Rode the Coda Sport 7.5 miles to the LBS, putting in for a tune up, then rode the Allegro 1 7.5 miles back home! The snow level, you could "see" coming down the local foothills, it was time to "beat it" for homebase!

catchup . . .

Rode 20 mi uphill (3200 ft elevation gain) Sat. Went from home to mountains. Only in So Cal can you be at 6000 ft elevation in Feb and there's no snow!! Then rode with D group in Riverside for a fun social ride on Sunday.

I remember those mad dashes to my middle school. In the middle of winter, I thought that last hill up to the school would kill me! But after school, I coasted down the hill and all over our little town on the way home. My commute now is too far for a bike, but I try to get the feeling back when I ride before work.

Hi all ,
Had two rides this week with Three of my 70yo plus mates.
We did the local Bikes and Walking Tracks in and around Albury.
Great Safe riding nice and slow and finished at local large shoping centre for a Coffee and Cake
and discussion of the worlds problems.
We did 20 km all up and it took us 1.5 hrs.
I feel great today.

Tuesday, sorry to be a day late and a dollar short!
Absolutely beautiful weather today, Hi of 62F and sunshine, a very slight breeze but, not enough to matter. Rode the Out-n-Back, North-South route by myself, John had a networking meeting. Felt great riding, no problems with the Achilles tendon, stretched both legs and ankles well, before and after the ride. Chocolate milk and a Clif bar when I got home and adjusted my stem a bit and tightened up the headset that was a bit loose. Still lovin' the new bicycle.

Got in 31 miles today at the usual MUP. Great weather with 7 to 10 mph, northerly winds. This weather can stay this way all year long.

Commuted to work. First time on the bike in almost a week, due to being sick with a nasty cold...and the 26°F weather didn't make it the smartest day to resume!

Got another 31 mile ride day in today. Overcast skies with 74º temps and some pretty nasty headwinds. Had some sinus problems (draining) the last 10 miles and that was after taking some Zertec before the ride started. It's hard to keep up your normal speed when you can't breathe.

I got in an hour or so this afternoon. Temps in the mid- to-low 40's, sunny, not windy. A pleasant day. I was test riding a new-to-me Masi Grand Criterium. Funny, that bike seems to want to go fast. None of my other bikes do.

Went about five miles after work, and of all things my *battery* died (the bike has Di2 electronic shifting). Actually it just got so low that the front shifting stopped working. My fault for not checking it. It was 763 miles since it was first charged, which seems a little low, but all of the riding has been in cold weather.

I think that was my shortest ride since, like, ever...

I thought that the Di2 models could be shifted manually in the event of battery or electronic component failure. That would really suck if you were 25 miles or more into the ride and you could no longer shift. I have ridden a Di2 as a test ride at a LBS and I admit that the shifting is clean and very smooth, but I didn't see that much difference in it than shifting with my Ultegra w/o Di2.

A fully charged battery will stop working, or get vey weak, when it gets cold enough. When it gets warm again it will be fine.
That battery will get very weak when it gets close to freezing. It happens to any battery type to some degree. If you check it inside the house it may seem fine, but not work on the bike. One way around this is to have two batteries, an keep one warm under your jacket. Then switch them back and forth as they cool down on the bike. Insulating the battery with foam pipe insulation may work, or may let the battery cool off a lot slower.

Rode in to work again today; two blocks from home I ran into a friend who I used to ride with in 2007 and haven't seen since, so we rode the ~10 miles to midtown together chatting...made the commute go by much quicker!

Tonight the missus is going to meet me after work and we'll do a few extra laps around Central Park before riding home, so I should wind up with ~30-36 miles total for the day.

Got another 31 miles in today just beating the rain. It started drizzling as I pulled in the driveway but never turned into anything more than a drizzle lasting a few minutes.

Tomorrow morning will be a short 15 mile, casual club ride and maybe an afternoon ride with the wife if it doesn't rain (30% chance tomorrow afternoon).

Check out these temperatures. This is what the Arizona Chamber writes the tour books about. 70+ miles with 2500+ climbing and its all good except for a flat I had about 4 mi. from home.

Cool temps this morning for a short and casual, 13 mile club ride. On and off drizzles after getting home forfeited the neighborhood ride with the wife. There's always tomorrow!

I rode today, but only because I have this obsessive desire to never ride less than 100 miles during any week (Sunday to Saturday). A light blizzard cancelled the planned 50 mile group ride today, which was probably prudent...but I was sitting at 97 miles for the week! Cancelled ride? Oh No!

By 2:00PM the snow had stopped (and mostly melted) so I got the bike out and took a 7 mile jaunt around the neighborhood! Ah, all is well in the universe

...until next week.

I did 14 frozen February fun miles today. I don't have my butt with me. It froze off around Tucker Station Road earlier this afternoon.
