Yesterday was the regular 26+ miles, but a bit different as to the route, kind of wandered about to get the mileage. Not going to be here for the weekend, visiting our daughter in Atlanta, GA.

The weather has been most cooperative these past few months. A bit cool in the AM but great for cycling. Ran out of time so I didn't take the Queen Way loop today. 18.6 on the trike 13-15mph. The left wrist is 90% healed but the right hand is at it again. Fortunately I still have Prednisone. Lightened the trike last night by removing the bags and rack. I did, however, mount the pump on the back of the seat and stuffed an extra 20" tube in the jury-rigged underseat pack http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=482834 on the back of the headrest. Rides a little better (and faster).

A great 46 mile ride with some pretty nasty winds this morning. Replaced the cassette, chain and large chainring last night and had to test them out this morning.

I've been commutinging all week, just commuteded again today. It seems like I've done done that route quite a few times this year. |
13.25 mile ride down to the James River, out 'n back from home. 15.4 mph speed (avg) and 51:33 time.
Here's my '85 Fuji Del Rey along the Huguenot Bridge, overlooking the James River. http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...psumhjpts7.jpg |

You just had to test them, didn't you? I hope they worked okay. :D .....

82 wonderful windy miles. For the LBS ride we added a new section of pristine pavement with a bike lane, had 42 virtually uninterrupted miles. Tomorrow should be more fun with the predicted 20/25mph winds. Will keep the aero front wheel hanging in the garage.

We took the tandem out again, 51 2/3 miles. Windy, cool, very October.

75.1 miles @ 16.3 with 2697 ft. Windy here as well 12 - 20 mph.
A little further than my comfort zone but I got sucked into doing the Strava Gran Fondo 120km. |
Just a few 6-12 mile rides the past week, some errands, some for pleasure. Still struggling to get past this plateau in respiratory conditioning. After around 3 miles I'm exhausted and need to stop for a few minutes to catch my breath, then stop again about every mile. But I'm feeling some improvement in leg strength and stamina, so hills are getting a bit easier. And overall I'm enjoying these rides more, especially when I ride within my natural pace rather than pushing too hard.

Last scheduled training ride for next weekends Coast 2 Coast Ride. Hoping some of the other riders would show up but there were only three of there. A very, very windy 52 miles this morning.

2 miles shy of yesterday's 82 miles. A bit windy but not as bad as weatherman let on that it would be.

Rain Saturday, no ride. Got in 19.2 miles this morning on the trike and now it's sprinkling. Good timing.
I sometimes cut 2 miles off the ride near my normal turn-around point at the Glendale bridge. Homeless campers (about 8 tents) have taken over the area, even tho it's posted NO CAMPING. Lotza trash and road debris. They got themselves a civil rights attorney, so city officials and law enforcement are standing around scratching their heads. But I've added the Sparks Blvd-Vintage Hills-Queen way loop to the ride, with rest stops at the two interminable traffic lights. The loop takes me right past the Senior Center where I have lunch weekdays, so it works out well both in route and same mileage. 35.4 miles @ 17.1 with 1191 feet. Summer is a quickly fading memory around here - 47 deg with a steady WNW wind at 12 mph and gusty.

Ten miles along a pleasant rural route west of Fort Worth on this cool evening and felt like I could have gone farther if I'd started sooner. The route was unfamiliar to me - meandering with lots of cul de sacs and dead ends - and I didn't want to be out after dark bumbling around. But I plan to start earlier and explore that area more fully. It'll suit my current condition and 10-15 mph pace.

Just got back from a quick 15 mph 15 mile ride https://scontent-dfw1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...88043539_o.jpg Bonus pics: This is me, on Saturday, during a trail cleanup. The Lone Star was not mine; it was an old can I picked up off the trail... and a group shot of all of us (except Yo Spiff who took the pictures). https://scontent-dfw1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...19&oe=56905676 https://scontent-dfw1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...df&oe=56CF4515 |

I wonder if we've crossed paths? I live in SW Ft Worth. Maybe you've seen me or my bike....
For now I'm such a slowpoke I haven't attended any local cycling events since I'd finish late, after the grandmas on Worksman trikes and the kids on Big Wheels. Maybe after I can sustain 15 mph for more than 30 seconds. |
There are several riding groups in Fort Worth you can ride with if you want some camaraderie. Look on Facebook. Start with the Bike Friendly Fort Worth page and look into the Family Rides if you want to start out slow (they have kids on the rides, so they don't go too far or too fast). There are several other rides too if you're interested. I can hook you up. ;)

That shore is a purdy Fuji.
The college kid graduated and most likely needed money, so he threw the old Fuji on Craigslist for a steal. I saw the ad and immediately replied, contacted him, called him up, and snatched it up without even thinking twice. It's in darn near MINT condition for being 30 years old! :D |
After the weekend away for three days yesterday's beautiful weather was a gift, I rode 25+ miles just to shake out the cobwebs from missing that many days consecutively. Actually the time off was not as bad as I thought it would be, once you get passed the second day's cramping, and the sweating, that goes with the withdrawals, it isn't so bad. The hallucinations on the morning of the second day were kind of scary, though.

When I'm riding I hallucinate that I'm actually going fast. |
All in jest, Jim, but I do hallucinate while riding at times, I have imagined I was actually fast and in great shape:roflmao2:. And then, reality bit me on the butt, and I was back to my slow, out of shape self once again.:50:.

A very windy 37 miles this morning. Hoping that the wind goes away before this weekends ride.
