One of the nice little gifts left from my cancer and radiation treatments is a not too precise closure of my wind pipe, so I have to be careful not to let food and liquid aspirate into my lungs when I eat or drink. When too much slips by, I can get pneumonia. This is my second bout with it since 2008. Much less dramatic this time around. I'm pretty sure we knocked it with antibiotics and rest, but a follow-up chest X-Ray tomorrow will let us know for sure.

Bikes: I've lost my mind!

Got in 20 miles today in decent weather, about 50 and not too much wind. Maybe 7 or 8 miles was through the Pachaug State Forest here in Connecticut. Snow on the sides of the roads, but a real nice ride.

30 miles yesterday in absolutely gorgeous weather; low 80's temp with blue skies and low humidity. The weather guys said the wind was suppose to be around 10 mph. I think they need to calibrate their equipment as it may have started off that way, but the last ten miles of the ride ended up with a heck of a lot stronger winds than that. Right now, the sun is out and there is no wind that I can see so here's hoping this afternoon's ride is as good as yesterday.

Another gorgeous day (but much windier than yesterday) for my 15 mile wilderness park ride. Hoping to get another 30 miles in today but the wind was ruthless.

Ride leader Kathy lead us from Lombard through Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Warrenville, and Fermi to Batavia where the 8 of us enjoyed a stop at Panera Bread. Beautiful day today! 43 miles round trip, 13 mph average. Thank you, Kathy! Tom and Ginny

60 miles in the Cayuga National Park in Ohio. 4 steep climbs near Boston Mill were a solid days work. 2/3 on pavement, 1/3 on gravel Tow-paths or MUP. Nice 50 to 60f weather, perfect blue skies.

Ooof Barrett,! that's a bit of a steep grade.

Did my 20 miles. Ride started out at 39°F(3.9°C) and ended around 53°(11.7°)--a pretty quick warm-up for 1hr 13min.

Got out for a first ride today on the new frame, a SWorks Tarmac SL4. It was just a short shakedown ride but that frame is just awesome, both stiff and compliant. Really amazing. Pretty day up at 5000' too.

Twenty mile roundtrip commuting today. Very nice dry cool AM/warm PM. Hopefully, all the roadwork/resurfacing in Downtown Indy will be finished soon. The mayor promises that and it's election day next week.

Today's a run day but yesterday I did a 25 mile ride to the beach. I had a strong head wind, but a tail wind on the way back. I need to find better roads where there's less traffic to get too and from nice riding locations.

Temps were in the low 50s and sunny which made it very comfortable.

Temps started in the upper 40s and ended in the mid 50s by the end of the 20 mile ride.

Got in my birthday ride today. It was only 61 km, not miles but that is not too bad for 7 weeks after heart surgery. It took way too long and it is the first time I have ridden this far on the new heart. Yeah. Hope to be back to 600 mile months by the first of the year. I think it is time for some pie.

Bikes: I've lost my mind!

Enjoy the pie, and congrats! I got in 20 miles on the mountain bike this afternoon. Good weather in New England now. I also weighed in this morning 50 lbs. down from April, when I started my diet and bike riding. Still just a touch over 200 though, looking to get to around 180.

Another great ride day yesterday. Thirty miles in the afternoon with virtually no winds for a change. Today may be a shorter ride as I have a 100K charity ride this weekend.

Quick 25 mile ride during my lunch break today. Temps were 45 - 50F. A 10 mph wind off the lake added to the chill. Sunny skies.
