http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=390786 2nd ride on the new (to me) Roubaix SL3. Forget Cadillac, it's a Mercedes Sport Coupe. I love it!
Major wind storm in Reno last night, 60-80mph gusts. The tree lined bike path by the Truckee River was littered with debris. Speaks well for the quick handling of the bike dodging tree limbs and sticks (and Goose poop). :twitchy: Beautiful day for 17.3mi @ 15-18mpg. Pedestrian = stoopid. |
A very nice 44 mile ride this morning with some pretty cool temps for a change. Warmed up but it was tolerable today.
|
Nasty 20 miler at 90 degrees and it felt warmer. Windy. I'm glad I'm done. Hurricane on the way.
|
Very pleasant tandem ride this evening - the last couple of days have been hot/humid but this evening is pleasantly dry and cooler.

12.4 miles @ 18.5 ave this morning before work

Very humid 35 miles this morning. Then it off to the movies with the youngest grandson to see Earth to Echo.
|
38 miles on the Badger trail. It was quite leisurely as I had to ride around downed trees and burrow through a couple. Fortunate that I met the guys clearing them and other than having a lot of branches on the trail it was clear sailing after. Stopped in New Glarus for some coffee and a scone (I would have had a beer but I don't drink alcohol) and then an easy ride back home.
|
18.6 miles today. Cut it sort a little as we are under a tornado watch. Hurricane Arthur is supposed to hit tonight. Probably can't ride early tomorrow but maybe later when storm passes.
|
Right at 50 mi. this morning @ 20.3 mph avg. I rode a 33 mi. segment at what seemed at the time to be slow, turned out it was my fastest ride for that segment, then I re-rode part of the route for an additional 17 miles. The last several weeks I have been spinning my way along, today I mashed it a bit, the last 4 miles were a killer, I was getting dizzy ( don't think I was drinking enough, and started out wearing too many layers) my thighs are so sore I cant hardly walk.

This humidity isn't letting up. Another humid, sauna feeling morning for a 44 mile ride. My wife said the weather forecast calls for less humidity over the next 5 days. I sure hope these weather guys are right.

33 miles of beautifully cool (for July in Louisiana) riding this morning with a friend. The latter half was facing a 10 MPH wind at times, but it was still a great ride. Hope to head out again tomorrow morning, when it's forecast to be even a bit cooler.

4 miles this morning as part of the neighborhood's July 4th parade. Lots and lots of little kids on bikes, parents pulling trailers, walkers, dogs on leashes. Led by a fire truck. Averaged about 3.5mph (guess) first time around. Went around again on my own - 2 miles each time.
Then rode 20 miles this afternoon out into nearby rural roads and back. Warm and very dry today. Unusual for early July but I'll take it! |
Did 30 miles today. Mostly pavement, but some dirt and gravel, too.

100 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway, from Buena Vista to Peaks of Otter. 9750 feet of climbing, or something like that. Included the Thunder Ridge climb. This is from the Terrapin Mt overlook:

16.8 miles Friday after the hurricane passed. 19.8 miles this morning, the dew point was down which was nice after the humid conditions that comes with hurricanes.
|
Monday and Tuesday, hi 80's and lo 90's, with a nice serving of humidity in East Tenn. ,but on Wednesday morning the humidity was gone and the temperature in the lo 80's. Perfect riding conditions the rest of the week and the temps and humidity are starting their way up. Today we had a 8-15 mph head wind out of the NE, still very nice and I had a 160 mile week

35 miles early this morning. Half with a local bike shop group at a fairly fast pace and half with a friend at conversation pace. It was a very enjoyable ride.

I just rode 17.75 miles on my old Schwinn Alum Comp MTB. I use the bike for everything and continue to ride the heck out of it, until I get up the funds for a nice road bike.
I don't know if anyone is on that website thing called "mapmyride" but I traced the route I rode from my house, and rode down to the James River here in Richmond, VA and along one of the parks, ventured into some dirt trails and doubletrack gravel/sand trails, then back out onto the roads, and rode all the way back home. 17.75 miles 1 hr 35 min 11.2 mph (avg) 1178 calories burned ...all on an old (but upgraded) 21spd Schwinn Alum Comp MTB! :thumb: |
