The next 2 days are going to be in the 60s so I will be out both days too. We have a strong cold front coming Saturday so I am taking advantage of this weather.
I also learned that at 55°, sunny and little wind I am comfortable in a short sleeve jersey and bib shorts. I thought the short sleeves were a mistake for a mile or 2 but I warmed up. Below that though it will be long sleeves and long bibs.

I was wondering about you today. I figured you might be out taking advantage of this rare January weather.

I got out for 14 miles here.
Looks like we have another good day tomorrow. I have to take the wife's car in for inspection in Midlothain in the morning, then will try for another ride after that's taken care of.

Us old fat guys have to be represented. I do what I can!😄

We're having overnight temps down in the 30's but the days are clear and sunny with highs in the low 60's. I like to start around 9AM and it's been mid 40's but by 10 it's mid 50's.

Got in 46 miles today with 2400ft of climbing.

Exhilarating to experience with two new hips freshly upgraded in the last 90 days or so.
Winter riding is actually quite fun if you have the proper attire!

Not everyone would ride a bicycle on ice and snow after hip replacement! Respect and good luck on your recovery.

yikes - mid 50’s most times I’m wearing three light layers or two light layers and a shell

60’s I’m still wearing two layers (long sleeve outer layer)

I’ve worn shorts down into the 40’s - primarily because I grew out of the tights I wore 30 years ago :( - but Santa recently brought me new tights

Just 11 miles today. Not a bad day, but more windy and chilly than yesterday.
Weather change on the way so that's probably the last of it for a while. Oh well.......:(

My DW has started referring to my riding bibs as 'Onesies' :( Now I really do feel old :(

There's a bit of competition in each Zwift ride, even the non-races. Was tired starting but found a rhythm with a small group. Burnt too many matches chasing down riders ahead of us though. Eventually broke from the group to catch another group in front but was gassed. Tried to recover for the finish. Everyone slowed and waited for the first move. Launched my sprint 300m out and dropped all but one, who was using a Drafting boost. Ran out of gas before the line though and got pipped. Turned myself inside out for a solid mid-pack finish. Fun though. I may try some actual races - great interval training.

Thank you John!
In my mind I have already recovered - now it's time to move! Besides I feel that we all need that sense of adventure (with a dash of risk just for good measure). All that stuff aside my body is telling me that I need to build up strength. So the indoor trainer and some outdoor rides in the dead of winter are the plan for now.

I got in 74km today, my fifth ride in January, my total for this first month of the year is now 300km. We don’t see much snow here in Tokyo, but most days I’ve set out, it’s been zero or a little colder. This morning was frosty, with a cold wind, and I had to watch for an occasional patch of ice. My fingers, toes, and nose were numb from the cold, but I had a great ride.

The start of the Tour Divide is now less than 6 months away. So far I am still a “go” for the event, but now that the grand depart is getting closer, things are starting to look a little more real.

Must be why I'm finding Rouvy preferable. Too easily caught up trying to keep up leaves me panting, not a fun time.

Closing fast on 76 I don't feel much competitiveness anymore... not that I ever did.

The usual Gang of 4 doing a longer than normal 40 miles this afternoon knowing we'll be rained out Saturday and super cold weather is coming after that. Highs just over 50° and not a cloud in the sky made for a great day.....and best of all it wasn't that windy.

I was able to get out and ride today for 20 miles. I rode down to the beach for the first time since I have been here. The wind going out was a bit of a fight but coming home the ride was easy.

Next time I will be in long bibs. It was only 6 miles and I wasn’t pushing hard trying to go fast but the next 2 days my legs were sore, really hurt in spots. I am pretty sure it was because the muscles were cold. When I played softball I would feel that same ache if I showed up too late to warmup and threw with a cold arm.

The pain cave got an upgrade. And then I did 2 tough hours. Feeling it now

Better indoor than outside so say the relatives in NJ. who are talking about snow.

r.e. bold -- I'm closing in on three quarter's of a Century :D and have challenged myself to ride every day. Managed a short 5.05 miler today with a 2 mile ride to grocery store for some pepper and then took a little bit longer way home.

I'd prolly ride more too if'n I lived in SW Florida anywhere nearby you. Up here, this time of year, it's my trainer or nuthin'.

Today outside it got up to a high of 8°F, windchill -27. Be -10 tomorrow when I clock in for my shift @ 8 AM, likely -16 24 hours later.

I find I can ride every day outside from about mid-April to late November, weather permitting. Finding the trainer encourages more strenuous sessions than the road bike(s) out on the roads around here, not exactly sure why unless it's the terrain & scenery vs. my basement walls & monitor displaying Rouvy routes.

nlerner 01-19-25 07:25 PM

Rode outside for 36 miles yesterday and 38 miles today with temps around 40 both days (though it was a bit frosty at the start today). And right now it's snowing with 5-7" forecast and then the coldest temps of the winter so far moving on in. My riding will go back on the Wahoo/Zwift for the week.

SW Florida was great today - got my first ride in today after "escaping" the fridged Minnesota Winter. You inspire me to ride everyday - at least while I am in your neck of the woods!

about an 82 degree difference!

Gotta enjoy that temp. difference :D

Dang, is that a 63+/-cm great looking 531 frame that matches the '66 Stang color? :thumb::thumb:
Great color for the car but I prefer the Acapulco Blue of my 1968 GT350 Shelby
