I'm in my 4th week back on the bike after 3 months off due a groin. injury. I lost lots of strength and stamina, but I am slowly rebuilding week by week. Today I did 46 miles and 2,500 feet of climbing. It wasn't as fast as I was riding before the injury, but I felt good for the entire ride. Yes - life is good again!

Decided to skip the organized Fletcher Flyer this morning for an easy ride up the BRP from the Folk Art Center to Craggy Gardens Visitor Center. It was 36 miles roundtrip with 3600' of climbing in 2:45 ride time. Very cool and breezy at the top, 61º with blowing fog, but didn't feel the need for any layers. Nice ride.

After good workouut, 8 miles with wife and then another 12. No wind, temp near 90F, but skies filled with smoke from the Arizona hue fires.

30.9 @ 18.0 today. Nice followup to the 81 yesterday

I just got home from a 65.52 mile loop with some folks from the group. I climbed and descended Laureles Grade and Robinson Canyon, two 12% monsters. 5100 feet of climbing, 5 hours in the saddle. I feel - good!!!

Today I did my first ride after rotator cuff repair in March. Everything feels great, so now to begin increasing the miles and hit the hills, time to make up for lost training time.

My son and I are building up miles in preparation for RAIN. Today we rode 126.8 miles at 15.23mph avg. A storm rolled in really fast and was followed by hours of clouds so the predicted temperature in the mid 90f range never materialized. I doubt it even made it to 90f. Lucky for us.

cruisintx 06-05-11 06:58 PM

got 15 today and 16 yesterday in challenging winds. Puts me at 423 for the year.

I got 10.25 today and thought I had done something.

The Garmin 305 uses barometric elevation so you should turn off the elevation corrections in Garmin Connect.

jppe 06-05-11 08:38 PM

I did an organized century-100 miles with 4000 ft of climbing. It got warm the last hour+. Rode with different groups about half the time.

The wife and I did a nice 27 mile RT ride to Manitou Springs, Summer has arrived finally, over 90 degrees with a lot of "smoke" in the air from brush fires in AZ. and So. CO. Had a chicken, spinach, tomato and goat cheese crape, (found out we don't care for got cheese), lunch, just a real nice day for cruise, no hurry, few hills and lot's of FUN! :D

All righty! I have noticed it defaults to uncorrected elevation. I'll leave it alone. Thanks!

Did the south half of Skyline Drive on Saturday, 112 miles, 9400 ft. of climbing:

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/90310960

I was riding a Trek Madone 5.5 that I haven't ridden on much recently, with a saddle I'm not used to at ALL. By far the most painful part of the ride was in the rear end. I still have a lot in the legs from working up to Mountains of Misery last week.

That's a nice ride. How's the traffic this time of year?

I did 21 miles yesterday. It was perfect weather for it, about 70 degrees and not too windy. This is another personal best and average speed was 12.0.

New Bianchi C2C Infinito

I just got a :)from Texas Cyclesport, It was sweet. The wheels I was advised to pay a-little extra with Carbon. The Carbon wheels help my body recover easier.

Today’s ride:

Left the house at 6:00 AM this morning and rode solo north on the Seminole Wekiva Trail. Stopped at Panera Bread and took a water break and had some breakfast. From Panera I rode north to the horse farms then west to the Sylvan Lake Trail Head. After a short break I headed south and home.

Statistics for: 06/06/2011
Miles today: 63+
Mileage this month May: 219+
Mileage this year: 4194 (59.9 % of my 2011 goal)
Over/under riding days 2011 vs. 2010: +8
Over/under miles 2011 vs. 2010: +1198 miles
Average miles per ride this year: 40.7
Average miles per ride this month: 54+
Number of rides over 50 miles this month/total ride days this mo. 3/4
Miles needed to hit my 2011 goal of 7,000: 28692, and an 8,500 mile year (would be my best ever) is not out of reach.

I'm not going to post any more rides until they're at least 100 miles all uphill, 12% grades in 97 degree heat at 19mph average. Suffering by comparison makes me hate myself.

Stretching, then 25 miles, left at 6:30 am, cool, used windbreaker. Today I did hills - as many as I could find around here.

Here are a couple of pictures of where I went. Followed up with 30 minute swim

Don't let them buffalo you. We enjoy your progress. Let us share in it.

Rode the Los Angeles River Ride century yesterday. I won't be riding today. Legs are a little "weak" right now and I'm a wee bit tired. Probably because I pushed it pretty hard the last 15 miles so that I could keep my average moving speed above what I wanted to average.

bjjoondo 06-06-11 07:02 PM

Alas, just a "LBS Run", 14.14 miles! Had to get more "lights" for the wife's bike, gona be out on the bikes after dark tomorrow.
