Yes! First ride on the new Strong! Did a 36 mile hammerfest with the fast kids...talk about a trial by fire to shake out any problems with the bike!
I'm happy to report: There were none. This bike freakin' rocks! |
Went for a short ride around our subdivision with my eight year old daughter. Weather was partly cloudy and 77F. Spring is coming early to south Louisiana.
Got in windy 55 miles today after a foggy 100 mile ride yesterday.
52 miles with 3200' of climbing on the single for a change. Moderate temps - high 40's at the start, probably mid-50's at the end.
2.5 hours with 4 other riders. It was cool @ 30 degrees with 15mph winds and we finished right ahead of 2" of snow. Nice easier pace with high cadence, but nice to get out once again with buddies.

Rode 20 miles yesterday in 15 MPH wind at times - Not as far as some, but definitely up from where I was. I guess the flipside of my bike's upright geometry is when I put the wind to my back and get to play sailbike, if only for a while. :thumb: |
Yes,17 miles on a mountain bike. Strange. Cold and sunny, one flat.
Cold rainy and its Sunday, the day of rest.
66 miles, 5000 ft of climbing. Did the local favorite "Blue Ridger" ride, plus tacked on some extra miles on the rolling hills around Middleburg and The Plains.
Was sitting around thinking it was too cold, yeah I have become a wuss, and sort of waiting the the Daytona 500 to come on, decided riding was a better decision so I went for 38 miles.I played around with new camera trying to take movies and stopped several times fiddling around with that.. I did a few hill repeats and burned my legs pretty good.
I got home and saw the last few laps of the race---ho-hum as far as the race, glad I rode the bike instead. It wasn't that cold out either. high 40's light winds. |
58 miles on Saturday. Managed to miss the rain by 10-15 minutes.
Got out for a one hour zone 2 hill climb this morning. 1950' elevation gain in 6.2 miles up. Very windy.
Walk to pool.
Swim 40 minutes Walk home Later about a 2.5 hour bicycle ride. About 41F, with maybe a 10 mph wind Average speed - fast enough Distance - far enough Smiles - a whole lot |
33 miler in 50 degree weather. I had to ride slowly through a place where the road was flooded, and my feet got soaked. But my wool socks are good insulators even when wet, so it was cold but tolerable.

Went out for my first ride today since the Century a bit over a week ago. Since i'm still having trouble walking after the fall, I wasn't sure how being on the bike would be. Did 20 miles with some hill-climbing and I felt good - make that great! It is so much easier for me to get around on the bike compared to simply trying to use my legs. If I could just manage to get the bike to take me up and down stairs, I would ride it indoors.
Who needs to ride to get exercise when you can shovel the snow out of your driveway? Punxsutawney Phil for President?

70+ miles. Great day, cool at the start, but still, hard to beat.

Double-dip today. 19 miles on the tandem in windy conditions; might have been an overdo with all the gym work in the am. 8 miles of equine cardio in the hills.
^Wow, I don't think I've ever had a ride that long with only 800' of climbing. Must be really flat.
I rode just a few miles. Temperature was about 28ºF. First, I rode to see a client, about 1.5 miles away. Then back home. Later, I rode about two miles each way, in the dark, to help someone with getting pedals and handlebar off a bike. I got there too late, after he had closed his store. Oh well. I had a nice ride anyway.
The more I ride in the cold, the easier it gets. It feels comfortable and natural to me by now. No troubles! |
Yea this route is pretty flat. Next week I start doing more hills for the upcoming Tour de Phoenix, which is renamed Tour de Mesa this year I think.
Rented a bike from the LBS. Rode about 30 minutes (4-5 miles).
First ride in 30 years (and 20 years of smoking). Was fun and a little scary. Now if I could only stop over analyzing things and buy a damn bike..... |

Good point, fox. Buy a $400-500 bike, so it will be a good bike but not too fancy. Then you can decide if you want a road bike, a city bike, or whatever.
