I rode to work. 8 hilly miles early in the morning.
|
Not many cycling days like this left this fall. Gotta enjoy every one of them.
Rode 15 leisurely miles with my wife this afternoon. :) https://farm1.staticflickr.com/658/2...e47703a3_z.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5632/...1b6628b7_z.jpg |
Friday and Saturday were both 25+ mile rides, Sunday was a rain out. Today looks like it might be possible to slide in a ride towards late afternoon. Tropical low system is pumping moisture up out of the Gulf, looks like the first part of this week are going to be catch as-catch can, as far as riding is concerned. Plenty of things to do as far as maintenance is concerned.

64 miles on sat.. Of interest was stopping to talk to an 80 year old gentleman who keeps a flock of racing pigeons. For the most part they are all white and when they take of as a flock it is quite beautiful to see, esp. if I'm out riding that way in the early A.M.

Catching up for the weekend
Sat 88.0 miles @ 12.8 rolling ave, with 6873 ft of climbing, our training ride for the Fall Solvang double. Sun 40.7 miles @ 15.4 rolling ave, the club ride |

Two guys (leading) and two women (following - way behind). Put two women together and they talk @60mph, ride @8mph. But that's okay, I was on the Sirrus babying the wrist. 2015: 3980 Miles ♂ Monthly Avgs: Day 19 · Wk 136 2013-2015: 8655 Miles · Total Avgs: Day 16 · Wk 113 Allez 990.7 · Roubaix 1081.1 · Sirrus 560.7 · Trike 1330.4 |
19 easy miles with a rolling avg. of 15.5 mph and a gain of 906 feet. This is about as close to a 'flat' ride as I can get around here. Wanted to keep hr and effort down today as I'm still fighting a head cold. Nice day though, sunny and around 65, and it was kind of nice not having to push it for a change.

No. I didn't ride today. I'm tired from two consecutive end of season weekend events. Need to recover and get enthusiastic again. Soon!

21 miles total riding to and from work today. Two more days of my employer's (a large healthcare organization) National Bike Challenge-based cycling challenge (September only). Unless the person behind me in the standings rides a couple of hundred miles, I could win a gift card for most miles/points for my worksite. Gonna drive tomorrow as it might rain but will bike commute on Sept. 30.

Did a "Le Tour de Bullhead" south on the Kona. . .

WOW! That looks like a beautiful ride.
It was beautiful. Parts of the ride took us along a number of apple orchards, mostly picked already, where there were apples still on the trees they were glowing in the brilliant sunshine. Tonight I dashed out after work just in time to make it to the top of Kuiper's Peak as the sun dipped over the mountains. 11.6 miles, 1034 ft on the single speed - a first for me to ride that hill with the SS. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/778/2...6c38df9a_c.jpg |
25.2 miles @ 17.2 mph with 846 ft. Started out as a warm day with light wind. That changed as it started to rain. At least I was only about a mile out. I just checked the weather and it's supposed to rain for the next week.:(

Intended to ride less than a mile for a couple of errands, kinda sorta accidentally on purpose ended up riding 9 miles to explore the area side streets. Felt pretty good overall. Legs are getting stronger, going on my fourth week, but still kinda wheezy due to asthma. Had to walk a couple of hills - felt like I could have pushed through but would have been miserable later and needed a couple of days to recover. And finished the trip toting three sacks of groceries home.

One crank stroke followed by another sometimes results in distances that far exceed our initial expectations. Keep on stroke'n! |
Water guy, that is an absolutely beautiful shot in your last post (#17039,) you live in a really great area for riding it looks like, to me.:thumb:
The tropical low moved off to the east of our area, dumped big time rain fall amounts in the Destin-Ft. Walton Beach, area of the central Gulf Coast. Dried out by mid afternoon, managed a nice 25.65 mile ride on my favorite route. I hope that that is fall weather I felt in the cooler air yesterday! Bill |
Today I got in 19 miles @ 13mph
Saturday when I had more time I got in 40 miles @ 13mph. :) |
Started way late today, rear flat on the Allez (I think it's part of that gravity conspiracy). I could either fix the flat or ride, but not both (not enough time). So I took the trike on the shorter route (some gravitational forces included) and made my lunch reservation on time. Changed the battery in the wonky wireless speedo sending unit and went for my regular ride for a total of 23.3 miles. Average speed, not sure. Not fast, not slow, ranged between 13-18mph. Fall weather is making its presence known.

Rode my commute yesterday and again today. Same ol' route, 32 mile round trip. Traffic has been horrendous but it doesn't make much difference to me except that I pass longer lines of cars at the stoplights. I rode the Raleigh both days, another bike I have been neglecting.

This is where I went today: SEP-29-15 11:53:51 AM - Grand Junction, CO
Really nice autumn trip, except for the flat tire. |

Not to make light of the short distance or elevation gain. I must acknowledge that a mere 7 years ago, I thought this distance to be daunting. Like, "who would want to ride all the way out there?" Amazing how things can change in 7 short years. I still don't plan to ride to work more often than I have to. I'd just as soon keep cycling for "fun". Hats off to those of you committed enough to ride to work every day, and still ride for fun! |

Nah, you'd be bored stiff with the rollers here, climbing isn't on the menu, save the many rolling parts, once you get away from the coast, they can frustrate you with their spacing. NW Florida is different from the peninsula in its make up, the coast is much the same, but its a narrow area. Once you move northwards the rolling geography begins, all the streams and creeks have carved our sandy soil as they meander along.
Tuesday afternoon was another 25.65 miles in the log book. The rain was around again this morning, but by noon it had cleared off. The humidity is back, not unusual for this area, it hit 80%+ while out riding. Bill |
...just a quick 7.25 mile ride to the public park and back home. It's been raining and raining and raining for days on end. The clouds parted and the sun started peeking through the clouds, so I jumped at the chance to take a quick spin on my old Fuji.
Easy peasy 7.25 mile ride at 15.9 mph pace in 27.14 Now, I have to grab some lunch, change my clothes, and go back to my school bus and drive the afternoon runs, taking the little munchkins home. |
After getting rained out the last two days, I finally got in a nice 35 mile ride with two of my riding buddies. Blue skies and lots of sunshine today. :D
|
17 miles today before my dang chain came off. :(
