57 miles today. Light (10mph) headwind for half of it and light climbing (1200ft elevation gained total) @ 14.7mph average..
|
I did about 28 miles, threshold laps down by the river where it's flat. The funny thing is that there's a little 240 foot climb afterwards, and I felt beat and overheated so I thought that I was taking it easier and just spinning up, but it was a personal record. The same thing happened last week. I really need to figure that one out.

Today I did thirty miles (flatland) on my Surly LHTD. That's 2 thirty milers in three days, these 71 year old legs are telling me about it too! The plan is to get to 50 miles sometime in June, OH BABY!!

Didn't ride today, but I did yesterday. I think the hernia biz is over. I got in about 60 miles with about 5K of climb with no problems at all.
What a great day too. All my cycling buds were riding elsewhere so I was by myself. I ended up high fiving it with some guy climbing the switchbacks, discussing the hazards of hernia surgery with another gent on another climb, and just generally meeting nice folks everywhere I went. That's one of the reasons I love cycing. :thumb: Here are some of the views from the day: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...psf7f5bbda.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...ps054f08f2.jpg |
Rode the usual 25.5 mile route after our Mother's Day lunch. Beautiful day, we didn't get any of the rain they warned of, thankfully, just a few scattered showers on Friday.

80 miles, 5500 feet of climbing in MD. Got to see a few new roads, including about 3 miles of gravel along the Monocacy River. Had my rest stop in Dickerson pretty much ruined by some jerk in a giant pickup who yelled out "******" at me for no discernible reason*. Ugh.
I felt better by the end :) *Blocked, but rhymes with maggot. |
62.6 @ 16.0 on Saturday, the club ride plus extra miles. 28.6 @ 17.9 ave on a (windy) solo ride Sunday
|
110 miles Sunday. Windy. Warm. + 64 miles Wednesday = This week 174 miles.
|
Quick 13 mi ride between rain clouds. Ended up not raining and I missed a great, cool, cloudy day.
|
Another day of brutal winds and a 44 mile ride for this morning. Taking tomorrow off to rest the legs.
|
25.6 miles this afternoon, finally a day without a gusty wind from some direction, will wonders never cease! Our weather is like we are used to in mid-spring, warm with high humidity and pop up thunderstorms scattered around the area.

31 miles, 900 feet of elevation gain @ 15.1 mph average..
No energy at all today during the ride.. |
25.55 miles.

8 miles this evening before the rains came back.
|
Catching up on Sunday & Monday, I did 120 mi between the two days, with half of that being two fast & hilly group rides. The rides were one grade over my usual so I really had to put out. Today, I only rode a few miles but then went to the gym tonight for weights and a spin class.
|
I rode my usual 12 to 13 miles early this morning before I went to work. I have missed on four days so far this year.
|
Out 'light' and back heavy, on a grocery run .. about a 10 mile round trip
|
42 miles and 1400 ft of climbing with our regular group of Tuesday/Thursday night riders- 8 of us showed up---ages 19-66. We averaged about 19-20 mph for the 34 miles we rode together as a group (8 miles commuting over and back from the start). I did a number of long hard pulls which was some great interval training and good TT work for me. I noticed the group stopped the chatting and got very quiet a little ways into each one!!!!! Hey, it will help all of us pick up our performance a little..........at least that is what I told them as they had a pained look on their faces.

No ride yesterday. Spent it going to different places with the wife and then out to dinner. Today's ride was 35 miles with more strong winds. I think we are getting a payback for having a very mild winter. :(

19 miles 1438 ft - beautiful evening ride.
|
41 miles, no real wind (yay), 1200 feet elevation gain @ 15.6 mph average.

36 miles including riding in to work. Bike to Work Day is Friday, but the weather forecast is for a hurricane with episodes of raining frogs and avalanches.
I'll probably skip Bike to Work Day this year. |
