I'll be 50 in a 3 months but a good few body parts are way, way ahead of the rest.

My neck and back are acting up so hope this wasn't the last ride for a bit, but it was a sweet little 11 miler.

The weather is so nice and cool this morning, and I can't ride! I went out yesterday riding barefoot for about an hour on "The General" my big cruiser. I stopped to admire my neighbor's garden before heading up my driveway and stepped on a piece of glass. AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH it sliced the bottom of my foot and today I can hardly walk. It's supposed to rain all weekend so I'll be back on the bikes Monday!

DnvrFox 10-01-10 08:36 AM

Still having terrible pain at night and can't sleep.

Anyway, it was 49F at 6:00 am this morning, and I went and challenged some hills for 2 hours after some stretching and a bit of resistance exercises.

Nice pictures. That road surface looks sort of rough, is it? I would think it would give a small buzzing on the hands as you ride.

71 miles, delivered some files for my wife. Mostly sunny, some thunder heads, 70 when i left 91 on my return. All and all a good ride. Just one old lady who tried for a 2 for 1.
She made a left in front of me, i did a hard stop, then she almost ran over the pedestrian in the crosswalk. I had the right of way, the pedestrian had the right of way, made no difference for the old lady.

Err . . . .

You are aware that some of us here in the 50+ forum are at the age where others might call us "old (lady, man, whatever)". Perhaps it is not the "old" part. Maybe this lady has been unawares all her life, not related to her age?? Ya think?

No, she would have had a Darwin Award already if she had been doing that all her life. I am 65, no spring chicken, i just call them as i see them. Especially if its me who was just about to be road kill, not to mention the ped as well.

Nope, but this is the first day this week I haven't ridden. Drivin' up to Hood River for a 200k tomorrow - the "last hurrah" for my rando season.

Just 18 miles today. Cut it short because I am recovering from an ulcer that has been bothering me to three weeks. Wonder whether it is the one I had at 14 that returned?

Went out a 5:45. temp was 46 F, scared up a bunch of deer with my headlights, got a hoot owl a-hootin. Back to home at 7:45, going out with wife for a short ride now.

We are spending a long weekend in Nags Head NC. I rode with the local group ride this AM for 20 miles then added another 34 of my own. Several of the local guys are racing cyclo cross on Sunday and only wanted to do a short ride.

kh6idf 10-02-10 11:21 AM

My wife and I rode 31 miles early this morning in PERFECT (low 70's) weather with a group from the bike shop. Anyone in the area who wasn't out riding was really missing out today.

Fredster 10-02-10 02:25 PM

I rode about a 25 mile loop from NJ towpath across (Delaware river) bridge to PA towpath and back across another bridge to NJ again. River pretty high and muddy after all of the rain from Tropical storm Nicole.

The Weak Link 10-02-10 02:46 PM

It was the best of rides.

It was the worst of rides.

A big part of it just sucked out loud.

It was beautiful all morning and if I would have left at my usual Saturday ride time of 9 I would have been fine. Instead I dithered around and didn't leave until 1145. I rode out 23 miles to the Eminence Dairy Queen, where I concluded that banana splits are a pretty good product mid-ride.

On the way back a cold front roared in from the north, with winds gusting up to 30 or more, almost all of which cut perpendicular to my path. The temp also dropped 15 degrees within the space of an hour. I feared for my life for about an hour of it.

But it could have been worse. I could have flatted.

I believe I rode with those same dudes when I was down there in June.
Did you ride in Duck Woods by the golf Course and maybe south on some back roads and a bike path to the Wrights Memorial?
They were some nice guys to ride with.

Well you could have had your soul crushed by Big Betty on a beach cruiser while she was riding one handed eating an ice cream cone with the other.

Sounds like a bad ride to be honest, the weather can be brutal at times.
