I got in over 120 miles last week... and told everyone I know. Got a century this Saturday... it's gonna be hot.
I have to work this Saturday - darn.. :~( |
Usual - stretching, plamks, bridges, etc., then a 20 miler, then a 30 minute swim. GREAT DAY - no or little wind (what a nice change), sunny, a bit cool at 7:00 am, but used arm warmers for a bit. I don't track mileage, but I would guesstimate about 125 for the week,

50 Indiana miles. Left Beech Grove and rode to The Indian Creek Church on Franklin Road.
Met Cathy who drove from Fountain Square. Temps 74*-91* Nice ride. |
Rode 50 minutes this morning on what passes for roads here, most of the time in granny gear, until I starting back down of course.
This is a decent example of what the roads look like, and also the scenery. Today I didn't see a ox cart, but I did have to weave through a herd of cows. http://www.fincaleola.com/Imagenes/T...0ox%20cart.jpg |
With the Memorial Day holiday I had 270+ from Saturday, May 29 thru Saturday, June 4. Just happened to ride a bit more because of the holiday , I had Tuesday morning off, then wanted to get more saddle time on Saturday
|
Did my usual today. Was hot when I left home and hotter when I got back. I gotta start getting up earlier so I can get out on the road earlier.
|
Did a 15 mile R/T coffee run on the tandem. Averaged just over 17 mph with slowdowns for lights and stop signs. Weather is certainly still very mild; wore a windbreaker for about 1/2 the ride. I think we're finally done with rain.
|
To work and back. only 11 mi.
|
Nine and three-quarters miles this evening on the tandem with wife/stoker.
Wow it is humid!! |
20 miles at 14.4
|
17 miles today.

Two-a-Days!
5:30am, did 36 miles before the heat fired up. Nice, cool ride. 2:00pm: my new bike was finished, so i had to ride it. Did another 31 miles in the NINETY-EIGHT DEGREE HEAT. I'm fried, but I sure did like the new bike :) |
Did a club ride yesterday after work, it was 101° /29% humidity. 26 miles and avg 20mph my best ever I think.
It was pretty cool stuff for me. Actually felt good afterwards too. |
I've been in the Amherst, MA area this week, attending a conference. Afternoons are free and I rented a bike from a shop in Northampton. Yesterday I did the Mt. Holyoke climb - about 800 ft with an average grade of 7%. That's maybe not much to some of you, but more of a hill than anything in Minnesota. I was grateful that the rented bike (an older aluminum Cannondale) had a triple. Great views from the top.
Then I tooled around the area - South Hadley, Granby, Belchtertown, for a total of 37 great miles. |
12.4 @ 19.2 this morning

Today’s ride:
Left the house at 6:30 AM this morning and rode with my friend Dick, north on the Seminole Wekiva Trail. Stopped at Panera Bread and took a water break and had some breakfast. From Panera we rode north to the horse farms then west to the Sylvan Lake Trail Head. After a short break we headed south and home. Dick is a retired lawyer so most of our conversation centered on the Casey Anthony trial that is taking place here in Orlando. He and I have different views on the guilt or innocence of Casey Anthony so it made for a good debate and made the miles go by real fast. Statistics for: 06/09/2011 Miles today: 62+ Mileage this month May: 325+ (on track for another 1,000 mile month) Mileage this year: 4302 (61.4 % of my 2011 goal) Over/under riding days 2011 vs. 2010: +8 Over/under miles 2011 vs. 2010: +1252 miles Average miles per ride this year: 40.9 Average miles per ride this month: 54+ Number of rides over 50 miles this month/total ride days this mo. 4/6 Metric Centuries this month: 2 Miles needed to hit my 2011 goal of 7,000: 2697, and an 8,500 mile year (would be my best ever) is not out of reach. |
Got in 66+ miles today, the last ride before I load the bikes up on the RV and head out to see some of the great grand and grand kids. I am packing all my warm weather gear cause Idaho and Mt Shasta can be cold still. Going to Oregon and Washington but not planning on ridding there. The last time we went to Mt Shasta I got ready to leave the house on a ride and it was 38 degrees out. It will be nice to see the kids and get out of the heat of the Arizona desert too.

I rode an hour this morning before daylight and went no where. That means the trainer. Its probably a sin to ride the trainer this time of year but, I just can't find the time these days to ride on the weekdays. I have to make up for this on the weekends.

Let me know next time you're in the mid area of Va and I will come meet you for a cruise. |
Errands - 12 miles
|
Today was my distance day ride of the week. Put in 60.2mi at a 14+mph avg. Had a blast.
|
Just a quick 17 mile test ride of the Cannondale I took out briefly last Sunday. The shop is cool with extended test rides, but I didn't want to push it, so I went with the C group from their shop tonight. We probably averaged about 15MPH or so.
They have so many people show up for these rides they've taken to breaking them into 5 groups. Fastest/farthest - to - slowest/shortest they're: As, Killer Bs, Honey Bs, Bumble Bs and Cs. |
I climbed Loveland Pass again today. Temps at the top were in the upper 30's... windchill on the descent was pretty cold.
