Pedal Turkey Pedal!
Today’s ride was very functional and an act of self -defense! Partly cloudy and in the mid 50’s, it great for me and perfect for those wishing to grab goodies for tomorrow’s festivities. Then there are those stopping on the way home for this or that. It was imperative that I get my own shop done and get out of the way before the crush.

I succeeded setting a personal record for in store time, 20 minutes! The ride? 6.71 miles in 33 minutes. The load today was about 20 lbs, mostly vinegar to clean the crock pot.

Sorry about the crummy "phone photos", for got my camera! It was quite chilly going north but when I turned around I met the winds from a weak cold front head on, BURRRRRRRR! Even put on my barclarva, LOL, made my pace a bit quicker going home. Photo's are 1. A look at Pikes Peak over the city water storage pond. 2. A bridge over Fountain Creek on the Path and 3. My bike against the "PPGW mileage sign at Critrieium Bicycles Shop, which is right on the path! Happy Thanksgiving!

Beautiful half moon, no one else out in the forest tonight. My Magicshine lights battery pack died from all the rain on the last ride so I had to make do with my Silva LX. Nice temperatures and no snow(+5 Celsius). I find it a struggle to get through November and December so a nice evening ride makes life so much better.

No riding this past week, and none in the plans for the next week. Leaving early Saturday morning for the Dominican Republic for my son's wedding.
Looking forward to a week of mid 80s temps and lots of lounging on the beach.

No riding today and the bike will be about 300 pounds heavier tomorrow.

Temps in the 30's this morning. Rode a little over 12 miles. After Thanksgiving dinner, I wish I had ridden 112 mi. :-)

I rode exactly 18:00 miles today, a beautiful, warm sunny day. I rode to my favorite local trail. While stopping for a drink of water I glanced down and saw a driver's license lying inside a planter amongst some fallen leaves. I noticed the address was local, so I called Hubby and asked him to check the map book for directions to the house. I delivered the lost license to its happy owner, just a few miles away. Just a little detour, and my reward was the smells of Thanksgiving dinner wafting in the air as I rode back down the tree-lined street brightly colors in the colors of Fall.

I have been so busy the past few weeks that I've hardly done any exercise. Ate a little more than usual (3 parties) and sat a lot (at work, at the hospital, at home)... and it is shocking how much fitness I lost in just a few weeks. "Younger Next Year" ..... or "Older Next Week"! Use it or lose it ----- fast!

Nope , I was suppose to join a group MTB ride at a local Single Track Thanksgiving Day morning but the weeks rain was not good for the trails so the ride was cancelled. There were some of the group that were going to ride the Indian Head Rail Trail, a 13 mile trail, instead and I was planning on joining but woke up and it was misty and the fog was unreal so I nixed that too. Wet and dreary.
On a more positive note I had a great time with family later in the day though. I love Thanksgiving.

Hi, Newbie here, female, age 56.

I brought my kids up riding bikes. I have always ridden a bike. Now, it's Thanksgiving and my 3 kids show up from other parts of the state, with 4 bikes between them, one of the bikes outfitted with a baby seat for my granddaughter, who's 18 mos old. They arrived a week ago, and we have ridden bikes every day. Yesterday we put the turkey in the oven and went bike riding while it cooked! Great day!

My granddaughter loves to ride in the baby seat, and now they are talking about how old she needs to be to have one of those bicycles that is a trailer, attaches to the back of a bike! I know she is going to love that, but she'll have to be at least 4 years old, I think. She is just going to be a chip off the old block!! I am a very lucky grandma--or maybe it's not luck--I planned it that way! If you raise your kids to hike, bike and backpack, you may just end up with grandkids who hike, bike and backpack!

Yes, I do ride just about every day, to work, to run errands, and for fun. Own a Stumpy FSR mtn. bike and a Giant OC3 road bike as well. Love my bikes!

Welcome to the forum. As a grandpa the same age as you, I'll say that packing the grandkids along on a bike ride is a blast. I wish I could do more of it.
Going to resolve next year to make more oportunities.

I rode my usual 55 mile ride from Chicago to Lake Forest. The ride was great but a little chilly with temps around 40f. ...but sunny skies and a day outside are just too good to pass up as far as I'm concerned.

Cold, wet 25 miles riding with my son. But, it was all good.

Had a excellent day for a ride, end of November in Southern CO. and I'm riding in "shorts", a nice 60+ degrees and almost no wind, YEA!! Well it was just one of my "normal" rec. routes basicly from the old northend over to the 31st. Street entryway to the Garden of the Gods. Was taking it easy, then I remembered that my car insurance was due TODAY, so I went into "training" mode and hauled home, grabbed the bucks and went to the Insurance House (name of the place). So not only did I get in a good ride but I'm sure I was pacing WAY over my normal, LOL, I even passed some road bike riders with my Frankenhybrid, which I'm sure was a shock! ;) Insurance paid, now a mellow ride back home, I felt really good today, like I could ride forever, (ya in my dreams!) still it was sad to see the sun heading down under Pikes Peak at 4PM. Got home just before dusk! :)

did 58.7 miles today from Mesa thru Fountqin hills to Rio verde and back with 4 riders..LOTS of hills

Had a GREAT ride today. Did 46 miles on my usual Rio Hondo, LA river, Shoreline Village, 2nd st Bridge to Seal Beach Pier. 7 to 12mph headwind on the way out, cool and high clouds. On the way back had a tail wind and did a 5 1/2 mile TT in 14 minutes in 52/15 gear. Was getting lazy and not pushing myself. Metric Century is up for Monday, the last day of the month. This will be my third in three months. Another great day in SoCal.

Delivered a turkey breast to my son and daughter-in-law, about 4.5 miles, mostly downhill, went way too fast, on my new Sam Hillborne. What a sweet ride. This is the most comfortable wheel I've ever straddled. I'm probably bragging about it, but dues were due for the golf club, I will finish the year, but resigned 12//31, and used my dues money on a new bike.

Anyhow, I digress, but back to the story. I stopped by Home Depot, very carefully locked the bike, shopped, and when I came back out an elderly couple were standing by my bike. I spoke, and we chatted, and the gentleman handed me my keys that I had left in the bike lock.

Last Sunday I ordered new SRAM Force shifters and front and rear derailers 2nd day air so they would get here on Wednesday. My thought was to get it all installed sometime Wednesday evening or Thanksgiving morning and have all weekend to ride. Well UPS screwed that up big time. In anticipation of the new parts arriving any minute (their tracking info said on truck) I took all the 105 stuff off my bike and waited...and waited...and waited...until the next tracking update said "Package left on dock, set for delivery next business day" AHHHHHHHGGGG!!! NOOOO!! So I ended up doing a mountain bike ride on Thursday morn, 23 miles and sat and waited Friday for the UPS dude to show up so I could sign for the parts (signature required by REI) and he finally showed up at 2:00 pm. I get everything installed and going but by this time it's approaching time for my dinner date (daughter and son in-law are here visiting for the holiday) and I can't get a ride in. Saturday morning gets here...and I get out of bed to see a So Cal miracle...FLIPPIN' RAIN!! This sucks...maybe I can sneak in a ride this afternoon. :wtf::mad:

Another great November ride. Probably my last ride of the month. If December is colder than normal, it might be my last ride of the year.

I rode yesterday and needed to take a recovery ride. Well, the group of five I was with had other plans. We maintained 21 mph in a pace line formation for 20 miles. I told them I'll drop off the back. I did.

I returned on my own, stopped at a coffee shop. A larger group of maybe 20 riders were there. They passed me doing about 22 mphs. I felt like I just got dropped again. LOL.

I passed my goal of 5000 for the year today. Yeah, baby!

I was astonished to be able to ride today. The day started cloudy, but the sun broke through by noon. More important, we had wind gusts of 50mph overnight and into the morning. I rode out about 11:45 a.m., and due to the fact that I'm riding mostly north-south, and the prevailing wind is to the west, I was able to get halfway on my normal Saturday 10-mile ride. While the leaves have dropped from most of the trees, we have enough of them around here - and many are pines that keep their needles - that the roads I was riding had enough of a windbreak to make the trip bearable. The weather before sundown tomorrow is supposed to be better, so I may ride 20.

51° F on Nov. 28 in Connecticut isn't unheard of, but it isn't to be expected, either. I had pretty much resigned myself to leaving the bike alone for the winter after last weekend. Today and tomorrow are, to keep with the Thanksgiving day theme, gravy!

I'm going to get in the other half of my ride in before the sun starts to set.
