I thought I responded to this already...oh well, I'll just add memory to the list of things that don't work like they should anymore. 3 miles today and still waiting for daughter's new bike to arrive. Man, this is harder than I remember, but still as much fun!

The car needed it's annual inspection, so I drove to the garage w/the bike in the back and took off from the garage for a 15 mile commute into work.
It is pouring rain out now though, so I called my husband and he will pick me up on his way home from work. |
22 miles, LOL, the last 6 with "a set of tires" for my wife's bike wrapped around my shoulders! What I won't do to not have to hitch up the utility trailer! ;)

Rode after the noon thunderstorm, as usual (the storm, not me) it stayed cool due to another group of T'storm cells to the NE. Rode a different route with some hills so I could see if I was improving any. Hard work but well worth it, felt good to suffer a bit.

8 easy miles yesterday evening before the rains came.
Today: Took a day off work and rode with stoker on the Screamer this morning 9 miles and late this afternoon 10 miles. Not at all hot today - seems weird. :twitchy: |
I took a nice ride down The Strand today. The Strand is a nice street that runs along the beach with a 25 mph limit and bike lanes on both sides of the street. There was a surfing competition going on down by the pier so there were lots of vendors and people about.
Today was a good test of how slow can you go due to the abundance of peds wandering around. I rode to the far end of the strand to visit the LBS which is up a couple of blocks on PCH. I then made the return trip and did a couple of loops through the pier area to make sure I didn't miss any relevant scenery. I then made a loop through the campground in the harbor and went home. I put in 12 miles which is about my limit at this point. I only returned to riding on the first of this month and my butt is still in training. |
Nice weather and a nice 50 mile ride on gravelroads.

Got in 31 miles this morning after rain all day yesterday. Humidity was a beast today.

16 miles this morning, with an additional mile of walking at the Watershed Nature Center. Going up that consarned Kendall Hill is getting easier with the lower temperature, but this is offset by the chilly air making my nose run like a faucet. My hanky was all damp in no time flat! :D
There were lots of people on the path this morning. I got to say "Hello!" and "Good Morning!" a lot! |
No ride today. I decided to give the knee one more day off the bike, so I went to Orlando, with my brother, for the national model builders show. Wow! Some of these guys have some real talent. Nothing like when I used to build them as a teenager. My brother is a member of the national group and he has some fantastic models, but didn't get registered in time to show his stuff. There were two dioramas that were unbelievable; one took over 4,000 hours to complete and the other over 7,000 hours to complete. They certainly have more patience than I do.

I took today as a slow, spinning recovery day after the hill work yesterday. We have had rain all day from the mild cool front coming through the area. Muggy and 85*F. Spun out the stiffness.

I put in 9 miles just cruising around the beach again. I stopped under the pier and took a shot of the congestion.

Got up at 5 am (no, make that 4:59 am... I remember what the clock said... :twitchy: ) and picked up a friend at 6 for a 25 mile ride. Why so early? I helped today with an Eagle Scout* presentation ceremony today at our church and had a 10 am practice time. Both went well - The ride, practice and the actual presentations. Managed a 16.4 mph moving average on the ride. Pretty much had a zero mph moving average during the other two, though. :innocent:
* I'm not a Scout, just helping out by running PowerPoint and such. |
38 mile (Medium route) club ride this morning from downtown Indy out to the southwest and back again through some areas I've never seen before. Rode past the ghost town of the old Indy airport - moved into new digs a few miles away a several years ago.

68 years old.
Rode 11.84 miles today which is very short for me. 134.37 miles this month. 2942.33 miles this year so far. Not real fast but very consistant. |
I did a 103 mile ride in Boonsboro, MD. For some reason this ride just really killed me. I did a much harder ride last weekend, that left me feeling better than this one, the CVCC Century Ride:
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/209319387 Still it was a great day, and the support was great, and met a lot of other great riders. Just wish my legs would stop burning up after 60 miles... |
I rode 81 miles on Saturday. The portion on PCH was nice and cool. Returning trip was hot, thank God for tailwinds.
The two flat tires weren't fun though. The same Lord responsible for tailwinds is also responsible for goatheads. He giveth and then he taketh away...on the same stretch of road. :) I have 375 miles so far for the month of August...with any luck I will pass the 900 miles I did in July and hit the 1000 mark this month! On sunday I rode 72 miles. It felt hotter than Saturday. My Garmin temp guage hit 108F. Not sure IF it was actually that hot. But I was sure that I saw a couple of vultures circling overhead--and we don't even have vultures in my area. Maybe they were hoping I would drop off my bike...or maybe I was hallucinating due to the heat. :) As soon as I got home I took a nice cold shower foolowed by a cold beer and a bowl of chocolate chip gelato. Take that you darned buzzards!!! :) And yes I now have 447 miles on the clock...a 1000 miles month is a real possibility. |
13 miles today , and a stop at the local bookstore 80f winds N15 .
|
39.4 miles today plus about 2 miles slow spinning cool down--a tad over 41 miles in total.
|
Alas, there is no time today. I made do with straddling my bike, grabbing the handlebars, and making "vroom! vroom!" noises! ;)

Out on a Breeze Ride which is a women only ride by British Cycling.
From Chorlton down to the River Mersey to Didsbury. They take it leisurely ( 9 mph) to cater for more nervous riders and I was champing at the pedals to pep up the pace through most of it. The surface of the Riverbank is quite rough in places and also very sandy in others so hard to cycle in tho I did my Olympic MTB impression by trying to find the rockiest bit to ride on a few small drops to test myself tho only ended up jarring my bad foot but hey lol. It started raining on the way back so the pace was hotted up a lot by two riders disappearing off into the distance, more like the speed I am used to lol. About 10 miles in all today. Also a couple so snaps of scenery on the ride. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=266989http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=266991 |
Nice 31 mile ride at the MUP this morning. As usual, it was a very crowded like it is every Sunday. I ran into a riding buddy of mine, around mile 21, and rode the last 7 miles at a comfortable chatting pace to catch up on things since our last ride together.
|
I put in about 20 miles this morning. Ran into a charity ride and rode with someone for a few miles. I think he was the last guy in the ride, he said he got a late start.
|
Put in 7 miles this morning. Its was my longest ride so far since learning 2 weeks ago. Legs was burning going up some small elevation but getting stronger, oh using a SS too... Will go for 10-15 miles next Sunday. Trying to get stronger to do 50miles by October.
|
I rode 54 mi today on the Schuylkill River Trail near Valley Forge National Park in southeast Pa. It was a beautiful summer day for a ride. We had a cold front move through Friday and Saturday which blew the hot and humid air away for a couple of days. It is not often that we get a day with low humidity and temperatures in the low 80's in early August, so I enjoyed every minute.
