I can't claim the distance or time that rsbob did in the previous post, but I still had a good ride haha. Kudos to rsbob for that achievement and the great pics. I took this pic yesterday, but I had a wifi problem and couldn't post so I'm including it today. I only did 25 yesterday and the same today. The CG were training extracting their frogs from the water and depositing them on a cutter just upstream. They had the guy dangling in a harness, but by the time I got my camera free, he was in the water. If you look real close you can see what looks like a log, that's a CG frog haha.

If I end up driving up there just to ride those trails you have to deal with my wife! 😄 one of the best things about that ride - post ride beer and sandwiches and pizza @ Mountain State Brewing in Morgantown outdoor seating next to adjacent trail - great beer selection on tap - and outstanding chicken and pork sandwiches - meats slow roasted on their wood fired oven (resembles a small igloo) , https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6ddb5a3c0.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6dd848f66.jpeg |

Today's ride marked 5 years to the Day, Hour, Minute and Second since being hit by a WILD HOG while I was riding. Ride was in reverse and almost to the milage but due to road closures I had to create some magic. p.s. - being hit by a 2nd Wild Hog during another ride 27 months later plus age and declining health (Prostate Cancer) means slow and difficult riding but getting on my bikes equals Quality of LIFE

Winds gusting at 25 mph and 46°, so I took my lumps in the basement.

Vintage bike ride with my son. We can ride the same size frame, so we swapped halfway and I got to ride 2 bikes I haven’t been on in many weeks.
I procrastinated buying a 50+ jersey, so finally got one - only updated. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9df9c5ffa.jpeg ‘87 Bianchi Vittoria. |
Didn't get to do the 40 miler planned for Saturday. Family matters. Just as well- would have had to deal with some wicked winds, anyways.
I should try and get a long ride in before it starts getting hot here. Time to brainstorm something. -D.S. |
I got out for a 20 mile ride this morning. Due to a cancellation of a plan. I was able to leave the house at 8:30 AM.

Sunday, volunteered again at the Seattle/King County health clinic as an escort to medical services. 5.8 miles and 72 flights climbed. A good quad workout with lots of satisfaction, smiles and ‘Thank yous’.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...b8926c030.jpeg Today, I spent an hour at the hardware store buying irrigation repair stuff for a line I axe-identally damaged, and then hose and connectors and other stuff to repair out leaking water feature, and then prepping for repair. Then 1 hour gardening and troubleshooting another irrigation issue which I fortunately had the part on hand to fix. So no riding in 4 days and eye exam and rain tomorrow. |

Out on the trailway. My friend's first ride of the year and I was happy to go low and slow.

Only did 35 miles today. I knew it was going to be a brutal return when I headed out and was doing 25mph plus and felt as though I were in a vacuum. It turned into a real slog getting back haha That headwind was brutal alright :)
|
125km today. And it was brutal. The wind was coming out of the northwest, so I headed out into it, riding through 20km of Tokyo rush hour traffic to get to the river cycling trail. Once on the trail, I pushed my way through the wind, consoling myself with knowing that it would push me back later in the ride. I hit my turnaround point and started back, and the wind stopped, which was a bad sign. As I headed back toward the city, the wind changed directions, and soon it was twice as bad as that I had ridden into in the first half of my ride. I kept up the pace as best I could, as I had to meet my daughter's school bus. As usual, I got a second wind in the final 20km of my ride, and I flew across the city, and got back in to take a shower before heading to the bus stop. I feel pretty blown out, so I'll do it again on Friday.

I left the house this morning at 7:30 am and came back by 8:10 am. The wind was gusting up to 35mph and I went out to see if I wanted to ride. Nope I wasn't up for those winds. I got a six mile ride. At lunch time I took my bike over to the senior center as I was going over to play cards. So another four miles, but the winds had not really let up so it was a direct ride both ways.

Rode 31 miles.

About 23-24 miles today between two LBS's and home, and off route coffee etc.
https://i.imgur.com/aoD38gL.jpg Some detours along the way through downtown to the 2nd LBS. The Jets are playing game 5 with St. Louis tonight, and about 3 city blocks are closed, all on different streets. https://i.imgur.com/LQ0fcMI.jpg Bike is starting to look a little more like what a mid level trainer Motobecane should look like.... -D.S. |
