Twenty miles on the W&OD trail (virtual. thanks to Youtube.com) First day with clipless; lots of practice getting in and out. The loose setting I picked works fine...time will tell with my first panic stop on the road. Man parts still going numb at 16 miles; need to work on the seat a bit more. I have a home theater projection screen and ran up some Ireland virtual cycling videos for the hour ant twenty I rode. Boy did THAT bring back some memories!

Started a Horticultural Course recently and also have to do Level 1 maths as well.

Cycled to that today about 4 miles each way.

Had showers and sunshine today, washeed my bedding first and took it to the launderette in drizzly rain and then back home.

Left home in sunshine and thought yay I've got the best of the weather but no 3/4 way there the heavens opened and it lashed it down under leaden dark skies.

Also being a disorganised student I had left home late so didnt have time to shelter and arrived totally dripping wet.

But I recently bought a pair of Endura Humvee 3/4 Shorts and just had to wipe the rain off them.

Still soaked throughout the afternoon tho.

Next time am bringing spare clothes and towel lol.

Fed up with sitting in wet shoes...

Loving Colorado. If we could move it down to sea level it would be awesome.

Started here at the Dillon dam, looking towards Swan Mountain:

They have done a wonderful job with the bike paths:

The top of Swan Mountain. I ain't lyin', it hurt:

If my wife lets me, I'm going to try to go from Frisco to Vail Pass tomorrow.

I've been channeling my inner Jens Voigt: shut up, legs.

No ride today, but we rode yesterday and the day before and the day before. A group of us, some BF members, with 2 tandems and 5 solo bikes (for half the trip) did 129 miles on a 3-day camping tour. A few pics:

So envious of your rides ...

Rode 23 miles today, 2100 ft, 82F, 30% RH (which is humid for these parts of the world).

Got in a short 30 miles yesterday because of an early appointment at the doctor's office. I was all set for a good 44 mile ride today but it started thundering at the beginning of my second lap so I ended up with 27 miles for the day. There's always tomorrow.

From our home in Waltham to a campground in Littleton, then eastward to Harold Parker State Forest, then back home.

Truth be told, it wasn't quite 129 miles or everyone. We added 9 miles worth of running off to grocery stores with our tandem unloaded! after setting up camp each evening.

Miles Standish or Nickerson on the Cape sounds intriguing!

55.3miles and 5669ft climbing This was three more miles then planned thanks to a road closure and detour from mud slides.
This is a personal best!! Started biking in late April this year and am thrilled with it!!!

No but I'm sure hoping to do so. Courtesy of my knee refusing to twist as much as I demanded while playing racquet ball. I've been off of the court and bike for over 2 weeks. It is driving me crazy!

Today I did 14 miles on the Charles Town to Morgantown WV. Really slick, wide and with grass shoulders 15' wide. Very stiff headwind (Whine! ). I was struggling to hold 80 RPM with 122 BPM making 8-9 mph. REturning I was doing 18 mph with the same bph!

This was my first day with clipless on the road; fell only once. Everything was going fine at a crossing and at the last minute a car came screaming around a blind curve and I got discombobulated. Only hurt my pride.

I did manage to figure out a few things though. Popping off the right pedal and landing it while leaving the left in place to pull up the pedal to begin my cross works well. With MTB flats I was fully dismounting then I'd have to 'set' the left pedal up to get a good push off. Now I can stop (usually!) and be ready to go almost instantly.

I figured out my numbness in the right hand. I was riding along trying to figure out why only my right fingers went numb then a flash of memory reminded me that a hand surgeon said the right shoulder impinges on my artery. Instantly I realized my shoulders were shrugged, tensing to brace against the stiff headwind. I relaxed and that solved that. A tough ride (for me!) but a rewarding ride.

It's still a blast.

40 miles today with a new riding partner - 3rd time out. We are well matched. Went south on the MUP and rode 20 miles to Castlewood Canyon State Park, which includes several 100 feet of climbing, ending at 6,300 feet. Along this MUP, for the full 40 miles, we saw 6 bikes and about 15 walkers/joggers, 5 deer and uncountable Prairie Doge (or rats, as my wife and I call them). Beautiful country - open grasslands and as one climbs
higher, pines and cliffs and boulders.

Finished with a 30 minute swim.

Ten miles yesterday after work. Three times up our only local semi-significant hill.
Twenty miles today as a Bike Commuter.

35 miles this afternoon.

I did a old route that I haven't done since last year due to a rather steep hill. Well, either the hill is not as steep or I got stronger.

It felt GOOD.

I have ridden to from my house near Providence, and in, both Miles Standish and Nickerson.
Nickerson Is right next to the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Different paths and many things are connected to the rail trail. There are bike path rotarys and benches along the trail. If you ride to Dennis, that is the close end of the path.
Standish is huge and has a few miles of bike paths. I've been lost there in the dark, with a coyote for company. A lot of good riding southeast of Boston down toward the cape.

Twenty-two miles on the W&OD today. I put the Selle SMP TRK back to zero, installed a pedal extender on the right pedal. It went as smooth as silk; no knee pain from either leg. The trip was a breeze so I extended past 20 to 22. The clips didn't go so well. I fell again..once, at a drinking fountain. I'll figure it out sooner or later.

"Defensive unclipping" is my technique. I unclip ONE foot (in my case, the right foot) whenever I am in a situation that I sense danger or a need for higher caution. Children, sand, traffic lights/situations, etc.

That's exactly what I was doing at each traffic intersection. This was a fountain and I had the right foot loose and let the bike slow to a stop concentrating on getting close to the fountain and was standing on the left (clipped) pedal unable to un-click it....plop! The water was warm too...ugh!

A very nice 44 mile ride this morning. It was hot but the winds from this tropical depression is keeping the humidity down.
