sun broke through on the return leg. Did some personal bests on the way back. Starting to get my legs back.

MangoPumpkin 06-16-10 08:20 PM

Nice and cool in the basement on the trainer for 90 minutes. :D

DX-MAN 06-16-10 08:45 PM

Ohhhh, DID I!!

Started out as a simply utility ride; took the kids -- daughter, 12, and nephew, 7 -- to pay a couple bills. Planned a total 9-1/2 mile RT, since the boy is a little slow (on the bike). We all ride full-suss fat-tires, so the distance may not be much to some of you... but I'm really not concerned about that.

We had a light lunch, and went on a little urban-commando exploration; we wound up stopping at two park playgrounds, and checking out a new section of the local MUP, called the RiverGreenway.

By the time we got home (without any 'crutching along' for my nephew on our part), we'd hit 25 miles! He's already a year ahead of where I thought he'd be!

This
was
TRULY
a
GLORIOUS
day!

38 miles @ Z2 with 4 riding buddies on a glorious Ohio evening. Don't know the average speed as it was "vintage bike or back up bike night" and my vintage Raleigh Super Course TT doesn't have a computer.

wrafl 06-16-10 09:01 PM

51.8 miles this morning. Nice sunny weather in the 70's to lower 80's with light breeze. Forecast for tomorrow is hot and humid in the low 90's for the high.

jdon 06-16-10 09:13 PM

Just a light 20k recovery spin for me. Did a couple of fast century rides on the weekend with two more coming up this weekend.

bjjoondo 06-16-10 09:22 PM

Got in 18 miles in the most hilly Rail Trail path in our area, that I use as a traing ride, brisk wind but high temps so it was a good run.

Dan Burkhart 06-17-10 06:53 PM

I had an unexpected riding partner today. I was just getting my riding gear on and ready to head for the door mid morning when my wife returned home from work with a severance package in her hand.
So, I had to sit down and talk about things for a while, and first thing you know it was lunch time.
Finally I said, well, no good sitting around here moping, lets go for a ride. We loaded up the bikes and headed to one of the nearby rail trails, and had a very nice 30km ride.
At the turn around point, I saw this notice posted on the fence in the parking area. I read it to her and it gave her some much needed comic relief.
