Rode to the north end of town to get my friends mail from his PO box. 21.75 RT, sunny, 80+, breezy, rode the Sinton Trail, which is the only "tree covered" trail we seem to have here in Colorado Springs, all the others let the sun burn down on you. Sadly, it's not a very long trail but very enjoyable.

20 miles to and in Cherry Creek State Park. The leaves are getting very golden and some reds. The lake was almost empty of boats.

About 25 miles in the daylight, followed by a nice ride home after dark ride tonight. Every once in a while there were swarms of little black bugs, and a couple of big bugs. When I got home I realized that when I wiped some of the little bugs off my brand new safety yellow jersey, it made little black smudges on the yellow. Then after taking my helmet off, I brushed my hair and a big bug came out. yuck.
After pre soaking the black spots the jersey came out of the wash OK. Whew!

An easy evening ride just now, 16 miles at a moderate 15 MPH pace, which followed an 11 mile training run this morning. Tomorrow - work!!!! Yikes....

VertigoFlyer 09-28-11 11:57 PM

We went out and did 24.8 miles. It felt great after missing a few days due to busy schedules.

kr32 09-29-11 08:38 PM

bjjoondo 09-30-11 02:55 PM

20.53 miles, check out http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...u-Today/page43 #1052 for photos and more! :)

Barrettscv 09-30-11 03:03 PM

34 miles in 1 hour, 52 minutes. 50 to 55F, steady wind from 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts.

Dressed in October layers with everything, but the head, well covered but without much bulk. Plenty of forest debris on the wooded path.

RonH 09-30-11 03:56 PM

Did 33 miles. The first cold front of the season came through this morning so I had a slight tailwind on the way out and a stronger headwind all the way home, but for some reason my average speed for the ride was faster than it has been all summer. Hmmm.

teachme 09-30-11 04:22 PM

25 miles, commuted to school and back.

I used to commute to my school - 18 miles each way - and there was a shower in the gym I used. After awhile, I could not do that, so I took my bike with me in the car, and rode on some trails near the school after work.

Good for you.

GaryPitts 09-30-11 05:21 PM

Nope. I took the day off cause I've already logged 600 miles this month and I wanted to work on the bike. After 4 months, I'm still adjusting it to suit me :)

Work has been ominously slow lately, so I decided to take a vacation day, and hit up Skyline Drive again in Shenandoah NP. I figured this would be one of the last safe weekends before leaf peeping season begins in earnest. The leaves were just starting to turn, but there were a lot of them on the road. The surface was beautiful. They finished repaving the section I rode on since the last time I rode it. It was cooler than I expected. I kept my arm warmers on for most of the ride. For a little spice I rode off the park down into Stanardsville. That climb back up was harder than I expected. I can tell I haven't been doing much real climbing lately.

Sounds like fun. I love that area of the country. My wife was born in DC, and one of her favorite places is Skyline Drive.

Jim nice ride. I am taking off the 10th 11th an 12th next week and was thinking of going there to ride one of those days, more than likely the 11th.
I may shadow this ride and see how I do compared to you.( I know slower but hey it's all fun)

22 miles in 65 F air and bright sunshine. Nice way to start my Saturday. :thumb:

I took an easy birthday ride on a windy day in the Windy City. I didn't track distance, about 25 miles, I think.

I went along the Chicago Lakefront to view the 10' waves crashing along the bike path. Had to use the grassy embankment to get around the lower sections that were soaked and getting direct wave action.

A 20 mph head-wind made the northbound trip a 15 mph workout. Who needs hills when you have the wind?

kr32 10-01-11 01:20 PM

36 miles and 50° when I started as well as raining. My very first time starting a ride in the rain and more than likely my last time I start a ride in the rain.

had a flat too.

DnvrFox 10-01-11 01:50 PM

20 miles interrupted by a swim and lunch with wife. Glorious day - no wind, blue sky. About 75F average.

rck 10-01-11 02:17 PM

40 miles on the Badger trail with the high point being a flock of sand hill cranes.

teachme 10-01-11 06:13 PM

10 smiles to the river and back; accompanied by my wife on her Trek Lexa.

rdtompki 10-01-11 08:09 PM

47 miles on the tandem with about 2100' of climbing. <50ft/mi is reasonable, but over 1/2 of the climbing was in one short climb, 4 miles with 1100+' of climbing: a bit much for us oldsters on a tandem.

VertigoFlyer 10-01-11 11:24 PM

We did an easy ride today. Wife wasn't feeling well and I'm actually impressed she came out with me!

Here is a link to the route on imapmyride.com

Did an early morning (in the dark, mostly) ride over the MUPS. Only folks I met were two ladies jogging, also in the dark, with one headband light. I have two 53 LED lights in the front, which can be seen about a mile away. However, these two ladies were so engrossed in their conversation that they failed to see me, which I didn't realize until I was almost up to them. I pulled to the side of the trail, she noticed me at the last minute - no harm - no foul. However, it is not the first time that I have had to call attention to myself (rather lloudly) when two - or more - ladies get in heavy conversation while walking - or bicycling!!

In any event I had a GREAT short ride (going to church this am, and wife wants to take a short walk, also,)

Barrettscv 10-02-11 03:03 PM

A 75 miles solo ride under perfect blue skys. I had 50 to 60f temps and a mild headwind for the first 40 miles. Felt well during the last 1/3 of the route and was still holding a 18 to 20 mph pace. I need to do a ride like this every week.
