Almost got killed on the morning group ride this AM. Riding along the river road in a group of 8, an SUV coming in the opposite direction veered to the left side of the road and came right at us. We all hit the brakes and moved hard to the right - several of us jumping the curb and/or falling over onto the grass. Somehow we managed not to hit each other. Just before hitting us he veered back into his lane. He had NO reason to come into our lane and we don't know if he had malicious intent or if he was crazy/drunk/stoned/nodding off. But he scared the crap out of us.
Sadly, none of us had the presence of mind to get his license plate. Other than that, it was a fine sunny morning for a ride.... Be careful out there folks. |

I rode a new 51 mile route with 3 50+ members of the bike club. Our last long ride before the century next weekend in Sandersville. The route worked out well, but we won't be able to ride it quite that way as one of the main connecting roads will be shut down for several months by a bridge reconstruction project. :(

25 mile solo
|
23 miles, starting out in the low 60s F under a severely clear blue sky. Nice!
|
42 miles with my local group. The weather was a drizzly fog that got the roads just wet enough to get a fine dirt spray coming off your wheels. :notamused:
|
First chance to ride in just over a week, thought I would take it slow, went around one of my favourite shorty loops (it's about 12km), thought it went so well, I went around a second time, might have tried for a third, but noted the missus was home, from being out of town for 3 days.

I will be in the woods until the leaves are gone and the hunters take over

Nice CX ride on forrestroads, 50 miles and 4600 feet of climbing, great cool autumn weather.
|
On and off the bike three times today. A morning ride was cut short by a cold rain. I spent the morning cleaning the man cave. Rode again to bring a bike to the LBS. Finally got a longer ride for a few hours before dinner.
|
Only, about 25 miles. Hot and humid. Rain bike with fenders, wet ground.
|
After waiting 3+ weeks for a replacement seat frame for my long wheelbase 'bent, finally got it on Wed., (waranteed by RANS) put things back together on Thursday, went for a quick 10 mile ride Friday, and got out for a nice 20 mile ride today before the rain rolled in. My backup 'bent can now resume it's role as Commuter 'Bent.

My first 30 mile ride today on the MUP. Took just a little over 2 hours.

60 miles on the tandem at the Lighthouse Century (San Luis Obispo, CA). Misty for the first 45 miles, but the last 15 miles coming home were dry and sunny. Not a bad ride considering how badly my business travel has cut into our riding.
|
24 miles with the wife on the tandem, breezy but sunny and warm. Stopped for Chocolate cake downtown, YUM!! :)

My wife and I rode for 20 smiles this morning. At the 10 mile mark we stopped at the "Donut Hole" for a Bacon and egg croisant.http://i842.photobucket.com/albums/z...925_101933.jpgGuilt free cuisine, as long as we are putting in the miles.

We back yesterday from a week in FL. No bike. :( We were there visiting family this time.
After 6 days of sitting and driving and eating and sitting and driving and eating and ..... I needed a ride today. Did my usual ride to Stone Mtn --- 30 miles. :) |
That was probably the hardest 61 mile ride I've done in a long time. My legs were really sore to start from my hiking over the past two days and the course never gave me a chance. My Garmin messed up in the rain so my elevation profile is whack. But the ride info states either 5450' or 5700' depending on which page of the website one reads. It felt every bit of that gain and a lot of it was between 12-18%. The rain let up just before the ride took off but we had wet roads for more than the first couple hours which made the descents tricky and slow. Anyway, glad I did it but it worked me pretty well. 61.5 miles in 4:28 ride time with a bit extra for a few quick stops at sags.
Best part was getting home to watch the Giants beat the Eagles on dvr. Go Blue! |

Knowing it would be a "family day" - I went out this morning at 6:00 am in the dark using my lights for a short ride - scared up 3 deer, one of whom crossed directly in front of me in the dark, the other two who were bounding along the greenway with anothe bicycler sort of scaring them along, but they almost bounded into me.
I saw two joggers with a flashlight headband, one walker and two bicyclists. About 12 miles total. |
Got up early to check weather.com. Not favorable for today's club ride. Sure enough, it has rained pretty much all day. Monday is supposed to be much improved. Zero miles today.

Hey folks, We did a ride today in changing weather in the Snoqualmie Valley. Sure we got wet and the wind was a blowin quite briskly! But what really sent us home was the leaky bladder in my Osprey hydration pack!!
As soon as we got going I was getting very wet indeed below the pack!! Holy cow why am I ALL WET!! LOL!! We stopped and I pulled out the bladder and sure enough it's pissing like crazy! GRRRRRR!! It's bad enough that the weather was sucky then this happens. It seemed to stop but over time it kept dousing me. So between that and the gusts over 30MPH we bailed and went home. Spose I should have HTFU and left the pack at home. Oh well. |
