Mountain Mama century out of Monterey, VA. 100 miles, 10K of climbing. Nice and cool, no humidity, just about perfect conditions.
Took almost 8 hours of riding time, about 20 minutes slower than last year. Is that good? |
36 tandem miles this morning on a club ride in Morgan county, including our first-this-year walk up a hill (the second half of Hacker Creek Road going up to the Main Forest Road in Morgan Monroe Forest).

Late start again today. Something about sleep and getting old. Easy 15.5 mile ride on the Roubaix (again with a re-adjusted seat - tinker-tweak-tinker). I went out under the threat of rain, but sometimes that all it does - threat.
2015: 3003 Miles ♂ Monthly Avgs: Day 18 - Wk 127 2013-2015: 7677 Miles–Total Avgs: Day 15.9 - Wk 112 |
29 miles at 16.3 avg. Beautiful day, about 82 degrees, sunny and not very humid. There's a 3/4 mile steep uphill starting at almost the 27 mile mark, and I almost started to question whether I had left enough in the tank, did not want to bonk! Ground it out though, and the last mile is all downhill so it was all good.

40.2 miles @ 17.1 with 1071' of rollers. Another hot one, 89 deg, but reasonable humidity. Hooked up with my bud for the last half hour. He was just starting out so I had to work to keep pace with a fresh pair of legs.:p

Kiwanis Coffee Riders group ride this morning. A reasonable 68° at the start for 22.5 easy miles on the Allez. Beautiful day.

Yesterday "Ride the Hurricane" rec ride Port Angeles, WA. Going up - fee station to top 11.9 miles 3,362 foot climb avg. speed 4.0mph. I think not bad for a old man on a road bike with flatland gearing. Going down - avg. speed 29.7mph and max. 47 mph. Now that part was a blast.

21 mile bike commute day. Hot enough but not so humid as it could be.
|
Did you ride today
NOT YET, but, with the sun shining, no rain until this afternoon, going to try for 65+ miles. Anybody else going to be so lucky???? |

Only 4 of us showed up for our ride. 35 miles with the other boys and 39.5 miles by myself. At least it was dry.
|
8/3 - 25.75 miles @ 17.6 avg hot & windy but hey it's the summer.
8/4 - 23.3 miles Zone 5 intervals |
40.3 miles in 2:00:03 with (guessing) 1500' of climbing. It's cool and humid this evening, not a whisper of wind, felt absolutely wonderful.
|
Nope. Not today. Donated blood and letting legs rest.

No. If I don't get out early this time of year I miss out and it had rained just before I got up. Swapped out my pedals and lubed the chain and went to the air conditioned gym.
|
37 miles on the bike path starting at about 4:45am. Surprisingly large number of other riders out at that hour. Love the cool morning air!
|
35.25 miles @ 17 mph 948 ft of climbing (if you want to call it that:rolleyes:) Getting out early is relative. I rolled out around 9 and thought I was getting an early start.:p When I was working I was up every day at 4 to work out but since I retired 6 is more like it.
|
I took a nice pleasant 25 mile morning ride today.
|
Another 21 mile commuting day.

Having a good year for PR's. This one was not flat:

Yes!
My first shorter distance (+20 mi) ride averaging above 21 mph. Got out again this morning before work calm, cool but humid 25.0 mi. @ 21.1 mph 1:11:17 The extra effort required to go from 19's to 21's over 25 miles is a bit surprising. |
