5 miles indoors , hurricane remnant and tornado warnings kept me close to home . 3.88 in rain
Metric century starting in the weeeee hours of the morning, 04:15. 62½ miles in 3 hours 24 minutes and then a 2 mile cool down ride.
Should have ridden more than the 8 miles I rode Saturday but was intimidated by constantly-repeated forecasts of massive downpours which never happened - it rained a little. That's my story, anyway.
It's now raining. |
Nice 31 mile ride this morning at the wilderness MUP. Lots of people from the weekend crowd kept the speed down. I assume it will be the same tomorrow as it is a holiday for a lot of workers. Nice thing about being retired is that the park is pretty much mine during the week. The good thing is that water is receding from several of the flooded areas but our hurricane and rainy season isn't over until November.

I agree with my wife that her sister had it right when she was little. Her sister called them Horror-canes. |

At least the end of August and the month, or most, of September are the worst and most active months. The number and severity of hurricanes fall off pretty rapidly after the last week of September.

Went on a Sky Ride Local today was late to the start and they went off without me.
But another girl was there so we decided to try and catch them up and set off towards the City Centre and on a slightly roundabout route but as it turned out a much flatter route than the main ride took. All of them ended up walking up a particularly nasty hill tho I missed some off road riding tho I dont think the bike I was riding was up to it anyway. We reached our destination and looked round for them and eventually spotted them. We werent the only ones who missed them. The ride back had a few hills on but overall was much easier than the ride out! 36 miles or so in all. |
Covered some new ground today - home to Boling, TX - 33 miles @ 14. Slowly building a safe, big loop around home base that will be my century training route.
About 40 miles with several friends. Thick overcast threatened rain the entire ride. The rain held off until the last 10 minutes.
I set out to do my go to waterfront ride with a quick stop for tea at Starbucks then back along the water to home....total of about 22.2km. I'm finding as many hills as I can to build up my strength for the next time I tackle my nemesis hill......Have a great weekend everyone.....Karen

I took a different route over the inlaws house on the lake which added about 13 miles. It was about 62 miles and it was getting pretty warm by the time I finished. I took a bottle of water and squirted it all over me starting about midway of the ride. I was treated to bbq and fried chicken plus the trimmings after arriving. Ice water never tasted so good.....

Got out early this morning and put in 32 miles, when I got home the wife is dressed in her bike gear stating what took me so long to get home and we went out for another 12. She's loving her new Specialized Dolce and can't wait to get down to Florida in the winter for those "flat" roads.

Did a recovery ride this morning. 30 miles at a very leisurely pace.
40 miles and 2500 feet of climbing with a local group ride in the east bay hills. Great group, great weather, nice hills. Today I am off to do some bike shopping. Time to start looking at N+1
7 miles yesterday, all hills. Get's easier every time. Looking at extending further out.
About 36 miles in 2 hours with seasonal and summer like Labor Day weather.
17 miles, with the Colorado Springs Cycling Club to ride to the Labor Day Hot Air Balloon Fest at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs, CO. today! Got up a 4:30 AM. out the door at 5AM, meet up with the group and got to Prospect Lake to see the Balloons lanuch and do their, "basket dip" on the surface of the lake then up, up and away, pretty cool! :)
Did a 'Recovery Ride' this morning after a weekend of minimal riding (Not at all yesterday): 20 miles at 17 mph, which is fast by my standards. Maybe out again later today, weather permitting.
I did my belated birthday ride today. Last Tuesday I turned 57 so today I put in 59 miles on the Team Fuji. The temp started out in the mid 70s but was pushing 100° F by the time I got back. I didn't push it very hard, just tried to keep the cadence up and spin easily.

30 miles this morning with a friend over a new route. Nice ride, if a little humid and windy at times. It was 80F at 6 am this morning and we started riding around 8:30, so who knows the temp. It was about 90F and climbing quick when I got home. A/C felt pretty good! :)
13 mile recovey ride(recoverig from "activites" fri, sat+sun) along the Banegat bay this afternoon. :)
20 miles solo yesterday to keep busy. This was after I showed my 30 something nephew my bikes. He is very interested in bikes now as he is going to do triathlons. He is a major in USAF.
42 miles with my son who beat me into the ground as usual. That is my penance for getting him hooked on bikes! For those who are familiar, rode from Westerville to Morse I-71 where we met. Went west-swest to Port Columbus airport. North to Hamilton-Morse Rd the back to Westerville. |
