35 miles this morning in what felt like a wind tunnel on hyper-drive. My next N+1 is going to be a wheelchair so I can sit in front of the TV and not kill myself with these winds. :D
|
Managed 16+ miles this afternoon, high north winds were a challenge.

A short, 16, chilly and windy miles with the wife this morning. Nice slow ride in the park made for a very enjoyable and bonding ride.
|
A totally different weather day, blue skies and mild temps, 68° when I went out. Very little wind at all made it seem almost too easy, even on the rollers. 25+ miles.
Bill |
Barbaric commute in this morning. Strong 30deg headwind, ice, slush, and snow on the road shoulders. Lots of people chipping ice off their windshields. Traffic was light; everybody was still home chipping ice!
Much nicer ride home, still cold but with a tailwind. |
ten miles with a couple of short steep hills in a nearby subdivision after work. Clear skies.
|
57 miles at 12.7 avg.! Getting close to ready for first century in 25 years. AND no aches or pains during or after ride. Cool, cloudy and headwind out for a great ride home.
|
34 today and it started raining. I weigh 250 and ride 23s. I get a little concerned with the roads are wet. Good ride overall.
|
13 mi just to keep rear end shaped to fit saddle. Would have been happy to do lots more but rain in the area.
|
25 miles this afternoon, cloudy and a NE wind, but it warmed up from yesterday, thankfully, 73°F. Supposed to rain late tonight or early tomorrow morning, going to be a wet ride tomorrow.

Another "Le Tour de Bullhead". Seemed I was riding into the wind the whole time. . . .
|
Rode to work and back today for 20 miles. A little cool this morning but very very pleasant on the ride home.
|
Late afternoon ride, finished up just at nightfall, cold again, low 40's .... 40km hilly backroads....
|
101 miles but only 3200 ft of climbing. Headwind the first 50 miles then a nice helping wind the last 50 miles. Averaged around 17.5 mph. Was less than 16 mph the first 50 miles so picked up the pace a little the last 50 miles. Amazing how much difference a little wind makes. Overcast day with the temps in the 40's and low 50's. Didn't have on enough warmer stuff. Also fought a two cotton ball nosebleed the last 85 miles. It's time to get that thing welded on again. I've been putting it off for a year.
|
9.6 miles today for me. This is my longest ride in over 20 years. All feels good and hope to keep working and slowly going farther. I found out Wednesday of this week I am riding a race against diabetes so hopefully I am going to wear my new trek 1.1 out!

1loosemoose, good for you on your rides, now use the riding to slay the diabetes demons. We have several Red Riders here that can encourage you and offer their input to help you with the fight. Best of luck with your eforts.
Hill intervals, chose those that put me into the north winds this afternoon. 10 miles of pretty much all climbing, I didn't use the short down hill sections to gain speed so I could attack on the uphill sections for more effort. Lots of flooded roads where the streams, creeks and even the rivers are over their banks from this weeks rain. Bill |
I'm at the end of the worst cold I've ever had. I'm feeling about 85% normal, and still have some coughing.
But I wanted to get back on the bike, and used the "above the neck" rule to decide to go for a ride. I'd gone on a 60 mile ride one day before my symptoms started (ride was on April 3), so I only missed two weeks of riding. I want to be in good shape for the metric century option of the Tour of the Unknown Coast on May 10. There's also the hope that it would "blow out the cylinders," or some such. So I did a 16-mile ride with two high-intensity intervals thrown in, and when I got back I did some Bowflexing. The result: I feel just a little worse, and did a good bit of coughing during the ride. But my muscles feel good, and I'm hoping it will be a net positive. I'll know better tomorrow. |

Great job on your return and may your roads be smooth and your miles flat free. 82 windy miles for me. |

Tomorrow will be the 1st long day of the season. 3.5 to 4 hr ride in the hills in around Ct. quiet corner. Hampton/Storrs/Willington/Woodstock. forecast is for high 40's mid 50's.... Perfect temps for a lot of hill work .... ( Aim is to return to racing as a Cat II full on by next season... ) Am definitely not missing riding in the snow and cold throughout this past winter's over prolonged stay..... Rode Thursday, Tuesday was still wretched and spent Tuesday and Wednesday overhauling the bike.. Finally rode Thursday late afternoon into darkness, back roads and hills for 2.5 hours... should plan on later today after errands... |
It's been raining almost all day for the last two days. I got a break in the rain, yesterday, and jumped on the hybrid for a 4 mile neighborhood ride before it started raining again. This morning's weather was suppose to be overcast skies with a 10% chance of rain but when I went to the MUP to meet my buddy, it started raining. After going for some coffee, it cleared up so we started riding. We got in 24 of the scheduled 44 miles before it started to rain again. Tomorrow's forecast is sunny and 10% chance of rain. I hope to get in a 44 mile ride tomorrow before going to my daughter's house for Easter dinner.
