Another 22 mile journey to and from work today.
|
A great 44 mile solo ride today. Great weather with low humidity.
|
Another day, another commute.

I did a 40 mile today but instead of a nice cool afternoon ride it was 85*F at 2:00pm and it was like riding during a July afternoon.
|
Rode 25 miles at 15.2 avg this morning.
|
27 miles this AM

Wooly bear caterpillars. Great harbingers of the coming winter! Supposedly you can tell how severe the upcoming winter will be by how thick their fur is. But I wonder how they know?
Yesterday, I did long out-and-back repeats on the D&R canal trail. By extending my normal route a little at both ends, I increased the segment to 16 miles. There's a lot of road crossings but, otherwise, it's virtually straight and dead flat. |

The ones I saw were very fat. I hope this doesn't mean a cold, snowy winter.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrrharctia_isabella http://www.almanac.com/content/predi...r-caterpillars Yes I did get in a ride today. |
35 moderately paced ride today. Did two of the 35 with the wife and the rest solo. Great Florida day for a bike ride. I'm loving this low humidity.

It was peculiar that all day I watched caterpillars, fuzzy orange and black ones, crawling across the road in both directions.
You can just picture a blanket of these things over the entire United States, NJ to California, crawling this way and that. |

Low humidity in Florida?!
I also enjoyed a low humidity, to us, twenty mile fitness ride after work this evening. My shorts and shirt were only partially soaked when I returned home. |
First ride on the N+1 cyclocross bike today, and quite possibly the last ride of the season in the GWN. Off to warmer rides ... south of the 49.

18 mile ride in a new/different city. Work road trip, had an overnight in Columbus, Indiana. Nice town with tons of great architecture. Fair amount of MUP trails as well.

Two interesting links for the Pyrrharctia isabella:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrrharctia_isabella http://www.almanac.com/content/predi...r-caterpillars Yes I did get in a ride today. No ride yesterday. I did some hill climbing on two feet instead. |
Started off with a solo ride and ran into my riding buddy, 10 miles into the ride, at the northwest parking lot. Finished the rest of my 44 mile ride with him, but at a much slower pace than what I was planning. All-in-all, a great ride and a lot of fun. It doesn't get better than that! :D

Rode my commute again today. Took the '73 Raleigh Gran Sport. It was wonderful. The weather was clear and sunny when I left the house this morning, still sunny when I got off the train. But it clouded over before I got to work. And a hour or so later it started pouring rain at the office. Then about 2PM it stopped raining! The ride back to the station was soggy from wet roads but otherwise not a problem.

31 miles this AM.

32 miles solo this morning. Humid, but not hot. Nice tailwind on the last few miles, but a good ride all in all. Made friends with a sweetheart of a half-grown Labrador pup at my mid-ride stop. She was just wanting some attention and someone to play with. :)
|
Did a slow 17 mile ride with the wife this morning getting her ready for tomorrow's charity ride. Couldn't ask for a better day for a bike ride and tomorrow is suppose to be the same.

27 sorta damp miles. Sunny & dry, then light rain, sunny & dry, then light rain.
|
Just finished my first metric century! Great day, coupled with a great ride. The last few miles were a bit tough, but I definitely plan to do this ride again (as well as look for a full century to train for).

Hard to believe, isn't it? :thumb: We have a tropical depression in Gulf headed toward the panhandle and New Orleans. The rotation of the storm is pulling the humidity away from us and toward the storm. Yesterday's humidity was 56% and while it's currently 90º here, the humidity is only 43%. And that is low! Now if that storm can just stop and stay exactly where it is until November, when hurricane season ends, it will be just fine with me.
102 miles today followed my 5K jog at a 9:50mpm pace, 2,500 yards swim yesterday, 2,000 yards swim Thursday, 4.5 mile jog followed by 41 miles on bike Wednesday, 4,500 yards swim Tuesday, 15 mile jog then 1,000yd swim Sunday, 101 miles bike last Saturday, 2,600yds swim Friday, 3,000yds swim Thursday......PLEASE DON'T NEED NO STINKING STORM in the Gulf on Nov. 2nd. Next week is last good effort week then taper begins. |
