19.6 miles @15-18mph on the Roubaix. Decided to ride the river bike path twice and went home a different way. Warm temps, overcast, short sleeves, perfect riding day except for the smoke (big fire in neighboring California). Got a little thick near the end. 2015: 3679 Miles ♂ Monthly Avgs: Day 18 · Wk 129 2013-2015: 8352 Miles · Total Avgs: Day 16 · Wk 113 Allez 892.9 · Roubaix 950.8 · Sirrus 523.0 · Trike 1311.9 Thought you might get a kick out of this. 14.25 miles in 55:45 for a nice, gentle, 15.3 mph pace.

Looks like a nice area to ride. I'm hoping in the photo above that the bike is resting against the water bottle. Its far too nice of a bike to lean the top tube directly against the lamp post!

34 miles, 850ft. Nice little leisure suit jaunt at 2:20min total.

43.4 miles @ 16.7 mph with 1283 ft. Gave me 214.1 miles for the week. I think that's my all time high mileage week. It's easy to rack up the miles here in Montauk. Unfortunately it's back home tomorrow.

My stoker and I rode 2 of the three available loops of a club ride today - 49 miles starting and ending at Falls Park in Pendleton.

Catching up on posting my rides, Friday was 26 miles, Saturday was 26.3, using one of the alternate routes I got into this summer, Sunday was 26 miles, back to the work horse route.
Butch, that is a beautiful Fuji there, very well turned out. You are certainly a tall drink of water:eek:, judging by the frame size.:D Bill |

Had a great 55 mile random ride today, no idea what the speed was but three hours, more or less. I'd planned on about 30, with no breakfast and no provisions, but with perfect weather it felt good so I just kept going.
Weird thing though, after getting home my legs were sore, almost painfully, hobbled. That hasn't happened in years so I was writing it off to being in less than top shape, more than the usual hills and maybe just age but after having a few beef ribs less than a half hour later, the soreness evaporated. Completely gone. I've never had muscle soreness just disappear like that. |
Group ride today with two occasional riders on Townies. Slow ride but a nice 20.3 miles (24.3 total for me) in comfortably overcast weather. Still a little hazy but no too bad. Any day you can ride is a good day.

20 miles as a bike commuter today. Cool enough in the AM to wear tights instead of shorts for the first time since early Spring. Sunny and warm on the way home.

Yesterday, a nice ride in fall like weather, my regular 26 miles. We are supposed to return to the usual late summer swelter by this weekend, its been a nice 4 day period with pleasant temps, usually in the mid-50s at night and highs in the low-80s to high-70s. The low humidity is the biggest bonus, when we get below 75% RH, its like the A/C is on, for us.
So far the mileage for the year is doing pretty much right on schedule, I crossed 5,000 miles for the YTD, last week. Couldn't complain even if I wanted to. Bill |
35 miles total. 32 miles solo and three with the wife. Gorgeous weather for riding these past two days.

Only a 1.5mi ride today. Topping 35mph. Cranking an avg of 28.1. Moving from 36th to 5th.
Been putting off this sprint for 3yrs. Not bad for an old guy. :) http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...DED62762B7.png |
One loop around Acadia NP's Park Loop Road on the vintage tandem.

19.6 miles on the Allez. After extoling the virtues of the much less expensive CST CZAR tires, I had a problem. Thump thump thump - the bead wasn't seated properly onto the rim above the filler valve. I limped home, took the rear wheel off, pushed the tube up in past the bead (the edge of the tube was keeping it from seating) and refilled it. Amazingly it didn't pinch the tube. Viola! Operator error. The simple, stupid things we do, huh?

23 miles today as a Bike Commuter. Just about perfect weather......:thumb:

Back home from Montauk that's a bummer but it was a spectacular day back in the hood. 23.2 miles with an interval workout in the mix. 79 deg light wind.

Good day yesterday.
Out at 0800 on the Giant for Tuesday's 42.5 mile club ride plus 23.5 miles on my own. With rains threatening I headed out at 1715 on the '83 Paramount for the LBS TEMPO ride. Nice group of younger hot shots worked this older guy. Added another 36 miles. Stayed dry!!!!! |
Yesterday was a scheduled rest day, so I put the new pair of Gatorskins on, cleaned up the cassette, cleaned and greased the front wheel's bearings, and installed the new X-5 Speedplay pedals. Took my time with mounting the Speedplay cleats on my shoes. Getting the shims right, and the plates fitted correctly to the soles seemed to be more than important, from reading through the instruction sheet. Not difficult at all, to get the correct plates in place on the 3 screw adapters I need for my Sidi Genius Fives. Productive day on the maintenance front.

A nice 44 mile ride with my buddy, Marcel. Overcast skies and temps in the upper 70's made for a great day to ride.

Cold yesterday, even colder today - low 50s, and much wind. It's like riding uphill. You ever notice that whichever way the wind is blowing you're riding directly into it? Mother nature has a sense of humor. Fortunately the RockBros long cycling pants (stop-rip w/zippered pockets, $18.99 ebay) arrived yesterday. And the safety green (hooded) windbreaker (won a bid for $10.61). I don't pay retail (I'm old and poor). Rather spend $$$ on :giver: 2015: 3742 Miles ♂ Monthly Avgs: Day 19 · Wk 133 2013-2015: 8369 Miles · Total Avgs: Day 17 · Wk 112 Allez 909.4 · Roubaix 998.1 · Sirrus 523.0 · Trike 1311.9 |
