Just one more photo, Carmel River beach. I really didn't need to be wearing all those clothes - base layer, leg warmers, jersey, hat under the helmet and a scarf! I was quite warm!

LOL!!! Yes, we were overdressed! Believe me, the layers came off, especially when we started climbing! It was in the upper thirties over night and low forties when we started the ride, but it warmed up pretty quickly. Even so, when we got to some of the wooded areas it could get pretty cool in the shade, even with "elevated body temperatures" from working my little tail off on the climbs!

OMG!!!!

Well, that's a testament to taking care of yourself. I turned 59 on Valentine's Day. Thank you, too!

By the way, the Old Man's wife kept saying during the ride that we were his "harem". When she sent me the photos the email title was "Jan's Jezebels". LOL!!

I rode a couple hours at Red Rocks (6,000ft elev.) the past two days. Here's pics from today. Pretty good climb ! A set of slicks on the Specialized XC Comp turn it into a good climber / descender on these twisty paved roads.

Tomorrow it's back to Breckenridge (10,000ft) for my 45th day of Nordic skiing (skating) this season. Climbing with the bike feels like a day off compared to climbing with skating skis

Over 30ft of snow have fallen at Breckenridge this season. Hard to believe it's only a 75 minutes drive from Red Rocks... Tom

Today's 20K ride, make that slide.

Got out for a one hour ride to let my legs recover from the weekend's efforts. Beautiful day in the mid 60s. Perfect, I wouldn't want it any warmer.

Got in a really NICE 30 miles ride today, Sunny, 50+ F, lite winds and thin clouds. Some trail and back streets, sure felt good! Just a couple of photo's:

Suppose to be another decent day tomorrow but it's going down hill for Thurs. and Fri., RATS Still IF, it doesn't SNOW on Fri., Sat. look decent and Sun. looks GOOD! This is kinda strange as "MARCH" is suppose to be our "most snow fall month", I sure hope their wrong

I rode with the group on the Tuesday No Real Job ride today. 41.98 miles, 2300 feet of climbing. I didn't feel all that good, and it wasn't one of my better efforts, but I finished the ride, including the big climbs. Whew!!!

I had a wonderful 35 mile ride today. It was part of my research on why some rides feel so good.

From today's ride, I concluded that these are important components of a great ride:
  • Sunshine
  • Tailwind on the way home (today's was about 25 MPH)
  • No saddle discomfort

9 miles after work today as the sun sank. 40F but the sun had been out this afternoon and it seemed spring-like. Except for my cold finger-tips. (Wrong pair of gloves)
Looking forward to a wet weekend.

I did the up coming Tour de Phoenix route today. Boy am I out of shape. HR did come up a little more today. Had some hard climbs at the end, and head winds on Shea Bulv. but it was a great day for a ride.https://connect.garmin.com/activity/70850896

Did about 16-17 miles on the tandem. It's strange that when I do strength training very early am our coffee-run rides are always faster even though I do several sets on hams and quads. Normally with slow-downs, etc. we would average 15 mph. Today we were up at 17.5 mph.

48.3 miles today with perfect (very windy) weather
Mileage this month 113
Mileage this yr. 1418
Over/under riding days this yr. vs last yr. +6
Over/under miles this year vs last year +272
32.2 miles average per ride this yr.
5583 miles needed to hit my 2011 goal of 7,000

Very windy (20/30 mph ENE) all day today. Met two friends at the San Sebastian Trail Head with the intentions of doing about 35 miles finished up with 48 turned out to be a very good ride except for the wind.
