Went to the store and back, twice --- 1.6 miles LOL ;o)

13 miles this afternoon to start the new month. My workplace is starting a month-long Cycling Challenge today, as part of the National Bike Challenge, so I'll be aiming to ride as many days as possible.

Laboring 71 mile ride on Labor Day. Just two of us although alone last 10. Went into Redlands to 344 Street and 216 Ave. Averaged 17.3 with tough Easterly wind. Temps hit 100 by end of ride.
So rode my age plus and second longest ride ever-- pleased since usually reserve Fall for longer rides (October-December). Don't feel too bad! |
100.5 miles with 8100' of climbing under pretty warm and humid conditions. ZERO cramping so rode well. Finished just under 16 mph and pulled some guys for a lot of miles. Lots of smiles today.

25.85 miles in the late morning - early afternoon, hot and humid, as usual. This was a first for me, not even going in to the office on a holiday, just wanted to decompress from the last week's events. I think I could get to like this, as if............
The ride was great, first time I have had another cyclist turn on to my route, turned out he lives near my mid-point and was finishing up when I rolled up along side of him, nice Bianchi. Bill |

Long Beach and back yesterday. 94 mi, 6 hr ride time. 6:48 total
It was HOT!, even with a 6:30 am start. Went thru a 3L camelback and one bottle, had to stop and refill the bottle at Whittier Narrows and the water stop before the dam. The fun part was jumping in behind the 20yo on the TT rig and letting him pull me for about 5 mi. Every time he gave the astonished look back at the geezer on the cyclocross rig on his rear wheel it made me feel better:-) |
18 miles today and it was hot and humid. Today was my first ride in a week as I was on vacation out west.
After being in Utah with low humidity and coming back to the south I wonder why I live here. When I left a week ago I felt like I was in good shape. Today I felt tired and not strong but flying all day yesterday didn't help. |

60 miles (last 2 in a torrential downpour) yesterday @ 18 mph with 3000 feet of climbing. The ride took us from Lexington to Richmond, Kentucky and back. We crossed the Kentucky River on the Valley View Ferry, founded in 1785 making it the oldest continuously operating business in the US west of the Alleghenies.

Catching up from the weekend
Saturday 30 Aug 65.4 miles @ 15.0 ave on the club ride Sunday 31 Aug 48.4 miles @ 16.9 ave on the club ride Monday 1 Sept 45.6 miles @ 15.8 ave on a group ride |
Today was the day for my first 40 mile ride (flat land) and I could certainly tell the difference between that and 35 miles by the time I returned home. I've just gotta keep at it and keep adding the miles. Somehow doing all my conditioning at the beginning of the trip just does not look at all appealing!:p

20 miles this afternoon in hot, muggy conditions.
|
33 miles with mixed intensity. A couple moderate climbs.
|
25 miles after today's thunderstorms passed through.

No ride today. Work, 15,000 steps on the pedometer. Then sweep rowing practice. The body can only take so much in one day.
|
Ten easy miles on the Screamer this evening after work. Nice.
|
35 miles with 1500' of hills @ 18 mph with the regular folks last night. Felt surprisingly good after the 100 miler the day before. Gotta give credit to the R4 recovery drink after Monday's 100 miler.
|
Fast tempo ride for 90 minutes over rolling hills last night in 100% humidity (post T-storms) and no wind.
|
Before work this morning, 17 mi. @ 21.2 mph
|
12.4 miles @ 19.3 ave this morning before work
|
20 miles at one pm today. Just a tad over 90 degrees but that's what we could have had all summer. Felt like I lost some level of fitness while on vacation.
|
Good 45 mile ride this morning. Started off fairly cool but got very hot, very fast. Hopefully, it will start cooling down sometime this month.
|
No rain today! Rode to work and back. 20 miles.
No rain tomorrow! Plan on riding to work again. |
