Did you ride today?

I rode to work today. One of thsoe wonderfully brisk but invigorating mornings with the sun out, cloudless, about 36°F ...and maybe a slight tailwind
Also rode Satuday and Sunday: First >100 mile weekend since mid-November! Yay Spring!

With great trepidation, I'm preparing to leave in 15 minutes for a 2.25 hr ride with temps reaching the upper 40's. Not sure how my body will react to the extreme heat.
We are planning to re-hydrate with a carbo/water mix immediately after completing the ride. If I don't check back in tonight please tell my wife I love her.

Thanks to DST, was able to ride a quick (relatively) 9 miles after work, even though I had stayed until 630pm.

This morning it was pouring rain and hovering just above 32°F. I had scheduled an appointment with my bike mechanic for 2:00, so reluctantly walked my bike down to the subway (4 blocks in the freezing rain) and then sat there for the 30 minute train ride watching it rust and feeling miserable. And then I had to walk another 4 blocks in the rain to get to my office. By 2:00 the rain had stopped, the streets were dry, my mechanic helped me out immensely (thanks, Mark!), and I walked the now smooth-running bike back to the office feeling pretty good.
Note: At this point I still had not "ridden today"
...but by 6:30 this evening the clouds were long gone, the sun was out, and it was a flabbergastingly-mild 55°F. You better freakin' believe I rode today! A whole whopping 13 miles, but man, it was worth it. What a gorgeous day it turned out to be.

Made it home as planned. Nice evening and night to ride, temps were 52 at the start and low 40's at the end. 43 miles flattish miles with only 1,100' of climbing in 2:11, mostly in Z3 as the coach prescribed. I'm loving this warm weather.

Tis morning was a super sweet ride!!;
Up at 4:30am, ready to leave my house at 5:05 am for the 20 mile ride to the gym on my motorcycle. But, low and behold, I had already planned on cutting my workout short, down to 1 hour..I arrived at the gym at 5:30, oh yeah, I was kicking..
Finished the workout at 6:35..Suit back up, I knew I had time, so I kicked the motorcycle hard to get back home at about 7am.. Ditch the motorcycle gear, take a 40 second flash shower,
, Throw some eggs in skillet while I am putting on bike clothes. Eggs done, the Ironman Expert is the sweetest riding bike in my stable, outside the Litespeed. So, I grabbed the Ironman, put it outside. Come back in make the triple decker egg sandwich, grab my lunch the wiffee had fixed for me. Stuff it in my backpack..Finished the sandwich, checked to see if I got on my IDs. Sheesh, I am under 8:am... I haulazz the 5 miles to the subway on the Ironman. The Ironman rides super, not only that, I have lucked up, got the right size, the adjustments and the gearing are spot on for me. With all this, I gobble up those 5 miles. At the subway, I give a little show..
While others are on the escalators, I hit the steps with the Ironman on my shoulder, and run up two flights, passing the peeps on the escaltors..
Sheesh, Bill Gates might have all the money, but he ain't got none of this!!!!
The return leg will be just as sweet, cause the wiffee will have one of those super meals hot and ready for me when I bust in the door with my Ironman on my shoulder!!
.
As you all can see, I ain't dealing with a full deck,

First time on the hilly 20-mile training loop with my Carl Strong (aka, the "Orange Bullet") this morning. The Good News: sweet jeebus, this bike climbs like the proverbial bat outta hell! Now if only I did...
The Bad News...well, not really news per se, just a realization: descending at close to 40mph in near total darkness is just stupid. That was the one good thing about winter (pre DST), I could do this route @ 6:00AM and it would be light enough to see the road. Today, not so much. I nearly chit my chamois.

Today began as a crisply cool morning but with brilliant sunshine and no clouds. I rode the bike path with camera at the ready. Narragansett Bay is bordered by many salt water ponds loaded with water fowl that leave their mark on the trail and on your tires. I enjoy all these creatures but the danged gulls grab clams, fly 30 feet above the pavement and then drop the clams to break the shells to get at the juicy parts. The result, for humans, is that large sections of bike path are littered with shards of very sharp shells. (Say that fast after two martinis) I flatted yesterday because shells cut my rear tire.
I did take many photos of very pretty New England terrain and I solemnly swear to post a trip report that I hope all will enjoy. Posting photos is my new year's resolution. The part that has me on edge is that, (I know this is what will happen) I will work out all the steps to posting photos and then they will change the system. I've had this happen in the past but what a beautiful day. Yesterday - 35 miles: Today - 12.

My ride today was great.
45.6 miles today with perfect weather
Mileage this month 327
Mileage this yr. 1632
Over/under riding days this yr. vs. last yr. +2
Over/under miles this year vs. last year +177
33 miles average per ride this yr.
41 miles average per ride this month
5368 miles needed to hit my 2011 goal of 7,000
Very good weather today, 65⁰F when I left and 80⁰F when I got back. Rode the length of the Seminole Wekiva Trail and back plus some road riding with a friend. I still have a shot at my goal of 700 miles this month but 600 miles would be a more realistic goal and I will need some cooperation from the weatherman. The wind was my friend today, it was nowhere to be found.

After a couple hard threshold rides this week I went out today for a Z2-3 hill climb on the closed Blue Ridge Parkway. I never found my rhythm on the climb but I made it to the top anyway while maintaining the zone effort. Beautiful day in the 70s in town and the mid to low 60s up on the mountain. Riding to 6000' in my summer kit was a treat for March! Two hours ride time, 24 miles and just under 3000' elevation gain. Basically up for 12 miles then down for 12 miles.

The first club MTB ride of the year now that DST is back. Only one other rider and her dog showed up. I had a hard time keeping up with either of them on the 11 mile ride on easy to moderate trails with a couple of good climbs thrown in. Worked up a decent sweat for the first time this year on this upper 70s Spring day.

Rode to work today - kinda windy - felt strong and averaged almost 17mph going in but later realized I had tailwind help and found a few stretches going home into the wind where 10 mph was the best I could do.

Yes but for some reason I was off today. It just felt like I was climbing even when it was level. I guess it could be the pollen count being off the charts. Everything is in bloom here now including the citrus trees.https://connect.garmin.com/activity/73710442

Bicycle commute on Thrusday and Friday this week, 12.5 miles each way, Surly LHT 62 cm. First commute since December, AM temps in the 40's, ride home saw 70's on Thrusday and 80's on Friday (yea!). Head wind both ways, ok because I need to get in shape again, felt good after the workout.

What an incredible climate you guys have, I can't believe what I'm reading,70 deg ,trees in bloom , pollen ?
Nothing much will change here in Scotland ,Lat 57 , for a month or so, sometimes the weather is better in January
than march , we are at the mercy of wind direction,if it's from the north, then we get the temperature that our lattitude should dictate,it's only the gulf stream you guys kindly send over here stops us freezing up solid in winter.
But I did get a great ride home from work yesterday,19 miles with a strong S.W tail wind, took just over an hour, and it was sunny, but only 4deg C.
