A variation on my usual solo longer ride..."backdoor" to Marshal, NC. 49.4miles and 4710ft climbing.
Took 4 hours and 18 minutes minus a 15 minute brownie stop at Zuma coffee shop in Marshal.

44 miles today with one mile standing at an average pace of 16-17 mph. Legs are now toast since I did the standing in the middle of the ride and not at the end.

6 AM Muggy 79*F: Started Three Times.
Aired tires, Loaded bottles and batteries. Dark out. Got on the bike.
Oops no computer,
Ready, Oops Wrong glasses with no mirror. Decide to stay in the hood. 3 blocks down the street came across a broken city waterline.
Returned home to get glasses and call in the water leak.
20 miles, rain, now 86*F

Two more sleeps until the Whistler Granfondo!
Wanted to do a short ride tonight but it rained - and I don't like riding in the rain. Besides, I washed my bike yesterday and it's all clean for his weekend's ride.

3.2 miles. Dropped my car off at the dealership in the morning, and rode to work. Then back after work to pick up the car. What a workout!
Bad news though was the $4500 repair bill I have coming

It rained very early this morning so the path at the MUP was still wet when I started my ride. Became very steamy as the sun came up and started drying it off. Got in a very steamy 35 mile ride.

Rode to work today - again just about perfect weather. 60 this morning and 80-something on the way home but relatively dry. 23 miles.

Turned out to be only $2500. Hey that means I saved enough money to pay for my new Cannondale 29er**.
I hit a curb a year or so ago, and apparently it messed up the suspension pretty bad. This is the ten-year-old Honda Element that I'm trying to keep going for another ten years if possible. It's just about the perfect bike carrier*** car for me, except for the mediocre gas mileage.

A very nice change of pace today. Rode with about 50 other riders on a History Bike Tour. It was a slow, 13 mile ride through the downtown and surrounding area. Today's topic was the history of the city/county school and eduction system. Very interesting and the lunch after the tour was even better.

I rode from Loovul to Bardstown today on the Old Kentucky Home Tour. It was fun. I met several benders and we rode a makeshift pace line for a while.
Most of the ride is in Da Boonays:

I saw a guy drop his chain going uphill, stall, get his feet stuck in the clips, and tumble into a ditch. Best Tombay I've ever seen. He was OK physically. But for the grace of God it could have been me. But since it wasn't, it was pretty cool.

33 miles in the (relatively) cool early morning today. Rolled at 6:30, after a 5 a.m. rise and 6 a.m. pick up of my friend. Flat, no wind and still a sub-17 MPH average, but all in all for me I'm still pleased... despite sucking wheel for a while (although to be fair, we did trade off, if not evenly).

I did 40 mi in Harriman Park, NY, today, about the same route as I usually do up there, along Seven Lakes Dr. Then, there's a mile on a side road, along Lake Tiorati, that I've been having a lot of fun doing repeats on. It has short but steep ups and downs and it's easier- and more fun- to do it standing.
