About 11 miles today.
https://i.imgur.com/CJgk2ZU.jpg Excuse the crappy phone photo. I can't seem to get the camera on the A-20 to co-operate with me. Got a few things at this LBS for the Motobecane. More importantly, it has an appointment with the Bike Doctor to sort out the rear D/R issues that the bike had when I bought it. Quick waiting room diagnosis is both the D/R and drop-out are bent. He says he can do cold repairs without any problem. I am a bit skittish on cold bending anything on this fly-weight tigress- otherwise, I'd try it myself. Should know more by Sunday afternoon, hopefully. -D.S. |

It just wasn't up to a 14/34t FW I mounted last year so I switched to a SunTour V-GT Luxe off a 'donor' Fuji. I lived and rode in flatlandia when I bought it up until we moved a decade ago into the Driftless Region in SW Wisconsin. Hence the need for different gearing; there's nowhere I can ride that's flat around here! |

Will keep it in mind. I'm pretty sure I'm in the 12/14-28 cog-set range, so probably most anything in un-bent 5 speed chain range is going to work. We shall see. Bulk of my climbing is bridges, or underpasses, and I can do most without down-shifting. Where I do have to drop down is in the river bank trail access areas- some of those embankments are steep. I'll also gear down on the riverbank trails if there are a lot of pedestrians and other cyclists around. -D.S. |

I guess we could say we had a hayride this morning. Finally fallish weather after a week of high humidity and September-like temps. Unfortunately the cooler weather brought a stiff wind. 32 miles.

Finally got out today. I have been fighting off my sinuses, tendonitis in my shoulders then rain. It’s been a few weeks.
Did a single 6 mile loop around my local lake. Sunshine, 72° with zero wind. I couldn’t have asked for a prettier day. |
Finally out today for the sake of riding. :D
A little over 18 miles. https://i.imgur.com/p6LMptE.jpg New to me piece of MUP. That's downtown Winnipeg in the background. https://i.imgur.com/f3mAsCe.jpg And another new to me mixed use path- this one limestone gravel. Norwood Bridge over the Red R. in the background. Not a bad day for it- 48 degrees or so. Pretty gusty W/S/W winds today. Glad I got to do it. -D.S. |
Just an 8 mile test ride on the Allez today. Spent the last couple of days mounting new tires, adjustments here and there, cleanup, etc.
I think I spent more time looking for parts and tools I'd stored away in special places so I'd know where they were than actually working on the bike. :o As mentioned by pepperbelly, really pleasant weather lately. |

They managed to get the D/R secondary backing plate, D/R wheels cage, and drop-out all straightened. It will now shift down to 6th/1st without hitting the spokes. Shifting back up to the higher gears is a bit hesitant. I'm going to try degreasing the D/R in the next couple of days, and see if I can wring a little improvement out of it. I'm actually pretty impressed that the techs went to all that effort to get the D/R working again. They set the bike up in a very big park tools stand to get the work done. If I had a little more room in here, I'd get one. It sure makes working on the rear of the bike a lot easier. -D.S |
Got out for a tandem ride today, our 5th tandem ride of the year, whoop-de-do. Just 18 miles on a loop out of our house, but that's a start. It's been a tough year of trying to recover, but we seem to be back on track, should be able to get out once a week if it's not pouring. During the week, my wife has been on her trainer and I on my rollers. plus two gym days. I did a few reps at 360 on the leg sled yesterday, so that's coming along, too. This might be my first post on this thread. We don't do photos, just ride. 2003 Co-Motion Speedster, 9 speed triple, bought used on '07. We've put many thousands of miles on it. Well, heck, I'll put up an old photo for y'all - us heading out on a group ride in graupel, appropriate for the season. It warmed up a bit, was a fine ride though wet.

E bike riding
I rode yesterday, and plan to ride today. I developed PMR last year, was hospitalized in January, and rode one time between January and July. I bought a Pedego Avenue July1, 2024 and turned 1,000 miles last Saturday, November 9, 2024. I was off the bike for 4 weeks due to a concussion (from a biking accident) and two weeks for surgery (bladder cancer that turned out not to be cancer).

Didn't ride today- seems I gave myself a pretty good head cold with yesterday's ride.
So a bit of a P.S.A. : 40 f is cold enough to give one's self a nasty head cold by riding with an un-covered neck. I plan on some sort of wrap for next ride- it is easy to take off for too warm- probably just a couple of wraps with a winter type scarf. -D.S. |
12 miles this morning.
One of the more pleasant days we've had this fall. Hope to do it again tomorrow. |
I did "17 miles" in the garage today. Does that count?
Scott Peterson Newport OR Where we're in "winter storm" mode 'til some time next year. |

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...26b3b291b.jpeg bonus - today did not have to settle for just an old display caboose - train passed by as I paused on the Chartiers Creek bridge (can spot the train through the fence in bottom pic) Montour trail is built on the old Montour railroad - Montour railroad began in 1877 - at it’s peak serviced 27 coal mines and transported approx 7 million tons of coal per year . |
Finished the first 4 weeks of the off-season training and feeling good. 10 hours a week including weight training, 27,000' of elevation and 516 miles. The new FTP number translated into tougher power thresholds, so the intervals are back to hurting the way they're supposed to.
Besides finding and devouring an entire 2lb bag of Halloween candy, I've been disciplined. 😜 |
