My ride today was from Redwood City up to Kings Mountain Road and Skyline. I set a challenge for myself to ride it this year. so better sooner than later. I do KMR once every 10 yrs - it seems, it is tough and relentless. but I survived. Even though in the 80°s, most of my route was tree covered so it was nice.
Total ride: 26.67 miles and 2,703 ft Elev. gain That comes out to 101 feet per mile total as an average and from my start to the peak at Skyline/HWY35 ( 13 miles ) that is 181 feet per mile average. way above my typical. 2:19:22 Ride time (under 3hrs elapsed time). I am very happy with my effort. it is much more elevation that I normally ride on the road. I was solo. so no drafting or pace assistance unfortunately. During my ride, many passed me on the way up. Such a fast riding area. and those coming down were flying. Such a beautiful Spring day! I am so fortunate to be able to do this ride. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6c7aca4c5e.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...3147b12aef.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...3c0e575c10.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...88eedcccac.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...90b314cf9b.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...51f26555db.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...76619d14d4.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...eefbff718.jpeg |

Funny john m flores , I was riding my 32mm GP5000s today and was caught off guard more than a few times by the small utility covers in the road, in the shade,. On my old steel road bike, with 25ms that would have sent me flying, but my 45mm gravel tires and future shock would sucked those right up as a slight little bump. this is descending at 15-20mph. I was missing my 45s today. Good job enduring the 23s!!

I left the house this morning fairly early as I needed to be back by 10:00 am. I got 20 miles of very pleasant riding. There was hardly any wind today and the temp was low 60's when I left the house. Very pleasant riding.

Took one for the team and went out in sunny 74° light wind.

Yes I did ride today. I left the house at 8:30 am and rode for 24.3 miles some of it on the bike path that has a lot of riders who seem( in my mind) not to be considerate of others on the bike path. So I typically don't ride that bike path but did today.

Tried a new neighborhood in Portola Valley today. had a crazy steep descent. And my first ride after swapping my winter knobby tires for the smoother Terra Speeds on the Creo2. Funny to have some deer crossing in the crosswalk on Alpine Road! I had time to stop at the popular The Village Hub - Coffee Bar ... also my first time. I will be back. they close early though on weekdays. As I was leaving the Village Hub, I saw the a group ride fly by me on Woodside.

I been off the bike for a few years and decided recently to start commuting again so I been rebuilding my old cruiser and been indoor cycling in the large truck shop I work at. Today was my longest indoor ride of 4 miles which would be 1.5 miles less that my actual one way commute would be. I did a lot of tweaks and adjustments to make this Klunker comfortable for the daily commute. I did a few saddle swaps, chainring swaps, handlebar swaps, and a few adjustments for this and I am confident That I am now ready! Just got to wait for the weather to break.

seems like you’ve had a good winter of riding. We’ve had a glimpse of decent riding weather here and more to come. Finally getting back out there.
stay safe Today, not so much. I think it was probably my worst day of riding this season. I dropped my truck off at the auto shop for front brakes to be installed and brought my bike with me so I could get out and ride. Only 5.3 miles into my ride I heard the back tire pop. It was flat, there was nothing I could do to fix it, nor did I try. I went with my plan b, which is call uber. They came and picked me up and was able to also take my bike. Oh well that was my bike riding for today. I have brought my bike to the bike shop after walking to the auto shop to get my truck. So hopefully I will be able to ride again by Sunday. |
Ugh, sorry to hear that. Something we all fear, glad nothing more than a flat is all you had

2 hour ride today. Some singletrack trails not far from my home.

Did 22 miles on the local bike trail with a pretty significant wind, which for where I am in New England is pretty much standard. Felt good to be outside again.
|
Nice and mild today with a slight breeze. Rode over to Arastradero Park, hung out at the pond for a minute...so peaceful. 26mi 1700ft, on the Creo.

Had one of my best rides in a while. I've been trying to increase my long rides in preparation for the randonneuring season but I've cut all the long rides short and still have had issues recovering from them. After taking four days off I went on a short ride yesterday but still felt some leg fatigue.
I headed out this afternoon just intending to spin for about 1.5 hours, and I struggled a bit in the first 20 minutes or so. But I made a planned stop about 25 minutes into the ride at a gas station to get some Gatorade (I am out of my powdered supply). That stop was a lot longer than I expected, almost 10 minutes just to buy Gatorade (the line was long)! But I felt great after that point. No problems with the headwinds and small hills. Just when I thought my legs couldn't feel any worse, they go and do something like this, and totally redeem themselves. |
Got out at 3:33am this morning under an approaching FULL MOON for a very quiet and ALMOST uneventful 17.71 miles. At the 0.80 mile mark I missed by a couple of inches riding over an adult Opossum and then a dumb bunny decided to zig left instead of zagging right and crossed 2 feet in front of me about half a mile from home.

I believe about 15 miles. Another rest at 40. I believe there are rests approximately every 15 miles thereafter. Entire ride about 82 miles.

I often ride my bike to work. It's 3.7 miles (6 km) each way. I rode today, and today is a Tuesday so that means I go a few extra miles to my evening vocal rehearsal. My total today will be about 18 miles (29 km). I'm in New York City, and my routes are mostly flat. We do have hills here, some challenging, despite the reputation for it being flat. My regular commute is over the Brooklyn Bridge, and most of my miles are on separate bike paths.
Here is the Manhattan Bridge as viewed from the Brooklyn Bridge. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...b71a7c28e0.jpg I ride 32 mm Continental GP 5000S tires. They are a luxury: expensive and fragile. The rear has had several punctures so when I need to replace it, I have a slightly heavier tire ready. |

I got out this morning at 9:00 am and was whining to myself as walking out the back door was warm into full sunshine. I thought that the ride would be too warm but after getting out on the bike and finding shady roads I was fine. I rode for 18.2 miles thinking I would ride again later in the day but that didn't happen.
