It got all the way up to 39F today. My lower limit for cycling is 46-48F..... but the sun was shining and I couldn't stand it. I hadn't bicycled (except trainer spinning) since Nov 8th. It was cold and I only got in a 10 mile ride... with a mid-way break for hot chocolate and a warm-up. But it was fun... and it really felt good to bicycle again.

Another nice 35 mile ride today. Four miles ridden with the wife. :D

Today was the day off for this week, bicycle maintenance this evening.
Happy to have seen the Orion flight today, perfect launch for the Titan IV and beautiful landing off of Baja California, neat to see three big orange and white shoots, once again. Reminds me of following every one of the man on the moon flights from Mercury through Apollo. I've wanted to be a geek for quite awhile, now.:geek:, un-aplogetically so. Bill |
26 "miles" this evening on the trainer. Bleah. Brings a whole new meaning to the term "butt dyno".
I'm thinking about how fast and smooth I'm gonna be next Spring... |
Hells yeah I rode today.......to work and back!

40 miles yesterday since I forgot to post. Looked as if it was going to rain so I cut 5 miles off the ride only to have the sun come out. The wife and I were going to do a charity ride along one of the beaches today but she came home with a cold yesterday and wasn't feeling much like riding this morning. I took the opportunity to ride with my buddy Lou and we did a very nice 45 mile ride in some very foggy and extremely humid weather.

Rode 25.1 miles between shower lines, front is moving through tonight. Back to December weather next few days, then another front is due. Getting used to riding into a steady north wind every few days. Ride felt great today.

7 miles this afternoon after a weather- and under-the-weather-related 5 days off the bike. Upper thirties but dry.

I rode 40 miles today. It was 23° when I started and a steamy 32° by the time I got home.:thumb:

First time outside on the bike in 7 weeks, been riding the trainer.
22mi. @ 19.8 avg. about 1 mph avg. slower than where I left off 7 weeks back. 28* at the start, 31 at the end. |
23 very wet miles this morning. We were hoping it would stop and clear up by the time we got done with our first lap but it didn't so we came home. :(

Greybeard,
Man that sucks, as you already know, pain must be your constant companion right now. Keep us posted on how the rehab goes for you. Bill I had a lot of time to do research on trikes, the bottom line is $2,000 and up for anything decent. I'm gonna "go for the gold"... British designed ICE Sprint 26X (thanks to John V for the info). A bit pricey ($3800) but top-of-the-line. Hey, I don't need $$$, I have plastic! http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=421612 |
Low 40's and overcast, no rain today, soooooo yes I rode today. 20 miles +- on my 3 speed:D Working towards having the legs for January birthday ride of 58 miles.

Thanks for the concern, it's appreciated. Almost 3 weeks later I'm outta rehab and sharing time between the wheelchair and walker. Hey, at least I'm still on two wheels :thumb:. They say 6 weeks for the bones to heal. That'll be Christmas day. I figure It'll be the end of January before I can get back on a bike. I really miss my daily rides.

Catching up from yesterday, last ride in the desert for 2014. 55 miles, 3600 ft. I now know why they call it Fountain "Hills". Rode with a BF/RBR friend who took me to some new places - awesome ride.

26 miles on a club ride today - Jolly St. Nick Ride. Rode the Screamer with my favorite stoker. A little sun and well above freezing by a few degrees.
Served refreshments midway by a couple of Santa's helpers. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...M/IMG_3825.jpg Really beautiful in Central Indiana this time of year! http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...M/IMG_3833.jpg |

Training for 2015 has begun.
100.0 miles with 3900' of climbing at 17.5 mph. Tough headwinds for all the first 50 miles-temps 40-50. We will do the same route each weekend in December. |
Same 25 mile route, nice day, kind of intermittent clouds and a north wind. Next cold front is due across our area tomorrow evening.

My first thought was, "Yeah, I want to ride there!" ... until I realized that the temperatures were in Fahrenheit, not Celcius. |
