Put in 32 rural miles this morning before it got very hot. Most of the crops are starting to look pretty rough. They could still be saved by some rains but the rain will have to come soon.

Sitting around after breakfast, feeling exhausted, I really had doubts whether I'd be able to ride today. But I knew that if I waited too long it would be too hot to ride so I dragged myself out. The first mile was tough but things got easier. At the end I'd gone 13.3 miles, the longest I've ever ridden in one stretch since I bought my bike in April, after 45 years of sitting on my butt.

I live in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia , surround by mountains,, morning rides normal turn out to be 40 miles each way ,, hills,,, steep inclines and the rush of screaming down the mountain roads, Though my daughters tell me Dad yur 55 when yu slowing down on road racing....NEVER

Congrats on the accomplishment! Keep it up! You keep doing that and there will be fewer mornings when you are sitting around feeling exhausted. :thumb:

Rode the out and back, N-S route this evening. Had light rain but after the storms we had today I figured it was ride or do without. Cool temps after the storms passed, 77*F

No riding as what you might call riding, we did take the tandem out for a spell. We're going to do a 1-night camping trip this weekend. To get the feel of the bike and check our packing, we loaded it and took it around the neighborhood for about 1.5 miles this afternoon.

It wasn't too bad. We actually have about enough room with panniers front and rear, and a few other items stowed in odd places. I weighed the bike later and it came to about 52lbs of gear, I think, and a total bike+gear weight of 94lbs. It's a good thing we are a light team! Though for two people doing essentially a short backpacking trip 50lbs for the two of us would have been very good back in the old days.

It was a long hot ride and was really tough and I couldn't figure out why at first. I had a tail wind and this time it was a bad thing. I had no breeze over me at all. It was like ridding in a vacuum at 112 degrees. I kept pouring water over me but just couldn't cool down. I finally came to a large tree and stopped and sat under it for a while and noticed the "wonderful tail wind" that I had. This is one time a tail wind is not a good thing.

37 miles this morning, well 37.45 in 2 hours 4 min 38 secs. Had to deal with a nasty cross-wind and head-wind. Tail-wind didn't seem to be existent except for maybe 20% of the ride--just my luck.

Got in 30 miles today and 31 miles yesterday at the wilderness MUP (Flatwoods). The two creeks that cross the path are both flooded with the creek going to the west parking lot having the worst flooding I have ever seen. The footbridge that is used to go over the creek when it floods was closed because one end of the bridge was underwater.

Today, on the way to the MUP, I noticed that the standing water from all this rain is almost to the shoulder of the road. Any more rain and the road to the MUP will be underwater.

37 easy miles on a very sunny and mild day. A wind off the lake from the NE made it feel like a warm September day.

Wow, I have not ridden Flatwoods in 10 Years but I remember it flooding back then...

Just finished a rain ride, nice and cool feeling, watched my brakes for fade from the moisture but no problems just watched my stopping distances. Ride felt great and went really well, much needed and enjoyed. Just found out I am in chronic renal failure, this afternoon. Doctor called just before I left to ride. Cleared my head.

I don't know if I rode. Is 34 miles with only 289' of climbing a ride? We deliberately did a very flat course as we try to solve issues with the interface between my wife and her saddle on the tandem. If the stoker ain't happy, ain't no one happy (especially the captain).

32 miles and nice but hot ride through the Garden of the Gods today. Every time I THINK about getting a "drop bar road bike", I go up the HILLS and realize my old arthritic knees would blow apart with road gearing, LOL! ;)

Well, you can put mountain gearing on a road bike, you know!

Did my first early-bird ride this summer, 39 miles on a local trail, starting about 4:30am. Got to work on time, showered, and refreshed. Missed the afternoon thunderstorms. What could be better?

OK, my turn. Thursday, July 19 was cool, overcast and rainy. That's very weird weather here in No. Nevada, but I'd planned a trip up the west side of lake Tahoe and away my son and I went. The MPU starts in Meeks Bay at Sugar Pine Point. Nice paved trail, with one short section sharing the road with cars through Homewood.

As you can see, road construction is in full swing around here. The good news is that bikes don't have to wait! They just wave you on through and over to the next link in the bike trail. Here is a pic of me down on a little beach at Lake Tahoe:

The trail goes in too Tahoe City and comes out along the Truckee river.

On the other side of the bridge is the dam that lets water out of lake Tahoe and into the Truckee river.

From here the MPU trail continues on either further into Tahoe City, or the other way to Squaw Valley and Truckee. But, that's a trip for another day!
