Hey folks, We did a ride today in changing weather in the Snoqualmie Valley. Sure we got wet and the wind was a blowin quite briskly! But what really sent us home was the leaky bladder in my Osprey hydration pack!!

As soon as we got going I was getting very wet indeed below the pack!! Holy cow why am I ALL WET!! LOL!!

We stopped and I pulled out the bladder and sure enough it's pissing like crazy! GRRRRRR!! It's bad enough that the weather was sucky then this happens. It seemed to stop but over time it kept dousing me. So between that and the gusts over 30MPH we bailed and went home.

Spose I should have HTFU and left the pack at home. Oh well.

Yeah, I had that happen once. Now I use water bottles. Not fun at all.

17 mile ride with a neighboring club. Several fast segments with waits at intersections for all to catch up.

25 miles with the wife on the tandem, stopped in Manitou Springs and got some ice cream. Sat on the patio and did some "people watching", (funky little tourist town), then rode home in the excellent So. CO. sunshine, low 80's slight breeze, man what a day to be out riding! :D

45 mile club ride on a gorgeous sunday morning - mid 60s and partly sunny. started out with a big group but most were going long, whereas I only had time to go short, so after the first rest stop at about 27 miles, it was just a handful of us. Rode much of the return route with a new club member who, despite being pretty much a novice, kept on my wheel even on the hills. He had lots of enthusiasm and I think he's going to be a very strong rider when he gets a few thousand miles under his belt. After the ride, he was very appreciative of being able to draft all that way, but I predict that in a year or so, I'll be hanging on his wheel. In a couple of years, he'll be old enough for the 50+ forum. Anyway, it was a joy to be out riding today. Legs felt great, too.

15 miles this morning.

Big Dam Bridge 100 on Saturday. Whoever laid out the route was a sadistic non-cyclist. 5,000' of climbing all of which started after mile 65 and all but the last 5 blocks of the entire ride was into prevailing winds. But it was a beautiful day and there were plenty of well-stocked rest stops. My first completed century, 6:50 saddle time.

16 days of riding and I've gone from 2 miles, to 17.1 this morning, and after a rest I feel great.
The last mile was very hard though, we'll see if it's this bad in a week or two.

20 miles RT, just a flyer to see how the new Coda Sport performs! That and there were a lot "clouds" so I did my best to "push" it a bit. LOL, yes I know my PUSH would be a "recovery ride" for most of you! ;) 20 miles/13.0 avg. speed, that's 2 mph faster than normal for this worn out/arthritic riddled body! :) It's been awhile since I've had a bike that can faster "uphill", sweet!

No ride today, I woke up sounding like James Earl Jones, with a throat that felt like it had been gone over with a wood rasp. No riding for the rest of the week, as it's supposed to rain and I am not pushing it, didn't go to work today, and not going in tomorrow either. I don't have paid sick days, so it's not something I take lightly.

DnvrFox 09-26-11 06:42 PM

stretch, planks, bridges, pull ups, bench press then 20 miles, then swim

21 miles along the lakefront. Hit or miss showers have been in the area for 5 days now. Most of the ride was humid, but rain free.

Traffic to and from the lakefront was slow. Once I got to MUP I was able to hold a 19 mph average in windy conditions.

13 miles after work today. Dry and breezy. Poured down rain for a change yesterday.

Ouch. Just reading that was painful. I hope you recover soon.

22 mile recovery ride today for the triathlon I did yesterday. A flat tire in that race cost me valuable time and probably several positions, but I still would have been mid field. No matter, it was fun! So was today's ride!

OKIE_55 09-27-11 11:39 AM

I was going to rest today from being sore after the 17 miles yesterday, BUT, I rode to Publix to use their scale.
Ended up being 9 miles and I feel better than when I left.

teachme 09-27-11 11:57 AM

15 early morning miles.

missjean 09-27-11 02:25 PM

Yesterday I only had time for a short ride, so I decided to push myself and did 14 miles on & off the local rail trail with an average speed of 17.1, which is pretty fast for me!
Today I didn't really feel like riding, but it is going to rain tomorrow, and it is so sunny today I made myself go, and I'm very glad I did. It was 20 miles, with the first 3 spent not listening to myself telling me I wanted to turn around and go home & the next 17 happy I didn't listen to myself.

35 mile ride Sunday. Temperature was 95 degrees F with high humidity, but as the sun began to set, conditions became pleasant. Beautiful scenery, beautiful sky...I wish I could rewind the ride and start over!

Yeah... Sometimes riding is like going to church; hardly ever want to go, but always glad when I get there. :thumb:

20 early morning smiles.

Hello, mods, sticky!!!!

jmiked 09-28-11 11:45 AM

Rode 10 miles this morning... longest ride so far since the surgery. Temperatures are coming down next week, so I'll start going for longer distances.

Are you asking for this thread to be made a sticky? If so, why? It's popular enough that it's always close to the top. And if it isn't popular enough to stay near the top it should fade away and somebody can start another one. It's too long now, I can't imagine anyone would read through all 263 (and counting) pages.

18 miles on the double track levee beside the Tenn-Tom Waterway. So I count it as mountain biking. Semi slicks worked pretty good on the loose rock. Saw 3 deer, a flock of turkeys and one fairly large bunny rabbit. Got what I paid for when I was given a walmart water bottle holder so lost my water about halfway in.

My wife and I babysat yesterday for a set of twins (almost 5 month old) in our extended family. Got there at 11AM and stayed until 6:30PM. We were exhausted when we got home. :o
I really needed to ride today to get the kinks out from babysitting. Did my usual 30 miles. Then went for a massage. :)
