Seventeen miles on a tandem today, in 85-plus bright sun. Glad I went out but just as glad to get home to the AC.

21 miles today, but it seemed at every turn a head wind was waiting on me.

15 miles on the new tandem, it was HOT (95 F) and bit breezy. I'm still not 100% from my spill on my recumbent but we wanted to get in a "2nd" ride on the tandem before the weekend was over. LOL, They said that recumbents were hard work but being a "pilot" on a DF tandem, seems a lot more WORK, still it's a lot of FUN to be able to be a TEAM and actually be able to talk to each other! Just gota build up the MOTORS a bit more!

I rode a mere 23 hilly miles of a club ride. My usual haunt is mostly flat so I've been looking for the club's rides that are not too long a drive and away from the coast. Interior Rhode Island is hilly in places. The distance and hill were just right. On longer and steeper hills I dropped into low gears and ground up. This is not much fun so on shorter hills I stood to pedal and blasted over, and surprisingly, felt stronger from the mid point to the end of the ride. I've been riding every hill I can find in my immediate riding area and it feels great to see I'm noticably getting stronger.

I was feeling good about my new strength until I read about Ryder Eisenfield, a 7 year old boy who just road up the Mt. Washington annual Hill Climb. https://www.mountwashington.org/weather/ This is an elevation gain of 4700 over about 8 miles, as I remember, and having driven up several times, I know there are some sections of 18%. The conclusion is that old wiles, at least on a bike, will not beat young legs.

I brought that up sometime ago. I believe someone - minnman?? - did an internet search and found him active on some gun (or similar) forum.

I believe there was some disgruntlement - perhaps - over some criticism by someone of his grammar or spelling or ??.

Rode to get a haircut -- about two miles round trip in 89 degree weather. I'll be flying to Atlantic City tomorrow for a week of meetings, so last ride for a long time.

40 miles through 3 counties this morning. A few more hills than I'm used to, but still had a lot of fun.

37 miles this morning. Should have done 3 more which would have given me 1,600 for the year. I just didn't know I was that close.

Did 33 miles through the the hills today. The good thing about being a slug up hills is that old friends are able to catch up with you.

64 miles with a little group today, featuring several long and agonizing climbs, and then a nice lunch! We're planning a 125 mile ride for this Tuesday...

17 miles this morning with my wife. Only traffic we saw during the entire ride was just 3 vehicles. Ah, the beauty of living in the sticks!

64 miles yesterday, 52 on the club ride and an additional 12 to/from the meet point. 26 today, @ 17.7.

It was a foresters forum - I don't recall now how recent his activity had been, but it was quite a long time after he disappeared from BF.

72 miles on a club ride in the HEAT (66 miles with the club, 8 miles to and from ride). 93 °F and a heat index of 107. I don't know how you folks in hotter climates do it, though I'm guessing that you don't schedule club rides to begin at 10 AM in July. THis was a comparatively flat ride that usually draws a big crowd and produces average speeds of 18.5-19 MPH. Today only 4 of us did the whole route (another dozen cut it short and did 45 miles) and the average speed was less than 17 MPH. I hydrated aggressively and took Endurolyte tablets, but still the heat sapped a lot of my energy.

There's more heat to come: 90+ all week, 97 on Wednesday. Sheesh.

About 10 miles this morning on the Screamer; this was my stoker's initial ride with clipless pedals after using toe clips for 3+ decades.
9 miles on the V3 this evening after it got less hot.

16 miles yesterday at the hottest part of the day (90/muggy). Just about a regular ride for me now but it was pretty hard on me (no stress because there was basically no car traffic - so it must have been the heat).

I did a 27 mile ride with rtool and John on the Little Miami Scenic trail. We stopped at Young's dairy where the fellows had ice cream and I opted for a ham and egg sandwich.

Just a short spin with Grampa on the C&O yesterday, from Lock 57 to Little Orleans and back. We had nice weather and beautiful river scenes. There were very few other people out on the towpath, because most people prefer the nearby paved Western Maryland Rail Trail. At each end of the Indigo Neck railroad tunnel, we got off the bikes to bushwhack across the canal bed. We'd planned to walk through the tunnel, but after Grandpa showed me some holes in the roof, I chickened out. A nice lazy day that concluded with sandwiches at Weaver's in Hancock and a scenic rambling drive home on back roads to avoid I-68, where traffic wasn't moving.

We rode this section last summer when we toured on the trail. Beautiful place to ride.

17 miles on my "training route," then a 40 minute swim. Started at 67F, ended at 86F

34 miles with 1800' of climbing (mostly in the first 10 miles). TT'd up the hill, down the hill, then continued such for the next 10 miles. After maneuvering through various sections of roadwork I did some training intervals, with a nice 2-mi. cool-down that made me realize how cooked my legs were (are).

I saw a flock of turkeys that respectfully waited for me to blow past them before crossing the road. Ben Franklin was right about those birds.

Got home early from work so I went to my usual wilderness park ride with the road bike for my daily 20 mile ride before dinner. Got in 15 miles due to the engine not wanting to run today. The temperature was in the low 90's and the humidity was such that I had to slow down more than usual to use the handkerchief. Then the wife came home, we had dinner and she wanted to ride. So out I go again, this time on the hybrid, and do a nice neighborhood ride of 10 more miles. All-in-all, not a bad day. Tomorrow is a no ride day because I get home from work late.
