Always grateful to post this thread
Rides lately have been in the high 30’s. Not my favorite temp for shady rides. So a short ‘vacation’ location yields flatter routes, slower speeds - and potentially sunnier routes. :)

Rode 18 miles. Warmed up sufficiently but wind was too much. Decided to stop and have coffee.

I left the house at 10:15 am when most of the fog had lifted and rode for 25.5 miles. The temperature was cooler but warmed up as the day went on.

63 degrees, clear and calm -- in January! You betcha I took some time to go ride.
14 miles, out and back through some "interesting" neighborhoods. Funny how the streets are better maintained than in our middle-class neighborhood -- I think they have a better city council member. It was a great ride. Even beat the fire truck to the corner where I turned off, so I didn't have to pull over! :D |
14.7 miles this afternoon. Wasn't expecting to get a ride after the storms last night.
|
I got out today for errands only but still that was 10 miles.
|
First official Zwift race. Was in over my head from the bounce. Hung onto the small peloton for the first 3 of 10 laps, burning matches left and right until I popped off the back. The closest person behind me was a minute down so I just time trialed to the end, constantly checking my six.
Very much feeling it this morning. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...21379583ac.jpg |
I left the house early this morning at about 8:30 am and got a 26.5 mile ride in. The weather was beautiful until the way home when the wind was gusting out of the south at 23 mph.

Tomorrow is the beginning of hopefully 28 consecutive days of getting out and riding. |
Why yes I did. 30.1 miles in 2:57 in Portugal with 1,442 feet of climb. First real ride in a month..Those stationary rides mattered. Rented a bike from Decathalon for 10 euros. Decathalon is like Dick's Sporting Goods kinda. They have their own brand. It was a heavier hybrid, but did the trick.

Off trainer this last week, off kilter too after Some Bad News last Saturday morning.
Decided that today'd be a good day to get back on saddle, even if only in my basement. Found a route on Rouvy that starts in Les Sables d'Olonne-Vendée (where the stalwarts leave every four years on a round-the-world race until they return to port a few weeks later!) then heads inland for a total of 12.42 miles, 633' elevation, completed in 47 minutes: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...29549d92a3.jpg The current running of The Race saw 40 boats start early last November; 34 still in for the finish. As of today there are 14 safely back in port. My effort to get 'round the course in < 50 minutes was a trivial effort next to what these sailors endure while training then participating. Close to three months at sea, no stops for repairs or resupply, weather be damned, one sailor to a boat. Amazing athletes all! |

Riding in super stiff winds the last 2 days will make you offer up a prayer or two . Grateful to be out of the teens° and snow from last week led to riding 3 of the last 4 days : 30, 27 & 27 miles

Pretty day here. I managed to talk my wife into getting back on her bike and joining me.
She hasn't ridden regularly for several years now, but the day was so nice, I talked her into getting back on her Marin Redwood for a ride. We only did 10.5 miles, but I was pleased to have her active again. We used to ride together regularly, but she's gotten out of the routine. Her longest ride was 42 miles on the Cedar Hill charity ride, and did a great average speed on that one. We're both mid 70s riders now, btw. |
According to my adaptive training plan, this was supposed to be 90 minutes of Zone 2. But I feel like the plan is ultraconservative and I'm beginning to doubt it.
It was a fun ride though. Good pace with some sprints and climbs. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...544edf03f1.jpg |
I left the house at 8:15 am this morning, and was able to ride for 23. 5 miles. The weather was cloudy but warm, not a lot of headwind.
|
Rode 25 miles in great weather.

I gave up on the short HIIT rides of 25 miles. I'm back to doing my usual 40+ and enjoying it much more. Did a little over 40 miles today after a 10 miler last night in the cold mist. What a blast. I'm addicted to cycling, what can I say?:)

My wife and I got out for another ride today. We only rode 11 miles. The strong south wind we had today beat her down pretty bad, and we made several rest stops just in that short distance.
She spends most of her time these days sitting in front of a sewing machine, and she's really lost her strength and stamina. I'm planning to stay after her and get her activity level back up like it used to be. Wish me luck.......:innocent: |
I had a late start to my ride today. I left the house at 1:20pm and rode for 21 miles. The weather was so beautiful today with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70’s.

And you're telling us that it was in the 70's & sunny there today? In February? |

My mileage was a little shorter than I would’ve liked but I was running an errand and I had a late afternoon obligation. But ditto on yesterday’s weather. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...cc67ee0cf.jpeg |
