Didn't get much in today. Ended up with an 18 mile ride in some very heavy overcast skies, very damp and windy conditions. Started to drizzle toward the end of the first lap so I called it quits, packed up the bike and drove home; at which time the sun came out and it stopped raining.

No but I did give it some thought. Temps in the 30's and a bit of a breeze. Downside was that the snow melt is making the streets quite wet. On the other hand if it rains as is predicted some of the salt will wash off of the streets. With luck I'll be riding next week:) and its about time!

Today was my first ride of the year. I rode the Steel Valley section of the Great Allegheny Passage from "The Pump House" to just past McKeysport (sp?). Twenty-one miles in an hour and a half.

Today was the warmest [Midwestern] day of 2014. It was beautiful and not at all windy ether.
I got in a nice 16.5 mile ride.
Twice I had to dismount and carry my bicycle over snow and ice. Hey... it's the Midwest! I had a great time, although I did overdress a bit. It felt good to sweat. It has been a very long winter.

A repeat of yesterday but added a close encounter with a bobcat on the way to Walmart just a minute from my house.

:roflmao2:

Went out for a nice spin since Seniors 5K and 10K will be tomorrow. Such a beautiful day finished up with 87. Then went to the course with a friend and we cleaned all the corners with air-blowers.

No. :(

80 miles with 7000' of climbing including a 3 mile climb on a dirt road. It was glorious!

JanMM 03-08-14 09:05 PM

8 miles early this evening. Felt colder than indicated 41F. Maybe because of a stiff breeze?

jimmuller 03-08-14 09:52 PM

My sweetie and I did 33.8 miles today. Lots of standing water from snow melt. Lots of snow around too.

Did the Solvang Century today. No wind, gorgeous weather in the 70's and unlike last year they even threw in a free BBQ lunch.

I rode again today! That's two days in a row. Spring must be with us here in Ohio now. OK... it snowed a little this evening and tomorrow may not be so pleasant. But I got in my standard 20 mile loop today with only minor hassles from wind, cold, snow, or ice. Monday and Tuesday are predicted to be very nice (for Ohio). I am pretty stoked!

60 miles in MD in one of the top-3 wealthiest counties in the country, Montgomery county, from Glen Echo out to Poolesville and up towards Boyds. Got a huge nail stuck in the rear tire on River Rd. Probably 20 riders went by in the time I was fixing it. There was an insane amount of bikes on the road. I've never seen so many riders off the bike path in my life. Even I wanted them to get off the damn road :)

63 windy miles with the Bicycle Ranch (Scottsdale, AZ) shop ride. Enjoyed every mile knowing that soon the vacation will be over and will be returning north of the 49 to cooler rides.

Carbonfiberboy 03-09-14 10:08 AM

65 miles, an SIR populaire, on our tandem. Rained hard for 40 of it, temps 45° to 50°. We rode well, finished a couple hours and change before the time limit. I'm gonna weigh the laundry before and after. I think we were lugging a few pounds of water in our clothes. Curious to know how many. Over a 100 riders. Good to know there's that many people as nuts as we are. OTOH, there's really only that many as nuts as we are? There's more people than that walk around talking to themselves. Uh-oh.

34* with bright sun. The roads are loaded with sand, salt, rocks and potholes. It was just too nice so I took the crappy mountain bike. After dragging that boat anchor for 15 miles I had enough. It was still great to be outside.

OldTryGuy 03-09-14 12:49 PM

30 miles that started out pretty cold for me. Arm and leg warmers, long fingered gloves, second jersey with a newspaper tucked between. In the middle of the miles I rode the Seniors 5K and 10K TT resulting in a silver and gold. Not very fast but next year I will not ride 87 miles the day before.

jppe 03-09-14 02:53 PM

50 miles today at a recovery pace.

John_V 03-09-14 03:58 PM

50 miles yesterday with two riding buddies. 35 miles today with one of the guys form yesterday, on a maiden voyage with his new Masi carbon, 105 road bike. Almost summer weather here today.

JanMM 03-09-14 04:34 PM

13 tandem miles with favorite stoker this afternoon when the temp hit 40F. Sunshine made it feel warmer.

az_cyclist 03-10-14 08:14 AM

94.9 @ 14.9 ave Saturday, a combination of a club ride and more miles after that. Our club supports Tour de Cure in Phoenix, and Saturday was a Tour de Cure staff ride. Several of us rode that in support. Then I rode home, ate, then went out for another 36+.

Sunday 28.7 miles @ 18.0 ave
