50 miles on the prairie path (and a little road). It was quite chilly (low 70s) for August.

Yep, 15 miles, a new record for me. Along bike trails, mostly. No butt pain, no numb fingers, a total success.

47 mile club ride today - stoker and I were really cranking! 40 mph in one spot! (honest, that's what the sign told us).
If we were going that fast, puzzled why our average was only 14.5 mph. :twitchy: http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...M/IMG_1925.jpg |
Weather has been quite mild in central Ohio, rode 34 Saturday and 24 today with my son. Good pace both days and barely broke a sweat.
|
...yep, my wife and I did a 14 mile ride this afternoon, glorious weather in these parts right now, perfect biking weather, really enjoyed our time out on our new bikes...
cheers, Lorne Miller |
Getting caught up with the weekend rides. 62 @ 17.8 on Saturday, on a somewhat challenging club ride ( I am going with my Garmin Connect averages... they are a bit higher) and 55 @ 17.0 on Sunday on another club ride.

20 miles today for yet another rained out ride.
|
35, warm, windy, low humidity miles. I wonder why I drink more, a lot more, when it's only in the 80s and very low humidity, than I need to drink when it's in the 80s or even 90s in high humidity. I drank 2 22oz bottles yesterday and today while doing 35 mile rides each of those days. Usually I only need to drink about 1 22oz bottle

37.3miles 3605elev.gain hot and humid (for here) 84F. Bonked on the last couple of hills and did a couple of 10second breaks on each. Felt like a riding stable horse headed for the barn when I saw I was almost home...got my second wind for the last 1/8 mile!!

Ten miles all by my lonesome after work today.

I wish that you may never have a commute home like mine this evening.
Oh, the bike ride portion was awesome. The air had a nip of autumn, traffic was courteous as usual, the bike performed wonderfully, and my legs felt strong. If my boss hadn't come by to talk about somethingorother just as I was about to depart I wouldn't have had to ride so hard, but what the heck, that's wasn't a problem and it wasn't the first time. The part I wish you never have was the train ride. Only two people occupied that end of that car, a raving lunatic/admitted loonie/alcoholic/druggie ("Yeah I'm crazy, I'm 57 and I hate life...I hate life on earth... God made package stores for people who can't stand life ... I just spent 8 days sober and just gotta' get back home 'cuz I gotta' go nuts every so often, you know...I had this friend, they found him in Florida tied to a tree with 7 blasts from a shotgun in him...I gonna' get a bunch of C clamp and put them on the rails and watch as the Acela comes by, just kidding, I like people, I hate this life...[I left out all the f words]") and me, and the Masi of course. Then the train stopped because the Amtrak train ahead of us "broke down" and we had link up to it and push it. I spent 1hr20min with this guy. Fortunately he was easily distracted. When we finally disembarked the conductor apologized. |

Ah, but on the bright side, you got a ride--20 miles is better than no miles.

Eight miles each way from Barmouth to Bennar Beach in North Wales.
18 C cloudy most of the day and cool but still managed to swim in the sea once got past the "Its too cold" barrier and dived in. Was supposed to have cleared up and turned sunny but it didnt till we had left the beach. Typical:cry: Fairly big swells and much deeper than last time:thumb: |
12 miles on the trainer. Right patella was slightly painful from yesterday's jarring ride around a lake trail which was half rocks and stones. Well worth it. I figured out the tenderness; it wasn't seat placement but the angle of my right foot. Standing without looking down my right foot is angled (pronated?) outward about 5 more degrees than my left foot. Half-way through the ride I made the adjustment and the pain immediately stopped. Woo-hoo!
Also tried out my new Sella SMP TRK...nice! Now if the rest of life was as easy to figure out. Rich |
Twenty miles today as a Bike Commuter. Just the basic suburban/urban/suburban home/work/home routine. Nice weather.
|
Ten miles after work. Hot and humid. yuck. HR up to 165 on the local facsimile of a hill. Accompanied by heavy breathing. Fun. BLT's with garden-fresh tomatoes as a reward.

8.9 miles @ 20.1 ave this morning.. my usual 12.2 mile ride got cut short..
|
Did 35 miles this am.

12.2 @ 20.2 ave this morning before work

Easy 24 miles yesterday. Probably the last day I'll need recovery from last Saturday's tough 100K.

A 48-mile road loop in the Haliburton and Hastings Highlands (central Ontario), which I have done most years since about 2000. Hilly roads, mostly very light traffic, through forests and by lakes - saw one tandem and 2 other bikes. After a lot of unsettled weather (power went out in thunderstorm last night) today was perfect. Getting a bit slower but times still respectable (for me!).
We rent a cottage here and I have a tough gravel loop on my mountain bike to pick up the newspaper most mornings as well. Wonderful to get out of the routine of my usual routes in Toronto. |
