Mid-50's on the day after Christmas - rode 13 miles. New route near home includes three short but steepish hills.

53 miles, 5.3K of climbing, all on "local" roads in and around Lexington. I still can't get over how beautiful an area this is for riding (if you like hills anyway.)

I finally got out to the Silver Comet Trail that I've heard so much about. On my 'round tuit list for years I'd built up some unreasonable expectations, but I can say that it was pleasantly uncrowded for a holiday with pleasant weather. 30 miles, the ride was about the same length of time as the driving to and from. It would be spectacular for a long ride.

38 miles, 2000' on the tandem, 39°-45° and poured the last ten miles which included a long 40 mph descent. We were glad we had ridden from home and could jump in the shower. Tomorrow's weather should be colder but dry.

I rode my standard 40 miles today from Oakdale (CA) to Manteca and back. This in preparation for a Xcountry ride starting next May at the ripe old age of 72! I'm think'n that my next ride, Monday, should be 45 miles but I've got to work my courage up to try it!

69 miles, 6.9K of climbing, from MP 0 n the Blue Ridge Parkway at Afton, down via Montebello on 56, and then back on Rockfish Highway.

Bike Ride Profile | 69 miles near Afton | Times and Records | Strava

It was a beautiful, warm day, but I got way overheated on the way back. Traffic going past the Wintergreen ski resort was insane. I felt like I was riding on a freeway for about 15 miles. I was way, way overextended today. For some reason i thought it would be a good idea to finish the ride with the painful climb up Afton Mountain to the start point. Wow. I was shaking so bad I almost fainted when I got off the bike at the top. The whole rest of the evening was a leg-cramp-festival.

But it was still a pretty good day

100.6 miles with 3800' of climbing at 18 mph with our local group. The last of the weekly Solstice Centuries put on by one of our local bike clubs. A great way to keep the weight down, burn get a jump on conditioning for 2015 plus ride with some terrific folks. We had 17 riders to start the century. I think we finished with 10 so no sure what happened to the other 7???? I could tell great improvements on this ride from the first one just 4 weeks ago. But I guess that is the idea.......

62 mile small group ride yesterday. Winter finally hit central California, 34° at the start and about 48° by the end. I've put in 300 miles in the last week thanks to holidays and vacation days, and was tired & off the back on most of the climbs.

I'm done for the year & ready to reset the odometers. Final tally for 2014 is 4,130 miles.

Ten miles in not-really-bad weather - 33F but dry and not windy. Dry roads.

25 miles, kind of chilly but the westerly winds weren't too bad. 59°F the entire ride.

Getting closer to riding again. Getting around pretty well with a cane, hip's still a little sore (damned gravity!).
I ordered a Vortritek (German) recumbent trike new, fully assembled, $4500 trike for $1895. I just have to put the wheels on it.
I'll give progress reports after I start riding it.

Just thought I'd share this odd bit. Guess this one won't have to worry about front flats.

After considerable research, experimentation, and experience I decided that adulthood is not for me. Please accept my resignation.

Not only did I ride today but I upped my distance by 5 miles and now I'm a 45er! I felt really good when I got back so "soon" I'll be making a stab at 50. I admit to being a bit smug about doing this after 71 years on the planet!

Your figures impress the snot out of me. Would you mind telling me where you're riding and your age? I ride between Oakdale and Manteca, pretty flat country. I'm 71.

Louis-

I'm 59 & ride in mostly in the hills east of Fresno & Madera, plus a few out-of-town centuries. One 2015 event I'm hoping to ride is L'Eroica California in Paso Robles in April.
